Springfield Township, NJ
Moved here for college from the east coast. Olympia is a pretty chill «city». It’s filled with wanna be hippies, wanna be punks and old people. The down town represents that perfectly. Lots of antique shops and quirky coffee shops. Most good restaurants don’t stay open past 6, and any restaurant open late is usually also super sketchy.

Olympia is just okay. It has the capitol along with access to the smoking hot Seattle area economy and pristine beauty. Their downtown is somewhat exciting, but a lot of the city is mere houses or shopping.
This city is not as nice as Eugene and Salem however, because they have a nice subtlety. I’d live closer to Seattle if possible. The lakes and ambiance are nice though. This is also only an hours drive from Seattle. There is lots of loud trucks downtown, but there are some nice bridge arches at other places.

Olympia, WA
This location is actually the Olympia Community Center, although the listing is for the city itself. As for the city, I love Olympia. It is small but still has a lot of variety. There are locally owned business, not just the mega store nonsense. People here are very friendly, although it can be hard to meet people if you aren’t already connected (try volunteering or just crashing parties).

Been to Olympia several times, and went there after I had gone to Shelton.
Olympia is the former home of the Olympia Brewery– which I do believe Olympia beer is now brewed in Milwaukee. :(
It is also the State Capital of Washington State, The Capital building is very nice building and been through it– marble everything lol. (Of course paid for by tax payer dollars)
I am very impressed with Olympia, and its worth checking out if your in the area.

Vancouver, Canada
Came to Olympia Center today for their Oshogatsu (Japanese New Year) Celebration. It seems to be be organized by the same sister city group who does their Bön Odori… this is unusual for our area, because usually Bön Odori festivals are held around a temple.
I was impressed by the attendance at the event and seems like it could grow into a very nice annual event. They’ll need to work on the food though… I’ll just leave it at that.
The Olympia Center is primarily a senior center. It’s very nice, light and fairly roomy. Olympia Bön Odori practice is held here also.
Main thing to watch for: LAME-​O parking when there are events.
