Well, I went back and got me that steak. Two inch thick T-bone that melted like butter. I brought it up to ambient temperature to cook it like any man who cooks a steak should. When I grabbed it, I could tell the dry aging process had done it’s job, it was softer than a pillow. Hats off to you Stoysich for the best steak I’ve had years, YEARS!

If you ever find yourself on I-80 in Omaha and need to be transported back in time to a 1960’s wood-paneled butcher shop, go no farther. This place is a living, breathing«meat museum». Great meat selection(the counter is one of the longest ever) with dozens of fresh sausages and probably a hundred different frozen sausages to choose from. Nice selection of beef, including some dry aged. I’ll stop back one day to get some meat. This 3 star review focuses on the beef sticks: they were too dry. Although they had interesting flavors, they really weren’t that good, especially for $ 1 each. Come for the endless variety of other things, not the beef sticks.

I love meat markets. This one is just OK. The bacon was very good. I did not prefer the jerky. I tried two different sausages. My local Hy-Vee does bratwurst at least as good. They did have plenty of unusual harder to find items that the local supermarket does not have. It’s OK. I’m not sure I would visit again.

How could I not come to a place entitled House of Sausage? As many others have already said, it is indeed a meat museum. Had I had a grill with me, I would have likely tried some of the sausages. When we walked in, lights were low as if it were a Detroit based meat shop that was having trouble paying the bills. I wasn’t sure if they were open or what. I then moved deeper into the shop, and turned the corner to a huge selection of jerky, sausage, and meat. I got my brother in law an 11 for 10 deal, with a variety pack of fresh, mixed jerky.

Awesome service, great hunter’s sausage, steaks, meat, and cheese. This place has an old school Butcher vibe that is totally missing with the modern day super market. Decent prices for awesome meats. I will be sure to go back!

We love the jerkey from Stoysich! It is pricey but worth the cost. We have also tried their sweet bourbon marinade which is also very good. This is the place to go if you want quality meat.

I like the looks of this deli very clean and very friendly staff. I know the meats they sell are high quality but the cured meats are so salty I can’t eat them. I have bought sausages which are lean and flavorful but again the salt makes me have to drink water all day. I bought a corned beef for St Pattys Day yesterday and again it was very salty. I cooked it low in a crock pot and it was tender but still dry and I don’t know if that was from over curing it or what. plus the price was outrageous at 10 dollars a pound. I was very disappointed. I have tried the other stoysich deli on Q Street and the processed meats are every bit as salty.

I love the huge variety of sausages and jerky. Quite simply, the fresh andouille makes my gumbo authentic tasting and delicious!

This place is the real deal. The butcher told me they make 140 different sausages on site and I hope to someday sample them all. However, based on refrigeration restrictions I went with an assortment of jerky and it didn’t disappoint! Go now if you appreciate a great old school deli.

This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship! I stopped here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty. As I walked in it smelled like an antique store and as my eyes adjusted to the dark environment, before me lay a 50-foot long glass museum of meats and cheeses! O My! Three men were behind the counter, and the big gray haired fellow helped us out. He explained to me what they do there, that this is a 3 generation family owned business, and the awards they have won over the years. He was quite energetic for a big fellow, proud and what impressed me… he was not even a Stoysich!(one of the other younger fellows there was). But trust me, that guy has worked there for years and i truly enjoyed visiting with him. This place makes sausages. I purchased Cherry brat, Apple brat, All beef wieners, Omaha dogs, Andouille Sausage and a pound of thick cut bacon. Cherry brat 4.5 Apple brat 3.0(just not a taste I was fond of) Omaha Dog 5.0+++ I have not tried the rest of my haul, but this weekend it will all be gone, trust me. The Omaha Dog is a wiener that some will remember from their childhood. You will NOT find an equivalent in a grocery store. That is why it is served at the College World Series! It had the snap when you bit into it and a perfectly spiced, smooth texture and mouth feel that was incredible! If you are in the area, just stop in. I will be surprised if you don’t leave with something and you might be as happy as I am now!

I stumbled upon this place when I accidentally took the wrong exit off the freeway and was curious about what was inside. The butcher is very knowledgeable and has been in the business for about 50 years! The variety of sausages is excellent, I got the Boudin and Andoiulle(I was told by the owner that he won first place in Louisiana with this recipe, so I had to try!) They also cure a lot of their own meats in house, I tried the house capicola and the pancetta. They also have a great selection of ground meats, steaks, and anything else you can think of. The service was great, very friendly, and locally owned.

I love Stoysich. They have the best all beef hot dogs I’ve ever had and their sausage is outstanding. It is so fun being able to get fresh, quality meat, as well as bakery items and other fun stuff, like jearky, dog bones, sour kraut, etc.

The first time we bought sausage from them it was FANTASTIC! The second time it was WAYTOOSALTY… Not sure if there was a new person in the room but I’m willing to give them another chance.

I’ve bought sausage here off and on for a lot of years — maybe since the 70’s when I last lived here. Most of their sausage is quite good. I’ll have to try the Reuben mentioned by another reviewer, the next time I’m in Omaha. One thing I love is family run businesses, and the Stoysich family brings out the best! One of my favorites is Czech Jaternice sausage, and I have been disappointed for maybe ten years with theirs. It seems mushy, which is strange, and shouldn’t be an artifact of being frozen. So now I go to Frank Stoysich’s(near 64th& Q) when I’m in South Omaha for Jaternice to take home to California. That works out well, because I can get Bohemian Rye at Lithuanian Bakery(33rd&Q).

The day I went in they had six or so types of sausage fresh in the case. I was thinking the reputation was a bit overdone. Then, I asked and was directed to the frozen case where they had more types and flavors than I could count. We got the Greek sausage(frozen) and the Italian sausage with tomato and romano cheese(fresh). Both were good. The Greek sausage wasn’t hot but did have a lot of spicy flavor. The hit at the tailgate was the Italian with T&RC. They were big and had a lot of flavor.

Yummy wieners(though they pale in comparison to the Beranek days of OK Market in Wahoo. Sigh.) My daughter and I eat them cold in the car on the way home.

If you think you have a favorite sausage or sausage store you frequent, you better stop here before you go any further. I have been to numerous sausage places across this country from LA to Boston… and Stoysich just topped them all. I had a great opportunity to sample a good variety of sausages here. I ended up buying a cheap grill at a Wal Mart and had an abbreviated tailgate party in the hotel parking lot. Abbreviated cause I was the only one there… But I was able to cook the sausages over hot charcoal so the casing skin was tight and hard so that it had a pop and crunch when you bit into the sausage The Greek sausage: 5 stars. The spices were right on for«Greek» food. It was on the spicy side but the taste was just great. The Cajun sausage: 4.5 stars. The meat, seasonings were as good as I remember having in New Orleans The Ruben sausage: 5 stars for creativity. This tasted like a Ruben. Very unique and good. The Hot Dog: 4 stars. The quality of the meat, the textures, the flavor was just great. Why four stars? I still think Nathan’s has the best hot dog for flavor and texture. If you don’t like the taste of Nathan’s, and want a more mild flavor, Stoysich might end up being your favorite. The Buffalo jerky: 5 stars. I saw this and had to try it. The buffalo flavor really comes though with this jerky. Buffalo definately has a different taste than beef… in fowl the word would be gamier… buffalo is stronger tasting but with strong game overtones. They didnt over salt or over season the jerky which is so easy to do. There is the right enough salt and spices to cure the meat but not alot to over power the taste. Overall, this is a 5 star establishment. The people behind the counters are extremely patient and helpful I ordered one of everything… one hot dog, one sausage per flavor. The man who helped me was extremely patient as I tried to make up my mind. When I made my selection, he individually wrapped each sausage in its own wrapping, labeled what it was, and sealed it off with butcher tape. Service here deserves 6 stars on a scale of 5. The store has hundreds of unique items to browse. And most importantly, they are being creative with sausages. If I had a longer trip here, I would have tried many more sausages.

This place is the greatest. It is not just sausage(although they do that better than anyone, as suggested by other reviewers), they are a VERY knowledgeable butcher shop. Stoysich’s can provide you with pretty much any cut of meat you want, and will cut it to your specifications upon request. If you are looking for the best meat in omaha, this is where you go.

This is the world’s best sausage. It is so awesome. They have such a great variety of sausages and can even give you advise on cooking etc. They also have some wonderful red peppers to put on the sausages. They will also ship sausage for you.
