Ed Zorinsky Lake & Recreation Area

This is an okay lake, only tried one spot today and spent about 3 hours there. Caught a ton of blue gill mostly, and a couple of baby large mouth bass. Pretty average experience. Nothing that really stood out to me here but it wasn’t horrible either. We will try it again soon, I seen a few big fish flop up out of the water a few times. Hoping to catch one of those next time!
Didn’t see much else, I seen part of the trail by where we were parked. Decent amount of cars there, and lots of people out walking/​running/​riding bikes. I would come back and walk/​run the trail. Seems pretty smooth and easy to run on, also pretty clean here.

Always well kept. Nice scenery. I really like riding my bike here. The trail is always clear of debris. I see deer, blue heron, ducks, geese etc. it can get a little crowded, but it is still nice.

It’s been ages since I was out here to run or bike, mostly because we live on the other side of town now. However, since we got our dog, we have been encouraged to re-​explore the great outdoors as a family and I am loving it. Lake Zorinsky is not only peaceful and beautiful, but something about being landlocked and still being able to be around water is soothing to this Hawaii born and raised girl. The lake offers limited water sports (kayaking, paddle boarding) due to the depth of the water, but still it adds some excitement and something to look at as you walk, bike, or jog the perimeter. There are brushes of trees lining the perimeter and some parts of the 2 mile loop even make you feel like you’re in a forest surrounded by trees with no road or lake in sight. I love that. Summer, Spring and Fall are all excellent seasons to visit. Multiple parking lots at different parts of the park and lots of great options nearby to eat or grab drinks after.

I love Zorinsky! Great place to hang out, walk, run or bike. As a female, I feel very safe out on the trail by myself. Fairly clean but you will see some garbage around the lake here and there. I do have a couple of complaints though– more garbage cans around. I walked for awhile with a bag of dog waste and couldn’t find a place to dispose of it. Also, maps would be helpful. One of side of the lake is longer. I am not sure how many miles or where the trails connect on the 156^th and f side.

My boyfriend and I passed by this place but have never actually walked around it. We finally went Memorial Day weekend and let me tell you it was memorable. There was so much to see and do. It’s a great place to walk/​run, fish, chill on your boat or kayak… sooo many options. And on top of that the day was perfect… It was Fantastico!

It is about a 7 mile trail that is filled with great views of the lake and wooded areas. I love running here, it is the perfect length and people are generally friendly people with the same goals in mind.

I longboard (skateboard) around this lame as often as I can. It’s a little over 7 miles to do both sides (I think…). Friendly active people, very polite. Clean facilities. I even had a birthday party here when I was a tween. This is my zen place and is very significant to me. Love coming here. Very good asphalt. Well maintained and cared for. The fishing isn’t very good, though.

Love this place. Always good scenery and if your looking to go on a run or bike ride it’s in my tops for places to go. Maybe even in the mood for fishing theres several docks to fish from. Great park with many outdoor opportunities to choose from

Lake Zorinsky is the epitome of Omaha natural beauty. I even see deer eating in the woods every time I run here! Located about one hundred blocks west of downtown Omaha, Lake Z is 1,023 acres of pure, unadulterated nature. My favorite time is the early evening when everyone is finishing off their day with a run, bike ride, walk, fishing, etc. Very nice place to relax and enjoy the great Omaha spring/​summer weather! Zorinsky is a must-​go whenever the weather is nice enough for it.

Wow… I had to add this park to Unilocal.I am not sure what the heck is (not) going on in Omaha. Why is an out-​of-​towner like me the first to review? This is a popular place. Several soccer fields can create a traffic nightmare on game days. Anyway… the park centers around a lake. Omaha has several other parks like this. Chalco. Standing Bear. There is a 7.2 mile trail around Zorinsky. Bike and run it to your hearts joy. It is open, wooded, residential, wild, lakeside, hillside… a little bit of everything! You can cut mileage off by using 168^th St as a connector, effectively making the trail a figure eight.
So, how do you access this dandy park?
Main entry and parking is off 156^th and F. Avoid that on weekends. Soccer games will take the wind out of your sails. There is parking and access off 168^th were it crosses the lake on all but the SW corner of the bridge. If you like to go stealth enter from the adjacent neighborhood connector trails. There are about 10 and they are all clearly visible on Google Maps satellite view.
