I think the only reason this store is still in business is because there is no where else to buy fabrics in this town. Awful. Awful. Understaffed. Understocked. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. NONE! Try to have some of everything and end up having very little selection of anything. Used to be a great store. Don’t even sell ribbon by the yard anymore. It is more a craft store than a fabric store. Sad that this the only store around selling fabric.
You would think that after all the bad reviews they would at least try to better themselves. Corporate greed!!!

There were so many things to look at and I got an assortment of items.
My sister had to buy sewing items and she was told by two other stores that she could only find the mesh fabric that she wanted at Joann’s. Meanwhile, I did last-​minute shopping to set up a special Valentine’s Day dinner for my family. I ended up buying baking items, pretty kitchen towel, fake tulips (for my momma because she hasn’t been gifted with a green thumb), a big mug with a beautiful quote on it, an adult coloring book, hand soaps, and most of these items were on discount.
The reason for the 4-​star is because the bathroom was DISGUSTING. Not just dirty, but so filthy that my conscience just would not allow me to rate this a 5. If this problem is fixed by the next time I go there, I’ll edit this review to a 5-​star for sure. Even if Unilocal allowed a ½ star off, I would have, but the other ½ star is from the chip in the mug. I noticed the chip after I got home and although I should have been more careful during purchase, it shouldn’t have been on the shelf in the first place.
The cashier girl was super nice and told me to look up more coupons online and she scanned several of them. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! Discounts on top of discounts. Make sure you bring coupons or look them up on your smartphone.
If I had a million dollars to spend in there, I could probably stay there for a week in bliss.

I didn’t want to pay for the extra 2 inches of extra fabric. She cut it off since I didn’t want to pay for it. It is basically unusable! The line to pay is 12 people long — one cashier.

There are never any associates available to help you out and when you finally find one after 45 minutes of wandering the store they no nothing about the products they sell. They are very unfriendly at check out not to mention you have to wait in line for 30 minutes to be rung out. I will be taking my business else where.

This store has no customer service. I was incredibly outraged at how long I spent looking for something as simple as safety pins. 20 minutes to find safety pins is absolutely unacceptable and you have not heard the last of me.

Understaffed is understatement both times I went the checkout line is past the pole politely let the manager know and she did nothing about pulling store reps to run cash registers. They have a good selection of supplies but once again the lack of staff reflects poorly on this store.

Went in because a friend in AZ told me of a large art picture she thought might look good in my home. I described the artwork to a clerk in the framing/​art dept, and she replied they had a very poor selection in this store, the store was smaller than others.
So I wandered around for a few minutes… I had on online coupon for one item at 40% off… and ran across the exact picture on another aisle in the middle of the store. I brought it back to the clerk and she said «Oh, I’m glad you found it.» Me too. Especially since it was marked 40% off. Then she said I would need a set of wire hangers, and I bought the set. Imagine my amazement when I got home to find there was already a set of wire hangers on the back, and also a wire attached.
Maybe two stars is a little harsh (it WAS on sale) but I’m still shaking my head at the incompetence.

TERRIBLY understaffed. Was in line for an inordinate amount of time and there were seventeen people in front of me before anyone even called for a backup cashier. Staff just seemed completely oblivious to it. Also, the prices are insanely high. Just wasn’t all that impressed at all.

The lines are not the best when it comes to waiting to get fabric cut. I also never see any customer service reps on the floor. So I hate having to pull a number just to ask a question about fabric. I’ve never used any other sections here because I spend so much time waiting to get fabric cut. I havent experienced a super long line at this location but I don’t doubt it.

Went there with my wife. I stood in the very long line that went to the back of the store while she got her craft items. Unless the items are on sale or you have a coupon this place is very expensive. They do have tons of stuff for people who love to craft. Again the line went way to the back of the store. They need to get more cashiers working in a timely manner so this doesn’t keep happening.

I went in for iron-​on letters for a shirt idea I had and although most of the store departments are labelled for ease of access I had the hardest time finding any of the items related to shirts and iron-​on designs.
The lady that helped me was really nice though as she walked me to the item (which of you’re in customer service is the thing to do rather than point). She apologized that they really didn’t have a lot. I now know why I couldn’t find the section as it consisted of half a wall of a 4ft section where it’s pay by the letter. They did have some sheets of letters which were cheaper in price and quality than Michaels but the single pay letters at $ 1.99 a letter can really add up.
The fabric counter seemed to be the hot area which was moving pretty fast. Even if I had convinced myself to buy the overpriced letters, one look at the semi-​long line at the checkout counter would have made me put my soon to be purchased items back on the shelf as I don’t like lines.

The checkout lines are always too long. Frequently one line open with 10 – 15 people waiting. Available staff seem to do other work instead of open another register, until they feel like doing it. Good selection but crappy customer service. Try Hobby Lobby if it’s conveniently located.

This is my second visit to this Joann’s. I’m very impressed with there selection of fabrics and trims. The staff, even though very scarce were helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back to purchase more of the wonderful fabric.

I honestly have NO idea how this store stays in business. They have the worst customer service. I am not exaggerating when I say that the last 5 times I have come to this store (out of sheer necessity for a kid project for school) I have had to stand in line with about 10 others with ONE cashier.
Whenever I know I have to go this store I prepare for the worst and expect the best but it is always the worst. You cant find anyone to help when you need it, the staff there is unfriendly and dont seem to really want to help.
I detest the store but it is the only game in town so I guess I am stuck for now… but if you can find what you are looking for elsewhere, I suggest going anywhere else.

When I shop here I expect the lines at checkout and have just dealt with it. One should not come here if in a hurry, just don’t do it as it will stress you. The ladies I feel do their best and so I haven’t taken the time to write a review BUT that was before I had to use their restroom facilities. Eeeeeek! I will except no excuse for how gross! Instead I can only assume management couldn’t care any less about their customers.
They are just a big store that ran the little guy out of business and provides crappy customer service.

While I appreciate that the store seeks to hire mature ladies who presumably are familiar with sewing and crafts, they need to bring them along to the present century and train them on the handheld computers.
I brought a bolt of fabric to the cut counter that I was unsure qualified for the sale they were having. So I asked how much is this? I know the scanner she has reads the current price, but I can only assume she wasn’t familiar with that function or was confident in her comprehension of the sale, since she said — Yes, on sale, without actually scanning it.
Well guess what — it didn’t ring up on sale. After 5+ minutes of her struggling with the computer to adjust the price, a co-​worker suggested she’d better double check the price on the shelf. Sure enough, she discovered no, actually, not on sale.
Quoting me the new price, fully double what I had been expecting, she just looks at me. No explanation, no apology, no assurance that I don’t have to get it, nothing. Just staring.
Of course I said, no thanks.
While I didn’t have to wait long for my fabric to be cut, my actual time at the cut counter seemed unreasonably long, and I would blame the majority of the time on a variety of co-worker’s ineptitude with their equipment.

I have finally experienced one of those long lines. This was back in September and I needed to get some fabric for a project. I have heard from many different people that if I wanted fabric to be cut, I had to take a number then do my shopping until that number was called. This was a bit of a wait so I called my MIL to see if she needed more items for the sewing project.
All items were procured, my fabric was cut, and went into a different line to pay for everything. I was in here for the long haul. I’m a fairly patient person, but many of the people in front of me were getting angry. This line was quite long and there were only 2 people at the registers. This was the longest line I have been in other than waiting for a ride at the county fair.
All of the employees were polite and helpful. There just are not enough of them.
This is a good place for sales and they have a free app that sends coupons to your phone to be scanned. However, I will be absolutely sure that if I ever need fabric that day my schedule will be wide open.

2 checkers. 15 people in line – and myself with one item. You can imagine my irritation when one of the checkers took a customer with ‘just a return’ ahead of myself and the 15 people. It was a ridiculous situation made worse by short-​sighted staff decisions. I complained and the manager was very good at saying sorry – like a well-​trained puppy aiming to please but, clearly missing the bar. I feel sorry for her that the company doesn’t provide her with better customer service skills.
This is a busy and poorly-​run establishment. Don’t waste your time or your money.

Wow, can’t believe how negative some shoppers are. This Jo-ann’s stocks THOUSANDS of items — many seasonal — and they have constant coupons and sales. Yes, the staffing level is low, but that makes the people who work there so amazing. They have to move in and price tons of stuff. Much of it is specialty, requiring knowledge to cut or handle.
Then there’s the nutball questions, like «How much do I need to reupholster my living room?» The sales gal asks «What are the dimensions of the couch?» and the customer says, «ah, well, it’s big.»
Savvy shoppers know to show up early on sales days — and avoid Black Friday all together. Sign up for the mailed coupons and shop earlier in the week.
I don’t expect spa treatment at this large, affordable emporium. And I don’t pay spa prices. The staff are heroic and affable.

Almost always terrifyingly busy and overwhelmingly potpourri scented, but they have good selection, sales, and coupons. :)
They cycle in/​out of seasons quicker than other stores, so you can find pretty good deals BEFORE the holiday happens easily!
