I had the most wonderful wedding here. I can’t say enough good things. We worked with Martin for over a year and he went out of his way to be as accommodating as possible. There was nothing we really wanted that he wasn’t willing to compromise on.
We met with Richie a few days before and when he took over he was amazing as well. He was on top of everything and made the final few days as worry free as possible. The night of the wedding he and Lauren (who was so great my entire bridal party wanted to take her home) went above and beyond for us. They kept everything and everyone organized and it was a huge weight off my shoulders.
The room was absolutely beautiful. My guests actually told me that as well. And the food from both the cocktail hour and the main course got rave reviews. They also brought my husband and I upstairs to enjoy some cocktail hour time alone which allowed us a minute to breathe, and eat and enjoy each other’s company which was great.

Old Tappan Manor was simply amazing! We planned our wedding over an eighteenth month period and had about 215 guests in September 2015. No matter what question I had the staff helped me every step of the way. Moufid, Rich, Lauren and the whole staff made it a night to remember and one that the two of us and all of our guests enjoyed.
I really loved that it was a one event venue; the room is a great size for lots of dancing an spacious for mingling. Food was delicious — the cocktail hour had so much variety and each main entrée got rave reviews from our guests. The grounds around Old Tappan Manor are also perfect for wedding pictures.
Rich made sure that my centerpieces, tables, and the room looked just the way I wanted. He was a wonderful maitre’d taking care of guests in the midst of his busy evening.
If I was to recommend a venue to a couple searching for wedding venue, Old Tappan Manor would be first on my list.

My wedding was at OTM on Saturday — I could not be happier. Martin, Richie and Lauren are fabulous. I had 220 guests and each is still raving about every aspect of the wedding. The room is just absolutely gorgeous — the chandeliers are incredible. The food is delicious. Big dance floor. Great outdoor place to take Fall pictures. Perfect acoustics. I truly have nothing bad to say and would recommend this venue to anyone!!!

My husband and I had our wedding here a couple of weekends ago and it was the most perfect day! :) I cannot say enough good things about Old Tappan Manor. Joesph and Martin made the planning process an absolute breeze. Rich, Martin, and the team went above and beyond the day of the wedding and I never worried about a thing. They did a fantastic job running the day, working with our vendors, and were extremely attentive. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous! The combination of the modern décor yet very warm atmosphere, along with the tall windows overlooking the breathtaking view of the waterfall were beautiful. I highly recommend this venue for your wedding! It was the best decision we made! Thank you all for the best wedding day! :)

My daughter had her wedding reception this past Saturday, August 29^th at the Old Tappan Manor. This was by far the best wedding reception I have ever attended! From the first day I met with Martin Shanley, the manager until the end of the evening when I said goodbye to the maître d’ Rich everything was handled with perfection and the utmost care was given to all.
The outside of the venue is meticulously manicured and they have a beautiful waterfall which is a great drop back for pictures.
The bridal party has a beautiful private room to start their evening with a private cocktail time.

The reception room looked like a place out of a fairy tale book. It was magnificent. The chandeliers glistened and the lights had just the right touch. The room is surrounded by huge windows and the back window allows the view of the water fall. The flowers were from the Orangeburg Florist in Blauvelt, New York and they added the final touch to the room.
The food was out of this world and the wait staff was attentive to all.
My guests have not stopped talking about this wonderful wedding. I only wish it was last week so I could do it all over again!
I highly recommend the Old Tappan Manor to anyone looking for a venue for any occasion. This is the place to be!

My Husband and I had our reception here on June 6, 2015. After searching many locations about 2 years ago, I was consistently disappointed that I could not find a place I loved. Then, I stumbled upon Old Tappan Manor through some more rigorous searching. I called and made an appointment to see it 2 days later. I was immediately impressed with the location, grounds, and amazing ballroom. I fell in love with it before Martin came down to meet me. We worked with Martin Shanley through pretty much all of the steps. He was easy to get in touch with and followed up on every question I had for him, even the minor ones. On top of that, I felt that Old Tappan Manor went above and beyond to give us little extras. Our Maitre d Richie was also great to work with. I only met him a week before the wedding, but everything went smooth thanks to him. Martin was also present throughout the entire reception which made me feel even more confident about the night going smoothly. All of my guests have said nothing but great things about our reception, including cocktail hour, the grounds, the service, the food, etc etc etc. Thank you Old Tappan Manor !!!

My husband and I were married at Old Tappan Manor on May 30, 2015 (this past Saturday). We worked with Martin Shanley through most of the process and were pleased with everything! The grounds are absolutely breathtaking (the gorgeous gazebo, the waterfall cascade with patio, the stunning ballroom) and the service was excellent!
There was a minor issue with the sushi station (apparently there was a car accident and the sushi did not arrive on time), but Martin quickly let us know about the issue, assured us they were getting replacement sushi, and offered to reimburse us the amount we paid for it! The replacement sushi arrived towards the end of our cocktail hour and Martin made sure not only that people were able to get some before the reception but also that we received a plate of it after our cocktail hour. People also really enjoyed the mashed potato bar, the carving station, as well as so many of the other delicious food available. The level of attention to detail was incredible!
Throughout the night, all of our guests kept commenting on how great all of the food was and how attentive the waiters were. The facilities were clean and well maintained. We had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend Old Tappan Manor to any fellow bride and groom looking for a stunning place in northern NJ to celebrate your big day!!!

My sister got married here last year. I may be biased but it was a beautiful, and fun wedding. While we prepared for the big day, the staff was attentive and there to help my family. They truly cared about my family and wanted to make my sister’s big day perfect.
The facilities were breath taking, the food was delicious (mashed potato bar!), and the staff was helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone. It holds such great memories for my family!

Giving a different view as an attendee versus a bride. Ambiance is fabulous. From the chandeliers to the gorgeous outdoor views. Waiters and waitresses very attentive and accommodating. The cocktail hour was good, not great. Some dishes like satay chicken and beef and coconut shrimp were excellent as some dishes like calamari and lamb chops ok. Vodka bar quite beautiful and enhanced the room. The OT Manor certainly stood out with the entrees. My boyfriend never eats entrees at weddings but gave it a try and enjoyed the filet mignon and my chicken with salsa was also very good. I looked around the table and everybody ate their entrees. Desserts good and cake was very fresh and moist. Not sugary! A very nice experience for us.

Our Fairytale Wedding– April 12, 2014
The day we drove into the scenic and beautiful Old Tappan Manor, which truly felt as though we were arriving at someone’s elegant home, we knew this was the perfect place for us to have our wedding. From the beautiful grounds and waterfall, to the cocktail room, bridal suite and bar, every part of the venue is classic and decorated to the nines! The ballroom is simply magnificent and breathtaking. The chandeliers are out of this world and the lighting setup makes for such an incredible atmosphere for guests. And that’s just the look of the place, not to mention the EXCEPTIONAL maitre d and staff at the Old Tappan Manor.
Working with Martin Shanley from day one led to smooth sailing for a year and a half of planning. I’ll never forget how Martin said to us the day we met— this is YOUR day and we will make it special and unique for you. He did not disappoint– everything we wanted on that day, we had. My husband is a total food lover, so that was his area of expertise. When he and my dad looked at the menu options, their eyes just lit up! Everything you can imagine was on there and more. Our selections were sincerely enjoyed by all of our guests and some fan favorites were the raw bar with lobster, oysters and seafood of all kinds, handmade sushi right on site, a panini bar with cuban sandwiches and corned beef ruebens (showing our cuban and irish hertiage), the italian antipasto, pasta station, scampi station, meats… I can go on and on! Everything was enjoyed and there was something for every guest’s palate. Martin and the chef on the day of our tasting recommended three exquisite entrée options, that our guests selected the night of the wedding (a nice touch) and I’ve never seen so many entrée plates wiped clean after a full happy hour!
In addition to the spectacular food, the most special part of the day, to me, as the bride, was the comfort that our friends at the Old Tappan Manor provided. Martin felt like a part of the family and I knew if i needed anything at all, I could find him and he would take care of it. Having planned events for most of my career, it is so important to have someone to lean on like Martin. I trusted him to help us run the event smoothy and honestly, everything went off without a glitch.
Thank you Martin & everyone at the Old Tappan Manor for making my fairytale wedding come true. I without reservation recommend the Old Tappan Manor for any bride seeking a unique, memorable, personal and unforgettable experience.

My wedding was held at this facility and it was the worst mistake I could have ever made for my special day. I searched over 25 locations and picked old tappan manor because of its breath-​taking ballroom. I should have been more critical of the service I was receiving the entire year during planning my wedding.
1. They told me a cake was free with my package and would come from a little cake bakery in NJ. The baker gave me a free cake tasting and I picked everything out. On my wedding day there was NO cake!!!
2. I paid the manor for an extensive, dramatic dessert buffet from the same bakery they were supposed to get my cake and there was a single table with no refills… The pastries were from a frozen box similar to the ones sold at Costco. They were disgusting and my guests thought so too.
3.I was told that the facility only has one event per day– they completely lied to me and my wedding overlapped a bar mitzvah… My guests began arriving at the same time the bar mitzvah still had a Dj playing. My decorator had no time to setup and I walked down the isle 40mins late without any of the thousands of dollars I spent on décor for my isle setup. The only way my ceremony got setup was when I personally yelled at the catering manager, in my wedding dress while my guests were waiting outside of the venue.
4. The manor forced me to pay a maitr’d fee of $ 1000 but there was no one there coordinating anything the entire night. I had to arrange my family and bridesmaids to walk down the aisle for the ceremony and my friends had to help make sure that things didn’t run too far behind schedule.
5. I rented a sweetheart table for my husband and I to sit at during dinner and it was not setup with décor or placed where it should have been until we walked over to it with food in our hands that should have been already on the table… All in front of our 225 guests.
6. They left my bridal suite unlocked and when my husband and I went to retrieve my belongings, my purse and valuables were gone. They probably stole them!
7. The caterer I hired complained to me that the old Tappan workers began eating my wedding food before it was even served. He also claims that several platters of food were stolen at the end of the night.
Please please please don’t make the mistake of booking this horrible venue for any reason. It was the worst thing I did for my wedding and almost a year later I am still completely bothered by the events that took place and I will never have another wedding day… They ruined it.

just created a Unilocal account specifically for the purpose of questioning this facility. Their website says they do off-​site catering, and has a direct quote that says «no party is too small». But when my fiancé called them and asked for their pricing options for off-​site, the man on the other phone rudely responed «you want to do it at your place? We don’t do that.» And proceeded to hang up the phone on her. I understand not every catering hall has the capabilities to do everything off premise. But it seems like bad business to get surly with a potential customer for asking about a service you have listed.

Thank you one million times, Alex, and the staff at the Old Tappan Manor. We were married here on 8÷28÷2013. I can’t say enough praises. It was from start to finish, better than I could even imagine.
From our first meeting, Alex listened to our wishes, and having been in this business for decades, wasn’t shy to add his two cents.
The cocktail hour was more than plentiful. We were given six choices of stations and our 165 guests were never in want. Some of the highlights were the Mashed Potato Martini bar, the carving station (my father-​in-​law said it was the best lamb he’d ever tasted) and the risotto station. The Tuscan style cold-​food station was literally overflowing.
The reception itself is in a stunning ballroom with HIGH arched ceiling adorned with a dozen or so chandeliers. The main chandelier makes the one from the Phantom of the Opera blush. There is a large, marbled dance-​floor, which we used from the moment we were introduced until the very end of the reception with an hour or so pause when we of course had to make our rounds to greet our guests. The table service was immaculate. All of the staff were courteous, efficient, and professional.
The appetizer was waiting for us when we entered, and the main entrée of salmon and beef charbriand was to taste and then some. Most people say that the cocktail hour has the best food at most venues, but the Old Tappan Manor really came to bat for the main hour dining. I didn’t meet the chef, but he comes from the Rockleigh Country Club, which by the way, charges more than double what the Manor does. Having been to many functions at the RCC, I have to say without a doubt that the Manor is the better venue.
After the dinner, there was more dancing. The bar more than kept up with our thirsty crew. There was one incident when one of my groomsmen dropped and shattered his glass in front of the bar, but someone came to clean it without a fuss even though it was our fault.
For dessert, Alex gave us an impressive flambé show replete with high flames and circus-​like bottle tricks. The kids especially seemed to love that.
All in all, thank you, Alex and the OT manor, for the best wedding I could ever imagine. Even with our budget concerns.

After our initial venue cancelled on us three weeks before our 25^th anniversary party for 180 people, Martin at the Old Tappan Manor got is in for a great price. The place is beautiful. All newly renovated with a waterfall in the back and a side patio with high top tables. Great lighting, great staff and all very professional. Martin will take all your worries and problems away. We had an amazing night that will not be forgotten.

Flew here for someone’s wedding. Phenomenal venue, both inside and outside. The facilities are all gorgeous, from the bar to the event rooms. The décor and lighting were also breath-​taking. A previous reviewer, Sarah L, mentioned this used to be called the Colonial Manor and it definitely has that colonial touch. Very dramatic and vintage classy feel to this venue.
The venue has the main ballroom, I guess you could call it, where dinner actually took place. It has another room for cocktail hour and socializing before dinner. The upstairs room for getting ready was very nice too with a lovely view from the second story. There’s a small courtyard behind the main ballroom that had a large waterfall fountain facing the ballroom window, which served as an awesome backdrop for the ballroom festivities.
Really had a great experience here. A wonderfully coordinated wedding in a gorgeous venue as this makes for an unforgettable memory!

We recently had our wedding here. Martin Shanley was our coordinator. He was excellent. We had approximately 120 guests. The majority of my guests said it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to as the food and place were dynamite. The cocktail hour was plentiful and delicious. The main course and desserts were fabulous. Awesome in every aspect. I highly recommend.

The Old Tappan Manor (formerly the Colonial Manor) was the site of a good friend’s wedding earlier this month, and it was spectacular.
As you walk in, there is a large reception area with a nice bar. Through the doors to our left, we had «appetizers,» which was really like the first dinner. There were tables spread along the walls with different foods, such as fruit and cheese, sandwiches, a carving station, pastas, seafood — you name it.
Once the cocktail and appetizer hour was over, we went to the other side of bar to the main event room, which was incredible. The chandeliers were absolutely beautiful, and the centerpieces were perfectly arranged. Everything was very well done. Great sound system, awesome lighting, nice dance floor, tasty food, and professional service.
