John H. Yantis, a certified Ballroom Dance instructor, has been actively teaching Ballroom Dance for 30 years and is currently holding group classes and giving private lessons in both the Olympia and Seattle Washington area. John specializes in teaching beginning dancers for social dancing or for special occasions.

If you are interested in technical dance instruction, Pro/​Am Dance Competition Training might be for you. Competitions are where you share your enjoyment of dance in a formal setting where certified judges rate your performance along with other dancers and their teachers. John coaches both American Smooth and International Standard in this popular competition sport.

History

Established in 1983.

John has been an independent dance instructor at the Washington Dance Club in Seattle since 1983. Because the club closed its doors in 2013, John teaches at different centers.

In Olympia, John teaches at the Motion in Balance Studio, 219 Legion Way SW upstairs in #203-​A across from Capital Lake. This is the current and correct address.

In Seattle, John teaches at two places; the Swedish Cultural Center and the Russian Club on Capital Hill. You can find John’s Yelp page for these locations by searching Seattle.

Teaches both American Smooth and International Standard covering Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz and in the Rhythm and Latin for Cha Cha, Rumba, Mambo, Swing, Jive, Bolero, Samba and Paso Doble. In addition, John also teaches the popular social dances West Coast Swing and Hustle.
