Simple Cloth is a mom-​owned business specializing in the retail of modern cloth diapers and quality baby carriers. Originally established as an online business in 2007, Simple Cloth grew into a downtown Olympia WA storefront by August of 2008. Although the downtown storefront closed in May of 2016, Simple Cloth continues to operate online at www​.sim​ple​cloth​.com. Local consultations can be scheduled through the website.

Simple Cloth was founded as a result of the owner’s desire to find a diapering system for her baby that was affordable, effective, and convenient to use. After an online search for modern cloth diapers, the owner purchased, tried, and fell in love with them. Her friends and family couldn’t believe how simple the diapers were to use, with NO pins, folding, dunking or plastic pants required. Everyone wanted to know where modern cloth diapers could be found to purchase… and Simple Cloth was born!

She holds a degree in International Relations from Boston University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from The College of Charleston.

I love all the natural products available, but their advice on washing diapers is awful. We had the worst experience with using the only detergent they offered and with the amount they recommended (which was 1Tablespoon.) My sons butt literally had bleeding sores all over because I used the recommended detergent. And they wanted me to strip with Dawn Dish Soap. Yikes. All around, I’m not a fan. But glad everyone else had good experience with them.

Love this place– drove down to learn about cloth diapering and what we would need. They were more than helpful! I love that they ship free over $ 50 too, cause I don’t live close–
I am only giving 4 stars because as much as I love kids, I find it unprofessional to bring your child work. It was very distracting if you want to sell something ;)

I have visited this store a few times and have had a pleasant experience each time. The owner is super nice and was very helpful when I was trying to decide which diapers I wanted to try. I was very pleased to see all the natural products as well as American made and/​or manufactured!

I suppose I’ll be a voice of dissent here. I’ve actually been to this store several times, both buying gifts for others before my pregnancy and again for myself. EVERY time I’ve been there it’s been nothing short of an annoying hassle. I’ve only made 1 purchase there because I get so rattled I have to leave. The owner (I think) I found to be overbearing and rude. My husband and one of my friends didn’t particularly care for the way she treated her child in our presence either. A sales gal, red head I think, is always SUPER loud. The shop is barely larger than a Mini Cooper and she feels the need to shout at you. Reminds me of Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist (We’re in a tiny car, not a train station!) We are constantly bombarded with details about products we aren’t looking at, «oh I see you are looking at that cloth diaper, let me show you this random toy/​bottle/​pamphlet on mothering while standing on your head.» Just obnoxious, I know what I’m looking for, just leave me alone and let me choose!!! All that doesn’t even mention the cost! There are so many more «local» places you can shop online, that are still in the US and have way more selection, that you could pick up your supplies. Because their service is shoddy and prices are so high, I wait until I am visiting family in the Vancouver (WA) area and go to Cotton Babies instead. All of the info, all of the supplies and none of the trade mark Olympia «customer service». **Cough, cough — pretension — Cough, cough**

After reading some Unilocal reviews, my husband and I stopped in to Simple Cloth today to get some info to help us to make some decisions about diapering our first child, who’s set to arrive in a couple of months. We had a fantastic experience. We were given the DL on all the different kinds of cloth diapers, including instructions on cleaning, good advice for how to travel when using cloth diapers, the differences in options, etc. It was fantastic and eye-​opening, and the advice was given to us by someone who has tried all sorts of different options with her own daughter.
After talking in depth about diapers, we moved on to talking about baby carriers. We learned all about the Ergo vs. Maya vs. Moby wrap and got to try them on, with a baby doll in the slings.
We felt no pressure to buy anything, and were encouraged to think about things and come back with any questions. They told us they can special order different colors of wraps for us if we want something other than the limited colors they carry.
Bottom line: we found the saleswomen to be super knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely helpful.
And, of course, there’s nothing better than supporting small local businesses!

Very informative and helpful. I do recommend this store. They have a great selection of products from ergo baby to diaper liners.
I have edited my review after speaking to my daughter about our first visit. Long story short, my first visit (yesterday on a Sunday) was a very uncomfortable when the employees disabled daughter broke her hearing implant. I felt like the employee may have been a bit harsh on her daughter but I am trying to understand how hard it must be to parent a hearing impaired child. I was left kind of shaken until I spoke to my daughter this morning. It looks as though the little girl was having a fit and was put in time out. I hope the employee and her daughter have better days because I know the other customer and I were quite shaken after we left. We even spoke about the incident after…

Great customer service & they have a HUGE selection of cloth diapers. I went a few minutes before they closed just to take a quick peek and the lady working there was helping a couple with their registry. She did very well balancing helping them and checking in on me. She also provided great information on the current diapering system I have at home. The store had closed and she informed everyone that there was no rush. This is my new go to place or diapers!

Nothing but good things to say about Simple Cloth. The husband and I ventured in here a couple of weekends ago, 8 months pregnant and determined to cloth diaper. I had already picked out the systems I wanted and was ready to purchase from online retailers, but figured we could check out the store just to play around with different systems and get some advice before making such a huge commitment. I’m so glad we did. We were basically given a free class in cloth diapering, we weren’t pressured to buy a single thing, and now we both feel infinitely more confident that we’re making the right choice in going with cloth.
We ended up getting a little bit of a few different systems, and intend to try out even more. We truly have enough diapers for our little one’s first few months, and it wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be. In fact, when all was said and done (we got diapers, a wipe warmer, wipes, and detergent), we ended up having enough for me to still sample some of the brands I wanted to buy online that the store doesn’t carry. Not only was the staff super friendly, but other customers that ventured in while we were there and overheard our questions were also happy to offer up advice.
If you’re considering cloth diapering, you probably already know it can be an overwhelming thing to jump into. I could not recommend this store more, even if you have no intention of buying. They won’t force you to buy! But you may get addicted to adorable fluff.

I can’t say enough great things about this business! I contacted them in search of an amber teething necklace for my daughter and they were not initially in stock but they took my name and email and contacted me as soon as they were (which was about a week later). I promptly purchased one and unfortunately it turned out to be a size too big. When I brought it in to see if they came in smaller sizes my exchange was gladly accepted. They told me it might be a week or so but they would check on special ordering a smaller size. It was Friday when I was in the shop and to my surprise come Monday morning there was a brand new necklace in the new size waiting in my mail box! Very friendly staff and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! I will definitely be back!

I had bought some used cloth diapers elsewhere and went to Simple Cloth to get some accessories — detergent, bag, wipes, etc. The employee was very helpful and answered my questions fully. She made great recommendations based on my budget and the needs of me and my baby. I only wish I would have come in here before I bought my used diapers — I think they’ll work, but given my baby’s size and age it would have been more appropriate for me to buy a different system. So come here first before you Craigslist — at least you’ll be better informed.

I was in search of an Ergo Infant Insert and I googled where to find one locally because I didn’t want to buy it off the Internet (grow the community!!!) This cute little shop came up and I was so happy to see it was open on Sunday because I really wanted to use the Ergo.
As we walked in we were greeted right away from a friendly young lady with lots of knowledge of the products they have on hand. She taught me how to use the insert (even using a baby doll) and also showed me proper ways to use the Moby.
Super cute shop wonderful help, so happy I went and thank you;)

I came in today to get a better handle on what we are looking for in cloth diapers. I found the store through a recommendation of friend of mine and was glad I did. Although we took a cloth diapering class, the options still felt overwhelming. Marisa at the shop helped me through all our options and it allowed us to narrow down our choices.
They are super knowledgeable and very friendly. Any and all questions are welcome! They have a great selection of cloth prefold diapers, and a wide range of covers and pocket diapers. They also carry baby carriers, swaddle blankets, and cloth friendly creams.
They offer a registry too!

My mother-​in-​law bought me two starter packs of two different cloth diapering systems from Simple Cloth. They included covers, pre-​folds, and a diaper-​sprayer. My mother-​in-​law was very happy my husband and I had decided to use cloth diapers on our new baby and told us the staff at Simple Cloth thoroughly answered all of her questions in regard to the ‘new-​fangled’ pinless diapers.
Both varieties I received were easy to use. My husband and I have gone back to the store to buy more diaper covers. Staff is very friendly, informative, and does not pressure customers to buy-​out the store. The lady we talked to told us we were welcome to come in and purchase items as we needed them. She also told us we could buy in bulk on the Simple Cloth website if we chose.
We will come back to browse the selection of adjustable baby slings since all of the baby backpacks I’ve tried from various department stores seem to be made for folks who are taller than 4’9″.

Although the store is quite small in size, it’s packed with product. I came here when I was pregnant and dabbling in the idea of cloth diapering my child. The owner was super nice, attentive to my questions, and informative about the products she carries.
Simple Cloth carries various brands of cloth diapers, prefolds, covers, appropriate diaper detergents and other cloth diapering accessories, baby carriers, and natural baby products. You can also start a baby registry with them that people can either buy things for you in-​store of via their website, which offers free shipping for any order over $ 50.
I’ve been to several cloth diapering stores around western Washington and the Portland area, and I have to say that the service and inventory at this store is one of the best. The drive was about 1.5 hrs from where I live, but it was totally worth it to see and touch the products I’d only seen online, and for all the information I got from the owner.

I am totally blown away that little olé Olympia, WA has a mega cloth diapering store and Oakland, CA (where I lived and used cloth diapers for four years) did not. Well done!
They carry every diaper you’d ever want to try, all the latest and greatest accessories, and a fair sized selection of natural parenting products (slings, bottles, teethers) as well.
