At midnight last night, soda machines were all out. Cups of ice left everywhere. Cashier should have been a prison guard. Awful scowl as he rang up customers. No thank you or anything. Maybe he was mute!

Large convenience store. Lots of selection. Open after 1:00AM when I needed it. Not sure what a convenience store can offer to get five stars.

Been going to Cubby’s for years. The place has excellent beer prices, and It is my go-to spot to get a quick six-shot of delicious brews. The prices on frozen pizzas are almost exactly those of the large grocery stores, and in combination with the aforementioned excellent beer prices, has led to numerous poor yet tasty dinner decisions :) The prices on basic food items are a tad higher, but the price is worth the walkable convenience of the location. There are some considerable downsides, however, that must factored in. The parking lot is cramped and is a bear to navigate. At least one of the gas pumps(I believe #2) does not work, so be prepared for a game of musical gas pumps when filling up. Also, if there is only one person working, the lines can get long. But the folks that work there work hard for money. Lastly, none of the dozen or so lottery tickets I have bought there have won :) but they sell both Powerball and Mega Millions.

Cubby’s downtown is nice place if you need something any hour. There is always a sheriff during the late hours to keep things in order for the late night drinkers. I like the deli & produce section, and the new beer area is pretty sweet. They have a wide variety of beer/wine/liquor to choose from, and most of it is already cold. It’s been around forever and has its own kind of charm.

Stopped in here while running some errands in the market and i have to say its A-Ok with me. They do have some pretty good treats in here and the BBQ is hard to resist, i almost caved but i wouldn’t know how to explain the sauce stains on my vegan hubbies dry cleaning :) The employees are quite nice too and i do have to say the prices are a bit high but Cubby’s is a very convenient stop in the Old Market.

I used to always stop at Cubby’s for beer after work and sometimes a little lunch to take to work, Of course their prices are high, like any convenience mart. The last year or so, there has been this older«gentleman» manning the registers. I get the feeling that he is an owner or manager, that is just«manning’ the registers, to save money. The young kids that were formerly there were great, never had any problems. This guy gets pissed, if you give him a twenty dollar bill. I gave him a twenty, and he spreads my change all over the counter, so it took me a few minutes to get it all together to put into my wallet. Thanks a lot, Buddy… He also doesn’t like it when you buy lottery tickets. If they guy didn’t have subdued anger going for him, he wouldn’t have any emotion at all. So I have a message, «Hey, old guy, if you’re that unhappy on the register, hire some kid, who would like to have a part-time job and can at least smile once in awhile. If I was rating you, I would give you minus ten stars.»

If you’re staying at one of the nearby hotels, Cubby’s is insanely convenient just for stocking up on essentials like water, snacks, maybe some fresh fruit if it’s past free breakfast time at the Hyatt. It’s also great for those of us prone to headaches on those trips where we knew we forgot something and couldn’t put our finger on what it was… oh, yeah, I remember. Tylenol. The prices are definitely higher than HyVee, but if you’re sans car, it’s a lot more convenient. And, the staff this afternoon was incredibly nice, especially given how rude most of the kids stopping in for trick or treat were. I’m a fan!

I stop in here fairly frequently for things such as soda and lotto scratchers… you know, the essentials… the people that work here have always been friendly and there’s some surprisingly good eats and treats here, though I disagree with Mike S about the mashed taters here lol… it’s yet another convenient stop in the Old Market for the essentials… however, their prices on certain items can be a bit high, even for being in the Old Market… oh and if you come when the bbq is cooking, you won’t be able to resist the urge to buy some lol

I stumbled in here trying to get cash back not wanting to pay an ATM fee. No go, their computers aren’t set up for that. Get with the 21st century! None-the-less, they did have an ATM machine thanks to my relief. The store itself is kind of cutsie. They have a little bit of everything. A little less than a grocery store and a little more than a regular gas station. The cashier was super friendly, and prices looked normal.

Normally love this place. A bit expensive but worth it due to the convenient location. Have been a loyal customer for years, however, received some atrociously awful service from a man named Larry the other night. He used profanities and screamed and customers. I honestly believe him to be schizophrenic or mentally ill. Until they fire him I don’t recommend going there.

Cubby’s has been a staple for me. For things like gum and condoms to made to order grilled cheese sandwiches, this is the only spot to consider downtown. The bad part is, they know that. I unusually go here twice a day during my work week and at least once on my days off. there is one other option downtown and until we get a Hyvee I will continue to give these guys and gals my money. The beer selection is top notch. From IPAs(yum) to BL they have it. Special release bottles? got them too. I am excited to go to one of the wine pairing events near the end of each month. the place gets packed! Special requests for cooked items can be met and served to you with a gracious smile. they all know my name and greet me when I come in. I always thank them by name as well. the only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the markup on some of the beer is undue. About 25%. With as much as I buy I think they should have a punch card or rewards system.

They have a little bit of everything here — hot food, cold sandwiches, craft beer, crappy beer, fancy tea/coffee/soda/energy drinks, basic groceries, fresh produce, a totally legit meat counter and gas. All in a prime Old Market location. In lieu of an actual supermarket being located anywhere near downtown, Cubby’s, and a similar spot up the street, is about as good as it gets for grocery shopping in the area. Which is all honestly is A-OK with me. Sure, prices are a little higher than say, No Frills, but the fact that you can actually WALK to Cubby’s for lunch, groceries or whatever(that is if you live or work downtown) makes it indispensable to the area.

They have a great selection of wine, beer, and specialty drinks. Many of which you cannot find anywhere else in Omaha, or only in select places like Whole Foods or Wohlner’s. I come here whenever I am in the Old Market to pick up a new type of drink or maybe a snack. Always been impressed by their employees but not some of the people who can’t remember how to drive.

Yuck. Went here on a hot morning to get a soda and it was like someone took a Coke and shook it and sprayed it all over the fountain area. It was super sticky and gross. I guess it’s a convenient location for those who live in the Old Market, but the prices seem not so great(it’s a convenience store, so I guess that is to be expected)…

My main impression of Cubby’s is that it’s way better than you’d think from looking at the outside. The hot food is so-so, but they have decent deli and meat counters, and their selection is surprisingly comprehensive. Since Patrick’s opened they’ve brought in a bit of slightly higher end stuff as well. Great selection of premium beers.

We filled up the tank here today — and when I went inside to pay, I was amazed to discover it’s not just a(large) gas station. It’s also a nice grocery store and it also has a cute(small) restaurant section that’s somewhat reminiscent of a diner.

Am I really going to review Cubby’s? Yeah I guess this is happening. So let’s set the stage. It’s 11pm, and you need craft beer. Also, maybe corn dogs. Lucky you. Going into Cubby’s you might just expect a gas station, because that’s what it looks like from the front… and yes, it is a gas station, but it’s also much, much more because no other gas station I can remember being in has sold Delirium Tremens and steaks. Since I’m only there intermittently(not being an actual Old Market dweller) I can’t comment on the pricing for actual grocery store shopping, but it has things you need. That spells convenience to me. And who doesn’t love that cute bear logo?

Pretty much the only place to buy necessities in Old Market. I guess that’s why it’s a convenience store. Beware of people begging for money outside.

If you’ll notice, the fountain soda cups say«The Beary best in Convenience!» An apt slogan for a place where one can refuel a car, buy a salad and choose from one of the better beer selections in town! The staff is one of the most attractive and friendly ANYwhere!
