I’m driving down Blondo, 95 degrees, just got done with kick boxing, windows down trying to cool off… hot.sweaty.mess. The solution? Something cool and sweet to eat. I read an article saying that there is a new Ice Cream place near 168th and Blondo so since I was in the neighborhood, I thought why the F not! I drove up to the place and the OPEN neon sign wasn’t lit. I thought this was strange since it was almost noon and my belly was about to throw a tantrum if he didn’t get ice cream noooooooow! A lady walked out of the building and I asked her if the place was open and I’m guessing it was Kate, because she immediately apologized and told the register guy to turn the effin light on! Awesome! We’re good to go! Apparently the place is also a pizza place, which I have yet to try so for this review, I’ll focus on the cool treats and not the hot eats. There were three flavors of custard: vanilla, chocolate and raspberry. You can mix and match and ask for different toppings or you can get pre-made frozen treats. I decided to get a sundae but was a little disappointed… I think I paid $ 2.50 for a little cup of custard… I got a standard vanilla flavor with raspberry sauce and of course a virgin cherry on top. Everything was just so plain… like I was bored after the first bite. For some reason in my head, I thought a sundae had bananas and more to it, but when I got home I went to and it looks like I was wrong. There is actually a sundae diagram on that site if you care to take a gander and that’s pretty much what I got here. So the moral of the story. I don’t think I would could back here because for me it’s normally waaaaaaaay out of my way and why would I ever want to go anywhere but Red Mango??? I tried it, was bored, I would give it two stars but I guess ice cream is ice cream so you can’t really go wrong. Just don’t expect your tummy to be grinning from stellar frozen custard after you’re done.
