First off they have the best employee on the planet in the plumbing department his name is Jim and he’s the only reason I’m not giving this store a one star, he alone deserves a 5 star my major gripe is Home Depot tells customers that they will meet and beat anybody else’s price by 10% this is absolute crap, I will go to Lowes from now on, I went to buy a sump pump and when I got to checkout I informed the cashier that Lowes offers a 5% discount if I use the store credit card and could they please match it if I use my Home Depot credit card not asking for the additional 10% that they promise. He informed me that they don’t offer the 5% match anymore and the only discount that they can do is a military discount if I was military, a lot of good that does me since I’m not military. I think I’ll be taking back my purchase tomorrow and heading to Lowes to save money. He also told me I was the only person to bring this up, I doubt it since they used to have a 5% off match at every check stand at every Home Depot I’ve ever been to up until today! Stand behind your promises and you’ll stay in business by doing this type of thing you’ll be the next Ernest hardware!

NEVER order window blinds from this store!!! I cannot stress this enough! We’ve had the worst experience possible, and 2 ½ months later still do not have our blinds installed.
First we went into the store to discuss our options for blinds. We paid Home Depot to come do the measurements for 13 windows in our home. The measurement guy called several days later to get the appointment set up, then it was another week until he came. Once the measurements were done, it was another week before hearing from the store that they got the measurements and were putting together a quote. We were told to come into the store to finalize the order– I thought this would be a 10 minute thing– the woman who helped me was very nice but completely incompetent with both her computer and her knowledge of what was going on. She had to call her manager out two or three times during the process for help. I caught a few errors in the order that needed to be corrected, but when correcting them she actually screwed up the order even worse, which we didn’t find out till later. About an hour later after a long and tedious appointment, we finally wrapped up and I paid for the order. She told me everything looked good and that the blinds would be in within 10 days, but assured me they always came in earlier than that, and we’d get a phone call right when they came in the set up the installation. 12 days later I finally called the store after hearing NOTHING. They said that the blinds had just come in that very day and now I would need to wait to hear from the installers who would call and schedule an appointment to install them. Another few days and they called, but were booked over a week out so it was about another week and a half before they actually came. Frustrating. The installer came, and we realized that over half our order was incorrect. Two came broken, one was left off completely (apparently the lady who «fixed» our order actually deleted part of it), several were the wrong type (2 inch instead of 1 inch), and three had been incorrectly measured and were too small.
I finally called and talked to the manager, letting her know how frustrated I was and that we expected them to fix all these problems. She told me that point she had a «specialist» that does all the blinds stuff, which would have been great to know in the beginning, and I would have made it a point to only work with him instead of the other woman who messed things up. So we had to go into the store again, and were assured that they would expedite this process since they messed things up– it has now been two weeks, already a few days longer than we were told, and the blinds are still not even to the store. This has by far been the most frustrating experience I’ve had, and there are way too many different people and steps involved in this process. Please go elsewhere if you need blinds to avoid this big mess!

A very mixed review of this HD. This location seems to have a chronic staffing issue as in good luck finding someone when you need them. I was in their seasonal area next to the garden center and there were zero employees in there for over 20 minutes and when you are by yourself and looking to buy a grill that weighs over 140 pounds you might need help getting the box off the shelf.
There is also a display of merchandise in the area that defies all rules of marketing. There is a wall of grilling accessories of which over half of them are out of reach. I am almost six feet tall so that means 70% of the items are out of reach for many of their customers. I would have considered buying a pizza peel along with the grill but I did not bring my harness for wall climbing.
The person working the register in the garden center appeared to be someone in a management position who was also on her walkie talkie trying to get people to help other customers. She did apologize for the short staffing and making me wait to ring up my grill while she dealt with other issues.
This location is fine if you need an item or two and know where to find them but if you need any kind of assistance you should budget lots of time.

I usually frequent the Tacoma location because its more convenient (near Fred Meyer and my bank), but sometimes I find myself closer to Olympia (near St Pete’s hospital), so I walked in and looked at the cork flooring for a small cabin project (under 200 sq. ft). The guy insulted me by saying that I’d need a «privacy curtain for those times when I wanted to take a dump while my husband was watching tv», because my house was so small. I mentioned that I had an open floor plan and would think about interior walls after the flooring was put in. They called me several times to remind me of the inflated estimate for my flooring project, but I never called them back. Though I did return recently to purchase a ladder, I was again disappointed when I found that the selection was so small and hidden at the end of the insulation aisle in the back of the store. Other locations have entire aisles dedicated to this indispensable tool. What’s a hardware store without a good selection of ladders? Even Walmart has them! This Home Depot is the smallest and most disorganized location I’ve experienced so far. Don’t waste your time.

Ok in the end, but not a great experience…
I placed an order for a tool box and a number of other items online with the hope of picking everything up quickly and not having to spend a lot of time in store. I arrived shortly after receiving notification my order was ready. My first disappointment was when the customer service rep told me I could not receive my military discount because my order was placed online. This was silly because I did not receive any special pricing. I purchased merchandise available in store at the same price. I challenged this and they had to refund the original order and place it again with the discount. It was worth the hassle for the 10% discount — about $ 60 for this order. The hassle should have never happened. The outcome of their policy only inconveniences customers who order online. I do, however, appreciate that Home Depot offers a military discount.
My main disappointment was when I proceeded to retrieve my order. I had to talk to several people after the military discount discussion to find someone who could help me locate the merchandise I was there to collect. When I finally reached it, I discovered they picked the floor model of the tool chest I ordered rather than one new in a box. I asked if they had one in a box and they did — but — it was stored overhead and would have had to be retrieved. I expected they would have done this before my arrival. The floor model was missing pieces and would have been difficult to transport without a box to protect it in transit in the bed of my truck.
At this pint, no big deal. I asked them to retrieve the tool chest in a box. After about 30 minutes, they finally brought me the tool chest in a box! Yay! My elation turned back to disappointment within seconds when I realized the box they brought could not have been the whole tool box. A quick glance at the box confirmed my fear (carton 1 of 2).
During my 20+ minute wait to get the second carton an astute customer service professional asked why I was waiting. I explained and she quickly offered a $ 50 discount on the tool chest due to the inconvenience. This was a little bit of a saving grace. I would have preferred to pay full price and have everything be ready when I got there because I had a huge «honey do» list waiting for me, but it was nice to finally encounter a customer oriented person who could recognize the service was sub par.
I’m sure I’ll be back eventually, but only if absolutely necessary.

So orginally I was going to give four stars. The people at this Home Depot are super friendly and I really enjoy talking with them, and getting taken around the store.
However, the guy we were directed to as the tile expert, gave us lots of advice… much of it wrong we later found out. The tiles we bought for the floor? Yeah, they are only rated for walls and could crack and get easily scratched on the floor. The grout he recomended? Way harder to use than the other kind we had been considering. There is more, but basically it ate up a lot of our time going back to get the right stuff.
Home Depot is great if you already know exactly what you are doing. Take any advice given with a grain of salt as big as a your head.

Well, how can I say that best. They’ve tried hard, been friendly but left me with a bitter sweet taste after all.
I’ve given them two jobs.
#1 was excellent in plan and execution, the counter tops been just marvelous, super durable and everything the guy from this department promised. The price for it was very reasonable.
Now with this in mind, I’ve contracted job #2, replacing all doors in my house. All started as with job #1, but then came the day in which the installation was planned… Let me say this beforehand, if it wasn’t for the installer, this job would have been to be considered a super fail.
After my initial meeting with the department guy there, the installer came, took all measurements and we settled for a date for the installation. When he arrived, it turned out, the sliding door was too short and needed a secondary base else it wouldn’t have fit at all. Unfortunately this door came in this height only, yet the department guy while running the measurements, should have seen that and informed me, that we need to find an alternative for this. Than the entrance door was dented, also due to bad quality assurance while sending the installer out with the material. Biggest fail was, the fire Door was so out of measure, the installer had to practicality rebuild the entire thing to conclude the job.
The store manager was to an degree helpful but I found while spending a sufficient amount of money there, they should have acted way more customer friendly…
Would I contract another job with them? Let me say it in this way, I’ll play it by ear and see it on a case by case base.

Came Here looking for replacement parts for Kitchen Fan Hood which we purchased here. Left still looking for the same parts. Why can’t these places stock replacement parts for the stuff they sell?

Been going to HD for many years. The staff at both the Olympia & Tumwater stores do as well as can be expected. Usually go in knowing exactly what I am looking for. Pricing is ok, not great. Went to the Olympia store for storage bins.

Both an ex military 40ish and a cashier named Sharon made this a pleasurable experience. I’m glad this place has some good employees.

As if it’s not enough that this place is a corporate chain, the quality and prices are erratic and inconsistent. Sometimes I find great lumber here, other times it is all gnarly and twice the price of anywhere else in town.
Mostly I use this place as a comparison shopping point. I’m really into comparison shopping, but I rarely end up making a purchase here if I comparison shop!
The staff is as hit-​or-​miss as you would expect from a place like this. The appliance lady is awesome, but other people seem inconvenienced by customers asking for help or directions.
Regarding the garden center — don’t buy plants here! Dear god, if you care at all about your garden, don’t buy plants here! They are not suited to your climate, they are not well-​cared for, they are not well-​potted, and they have a high chance of spreading disease. But sometimes they have cheap/​reasonable deals on things like cedar grove soil or seed starting supplies. If you see something you want in the garden section, buy it. They probably won’t have it next time you come, and they will probably never stock it again! For example, their coconut coir bricks were a great deal, but once they sold out, the employees acted like they never carried coir and would never carry it again!
