Dining at a relaxed comfortable pace. Our food is all cooked to order so sit back, unwind and have a nice relaxing evening. Winner of Best of Berks for Best Country Hotel Restaurant in 2013, we offer homemade American cuisine as well as a Martini Lounge w/​live music on weekends. Choose from one of over 50 martinis, or from a variety of speciality drinks or wine, while you wait. We offer a large menu with many fresh (not frozen & fried) appetizers and a nice variety of speciality flatbreads. Entrees include seafood, steak, pork, chicken and pasta dishes to choose from. We also offer some vegetarian dishes, as we have a vegetarian chef, in addition to our Features Menu with some special dishes, that change from week to week. Reservations are encouraged, as they help us know how to staff, to serve you better. The transformations are in the food. Brian, the owner/​manager, has traveled extensively gaining culinary experience in many of the top restaurants throughout the US and Europe. His food is wonderful! We keep telling him to go on Top Chef… it would be an easy win (we think).

History

Established in 1979.

The land on which the Bridge Inn is located is part of the 461 acres the immigrant Johannes Yoder acquired from William Penn on March 25, 1714.

Isaac Yoder and his wife Lydia acquired part of this land on November 9, 1827 from Isaac’s father, John. The Inn was built prior to 1848. Isaac built the Inn and operated it until December 9, 1851 at which time he was forced to sell some of his holdings to satisfy his creditors. Two Weidner brothers bought the Inn situated on a 74 acre, 70 perch tract. The Yoder family continues to hold reunions and gatherings at the Inn to this day.

The Bridge Inn at Pleasantville was one of five situated along the Oley Turnpike at the time the toll road opened to the public, and is the only one remaining in operation. The present appearance is quite different from the original brick structure that greeted customers in 1948. The Inn operated as a speak-​easy during prohibition.

I manage the upstairs martini lounge and dining room so if you come in upstairs, I’m usually the first one you’ll meet. I’m here to make sure everyone has a great experience because it’s such a unique place that’s very unexpected and surprising. I personally really enjoy the place because of the atmosphere and the wonderful clientele that it draws and I want to make sure everyone else enjoys it too! Everything is cooked to order and the place gets crazy busy, especially on weekends, so plan on relaxing and taking your time. Reservations are definitely encouraged, so we’ll know how to staff for the evening, to serve you better.

Let me just start by saying the food is great! The ambiance is perfect for a date upstairs. Downstairs is good for a family. However, you probably shouldn’t go if you don’t have reservations and/​or have little children. The service was only so-​so. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t horrific. The hostess didn’t seem like she knew what she was doing but the manager was spectacular!

We went there on a Friday night about a month ago and it was very busy. We did not have a reservation but they seated us near the bar. I had ordered the scallops with bacon and a bbq sauce as an appetizer, Steak Diane and my wife ordered a Filet Mignon. We got our drinks and within a bit we received our steaks. I asked the waitress where my appetizer was she said oh they must have forgot due to being busy. After eating my appetizer after my dinner and we were in NO rush we had the whole night with nothing else to do. The food was good but for the price of the bill the slow service and forgetting our appetizer I was expecting better.

I got takeout for the first time today and really liked it.
Grilled chicken breast and roast turkey were very good with moist texture and generally done perfectly. I really liked the grilled chicken breast and the sauteed mushrooms. They could use more sides like broccoli and other green vegetables, though. Extensive menu.
I can’t really rate the service as it was a takeout order, but the website I used to place the order was really convenient. Everything was ready on time and packed sensibly.
The experience would definitely warrant another visit.

Came on a Friday night. Food came slow. Super slow BUT everything was delicious and service was nice. Had crab cakes and a vegetable torte. Very delicious! Maybe expect a wait on the weekend or don’t come hungry. But I’d come back for sure. Yum!

Party of 8 seated on the 2nd floor, food was slow even the 1 appetizer of mussels (very good n loaded with garlic). Everyone happy with their meals including 1 very picky vegan and one person who swears no one knows what a med. rare steak looks like. The only food complaint was the onion rings, they were over cooked and non-​palatable. Desert was also yummy, 4 of us shared a raspberry cheesecake. My biggest complaint is that they have seating and a martini bar with entertainment on the 2nd floor eith no bathroom on that floor which is VERY inconvenient. We proceeded to the lounge area for the music, ordered a 40.00 bottle of wine that the very slow server never OPENED. so finally 10 min. later we walked the bottle to bar and had it opened., perhaps Saturday is not rhe night to start a new server (hopefully thats hos excuse)

I was considering giving a generous 2… I’m leaving this review while sitting at the table. Thats how poor the service has been. Very slow service, never brought bread to the table, forgot a salad, informed a member of the party that her soup choice was no longer available upon delivery of the other soups. The «King cut» prime rib was 16 oz… Not much of a «King cut»… Delivered the wrong steak entrée…, and had a long hair in the food… Server arrived at the table visibly intoxicated on a stimulant of some sort. Snorting and fidgeting and licking her lips… When we complained we were immediately provided with execuses instead of apologies and comps. I rarely complain on Unilocal,but this has been pathetic. The server was bad, the manager was unapologetic, and it was overall in disarray. The wrong beer was served 3 times, and the said they would replace the original incorrect steak platter to go. 20 minutes later and the entrée never arrived. The final bill also didn’t come. We will never be back. I will NEVER recommend, and it’s a shame. It’s an embarrassment to food establishments that this «restaurant» is allowed to exist.

Was there at 1:30 pm 11÷28÷15 and asked for Italian hoagie and cheese steak hoagie. Place was not crowded. Finally by 2:15 got my sandwiches. Got home and Ugh, got a chicken steak hoagie, not a meat hoagie. Rolls too soft and stale and soggy. Hoagie seemed to have no flavor, no oregano, nothing, meat and cheeses tasted old. Tried to call them for two hours, phone off hook. I would not go there again. Lousy sandwiches, waste of money and my time.

If it were possible to give less than 1 star I would. I think they scrap the toppings off of frozen pizza to make their flat bread. The other items we ordered were just as terrible but I won’t waste your time. We left the food on the table. Do yourself a favor and skip The Bridge Inn.

The Bridge Inn is quite outdated. The décor consists of tables covered with thick plastic table cloths and paper placemats.
The menu was very large. And surprisingly expensive for the ambiance. The sandwiches and burgers were reasonably priced however.
I ordered a Rachel. (Reuben but with turkey). It was huge– basically two normal sized open face sandwiches. The flavor was pretty good, but the bread was very soft and soggy. I’m not completely convinced that it was even toasted.
While I was not impressed with the food or the ambiance, their beer menu looked quite good. I probably won’t be going back for the food, but I might return for drinks only.

Husband and I were doing a bike ride in the area and this place was one of the lone establishments we came across in our 50 mile route. Our expectations weren’t high — but man they were blown away once we got there! We thought it was just going to be a quick carry out type place, but the owner ended up opening the outside garden for us — so cute, with a fountain and music playing, it was a welcome haven. We got simple food, but the owner showed us the full menu, and they had a selection to rival most NYC restaurants. He even came out to give us a little sampling of Parmesan truffle fries — Ah. Maz. Ing. Next time we are biking in the area this will definitely be our go to.

Very nice place. The food was good… nothing exceptional. We especially liked the décor. soft lighting, several dining rooms. The service was very slow but the server was gracious. We waited quite a long time for our meals. We will return but will request a quicker service next time around.

So disappointing !!! Service was extremely slow: starting with a 15 minute wait to be seated (note that there was NO ONE in front of us); another 20 minute wait for someone to take our drink order. 20+ more minutes for the drinks to arrive and to place our appetizer orders. 40+ minutes later the appetizers arrive with the salads. Patty’s calamri is OK, but my ahi is overdone. Then we wait for our entres, and wait, and wait, and wait… 45+ minutes later (as we’re on the verge of walking out) the entres arrive. Mine isn’t really a crab cake, just crab meat over the pastry. Patty’s veal isn’t breaded properly, to the point where the coating is sticking to the plate. On the plus side — they didn’t charge me for my wine or Patty’s entre.

I’m upgrading my review of the Bridge Inn from three stars to four. The new owners have made some improvements. No major changes, but just enough, and in the right places.
For starters, the lottery machine is gone, with all the flashing lights. (See my last review if you don’t know what I’m talking about.)
Secondly, they cleaned up the place, including some of the cobwebs and dust in the corners of the ceiling. Nice.
The food is good, but not really gourmet. The wine list still needs a lot of work.
And I still haven’t actually tried the Martini Lounge on the second floor. One of these days I will!

This review is for the martini bar — upstairs… NOT downstairs as I have never eaten there…
The hubby and I love the Bridge Inn. We have eaten here a handful of times and have always been extremely happy with our meals (and martinis). Our first trip was to see a friend’s art show that was being hosted there. We enjoyed it so much that we have been back for «date night» quite a few times and even brought the in-​laws once.
One thing we enjoy is the diversity and creativity found on both the food and martini menus.
Usually when we go to The Bridge, we head there for a quiet, relaxing dinner followed by live music on a Saturday night. We have discovered some wonderful local talent (Rod DeGeorge is amazing) in the lounge.
The staff is wonderful! Always friendly and accommodating.
My only complaint about the Bridge’s Martini Bar would be that the dining room is tiny. Usually this is not an issue, it lends itself to the romantic, cozy, relaxing, intimate feel of the place. All of this ambiance can be ruined by a loud customer. Last time we were there, a woman came in soon after us and was so loud that she could be heard throughout the dining room. Had her conversation been pleasant, this would no have been a big deal. However, her topic of conversation was depressing and made me feel stressed (which one could not help but hear — really, she was loud — remember Roseanne Barr?). As if that was not bad enough, the conversation shifted to her case of MRSA!!! Here is where that accommodating staff helped me out. I asked to be moved to the nice, quiet table in the bar and lobby area… Tim and PJ (I hope I got their names correct) helped us move or food and drinks to this nice, secluded (and quiet) spot.
Because the staff was so great (and sympathetic) about moving us, I am not going to knock off any stars… We truly do love it here and will continue to return and recommend it to others.

Formerly the Pleasantville Inn past the town of Oley (10 miles outside Reading), the Bridge Inn is a place of many different personalities. There is a fancier dining room in the back with pretty pumpkin-​colored walls, casual dining and a locals bar in the front (shuffleboard!), and a martini lounge upstairs. They have added a nice outdoor area with a fountain. You can sit in the front windows and see farmers driving tractors by on the street, going from one field to another.
The menu is large, and the chef has been creating 2 vegetarian specials weekly, many of which are or can be made vegan. You would not expect to find such a thing out in the woods, so they are ahead of most area restaurants by simply offering two well-​though-​out plant-​based dishes that are not grilled vegetables or pasta or hummus. We tried the Mediterranean Lentil Salad, which was massive, served in a whole wheat tortilla bowl, and surrounded by baby arugula and fruit ($ 15). It was enough for two. There is a veggie burger on the regular menu. The waiter gave us olive oil (and balsamic vinegar) for our rolls, which was very nice. Yeah, vinegar, but it worked.
Get in on their Fb, because they post the weekend specials on Wednesday so you can plan. They seem to be going more toward vegan choices with their vegetarian specials, which is very cool. I’d love if the default was vegan and you could add meat or cheese (for a price). I’d also love if the chef would work in more nuts and vegan cheese. As we left, we heard the table beside us asking about the vegetarian food too. I hope people are supporting their creativity. Several years ago, I had an artichoke pie here which was amazing!
They pay attention to new liquors and come up with very creative drinks. These are called martinis but are to me sweet cocktails, tasty, but not a real martini, which is strong and lasts a long time in the glass. My Tanqueray and crushed fresh grapefruit ($ 10) went down way too fast, but I commend them for using fresh juices. They need to pay attention to the wine list however.

We were one of few parties who braved the driving rain to dine at The Bridge last night. We had a drink in the martini lounge before dinner.
There is no sound system in the lounge. Instead, they had a dvd of a jazz singer playing on a flat screen TV. Oddly, the TV was behind a curtain.
Despite being the only party sitting in the lounge, we had to wave down a server. Then, it took 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive.
The service at dinner was worse. Our waiter was rarely around (again the place was empty. The guy was dealing with three tables.) We noticed that when he did show up he reeked of smoke. Sounds like he was taking breaks instead of doing his job.
The food: I had steamed clams and crab cakes. They were fine, but simple dishes that you can get almost anywhere. Despite asparagus being a part of many dishes on the menu, the waiter told me they didn’t have enough to serve it to me as a side. Instead I ordered green beans which were horribly overcooked.
Someone in our party asked whether the eggplant parm was fresh. Our server explained that if eggplant appeared on the special vegetarian menu, it would be fresh. Otherwise, the eggplant parm is frozen.
The only thing this place has going for it is a martini lounge in the middle of nowhere were nothing like that exists.
