History

Established in 2011.

The Green Spot opened in January of 2011. Full service grooming services were added after the first year of business. Since then, we have tripled our space, from 1300 sq ft originally to over 3300 sq ft now! Our product selection and offerings have grown along with our space and we are proud to offer the widest selection of natural pet food & supplies in the Omaha area!

The Green Spot is locally owned and operated by two sisters, Jessica Ellis and Whitney Kamish. Together, they bring a vast amount of product knowledge, nutritional information and positive regard for animal welfare. Their combined backgrounds in the retail and pet products industry help them to guide their customers to make healthier and more sustainable choices for their dogs and cats. Their mission is to succeed in educating the public on the benefits of healthy living for companion pets, being a community resource for consumers interested in living more environmentally healthy lifestyles, and emphasizing the belief that pets truly flourish from natural, organic and eco-​friendly living in the same way that humans do.

Absolutley Love this pet shop. Pretty sure this is a locally owned business but I should ask huh. The quality of all the supplies and foods is amazing. Nothing cheap and crappy here. The groomers are great and just love what they do. This is a must stop shop for your fur babies.

My FAVORITE pet store. I keep forgetting to review this place. I honestly go here for all my pets needs. Prices are slightly higher than most, but it’s worth it. Great customer service. Great natural per selections. Plus the groomers are all awesome. 5 stars all the way!

Used the self-​serve wash station — it’s fantastic! They provide EVERYTHING. They had a rubber apron for me to wear while Belle was hoisted into the tub. Safety restraints in the tub were very helpful as my pup does not like baths. They had soap as well as ear cleaner. And when we were done there were plenty of towels and a hair dryer. All of it for only $ 15, it’s a steal. Then I can go home to a clean bath tub with a clean pup. Best deal in town.

They have self-​serve dog washing stations, I find it hard to believe you can beat that!
They also have a decent selection of dog bakery items. I wanted to get Millie her birthday cake but all the cake was made of peanut butter which is a no-​fly zone in our house. The rest of everything turned out to be really good — including her birthday attire. Very nice, clean, well stocked store. Very impressed

Absolutely love this place. All the staff members are knowledgeable and nice.
Their self dog wash is a life saver. $ 15 and you can wash, condition and dry your pooch’s coat without having to clean up afterwards. Perfect for the times in between grooming appointments.

There is no better place in town to get your animal’s supplies! I am a huge supporter of local businesses, especially ones like this that or only have a fantastic selection of high quality foods, but also educate their customers on their choices. You won’t see Purina or other brands like that here, only the top best brands of natural foods without additives and grains. We have been feeding our cat Ralph raw food recommended to us and his coat has never been softer. Plus, they have an excellent selection of raw treats, safe toys, and awesome cat trees. We got our friends with dogs hooked too! There’s no where better if you’re an animal owner!

I have been using the Off the Chain delivery service for months now and absolutely LOVE it! I get to shop online and try out all of the different kinds of foods and treats for my dogs and then have them delivered right to my front door! For free! The Green Spot called me yesterday to inform me that the puppy foods I purchased was out of stock. I told them to replace it with another brand that was comparable and that it was for my two foster pups. I said I would pay the difference if there was one. Whitney from the Green Spot sent me a text later in the day telling me they were comping the difference and said it was their way of thanking me for fostering. How great is that? Awesome place, awesome products, and not to mention, HUGE supporters of rescue!

So life happens and I haven’t had time to given my 2 dogs a bath in like, eekk over 6 months??? Gross, right? In the past I’ve given them baths in my own bathtub and then had to clean dog hair out of the drain for weeks! Double gross, right? I like to think of myself as a DIYer, so the self-​wash dog was right up my alley and I could keep my bathroom looking cleaner longer. Plus my dogs are my babies and they really are big babies when it comes to being groomed so handing them over to a stranger at PetSmart for 3+ HOURS (yeah, way too long IMO) or any stranger for that matter usually ends traumatically with them vomiting in the car on the way home. This experience was far less stressful for them.
Green Spot has 2 dog washing stations; both equipped with shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaner, brushes, towels and a high powered dryer that looks and sounds just like a vacuum only it blows rather than sucks. The tub is nice and large and there are 2 rubber covered collars attached to on each side (which will keep a dog pretty well stationed in the tub), so you don’t have to worry about getting your own harness or collar wet in the process or having your dog jump out.
I went around 5pm on a weekday and both stations were open. They had a cheap «gate» that can be pulled across the station opening so if you have more than one dog like me they will be contained in your wash station and won’t roam the store. There’s also a bar along the wall that you can attached your leash to and tie them up closer to you if desired. Everything about the set up is great for giving a dog a bath… I just wish the dryer sounded less like a vacuum.
For $ 15/​dog it’s a great deal if you enjoy giving your dog a bath and they offer a second dog discount of $ 5 off. Pretty sure my girls will NEVER go 6 months without a bath again at that price and convenience.

Very helpful and friendly. Self serve wash is thoroughly cleaned every time. They also offer a nail cut or can file down your dog’s nails– recommended. A good pet food, treat and toy selection located right off 72nd and Pacific.

Being straight up, my new Boston Terrier was just pooping way to much… A guy from my apartment building recommended I change to raw for dog food. My first trip to The Green Spot hit the spot… thought I was talking to a committed employee… but it was the owner, Jen, walking me through what was best for my pooch… Pugsley and I are now faithful patrons!

Love this shop! I switched my dachshunds over to a raw diet and had a zillion questions. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and are always a huge help. Their selection of dog toys is great too. Definitely worth checking out if you’re a dog owner!

I love the new expansion! It’s a lot more roomy to walk around with my dog and the merchandise selection is larger. I like the little enclosed coffee area and really love the do-​it-​yourself dog grooming area. It’s a great option for someone like me who doesn’t want to do it at home but doesn’t need the full service grooming either. My dog and I are in and out of there in about 20 minutes and she still has a smile on her face! The staff are all very helpful and remember my dog’s name.

I am always looking for super friendly pet shops with awesome healthy food choices for your pooch and this is the place! They literally have everything you can imagine from raw food to pet wigs! There is a great selection of treats that are so specifically made, you can get them to be the exact match for your pets diet. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. I did take my dog to get groomed here and she is a really scared and nervous baby so it made me uneasy to leave her but I did. When I picked her up I could hear her crying in the back because she was alone and I’m not sure how she was held back there but if it was in cage I feel so terrible. She was a rescue that was locked in a cage majority of her life. That was the only issue I felt uneasy about. When they brought her out she looked fantastic and so cute! Like a stuffed animal you would pick out of the claw machine! I will definitely be back but maybe stay closer so I can pick her up faster!

This store has a fantastic selection of raw foods for cats and dogs. My cat was on the Primal Raw so I found this place on their website upon moving to the area. They are always super friendly and helpful. I love that they have e-​receipts so they don’t reproduce in my purse!

The Green Spot has been so wonderful to me and my little rescue dog, Chico. Chico was having some behavioral and health issues during his first year with me. The Green Spot staff answered countless questions and provided the most knowledgable information (even more than his Vet could provide) visit, after visit. The Green Spot did everything they could to help me solve these issues by getting Chico on the proper food and offering new behavioral advice/​tactics, etc. Sweet little Chico is doing wonderful and is now fully adjusted to his forever home, healthy as can be! I am thrilled with their customer service and their genuine love for dogs! They even greet Chico by name when we walk in :) I highly recommend this store to all dog AND cat lovers, alike!

I visited The Green Spot for the first time today for a grooming appointment. I was pretty pleased that I was able to schedule the appointment morning of, but that’s about it. I specifically told the groomer I did not want her to trim the curls on top of my dog’s head, but when I returned an hour later, they were trimmed. And the fur on his face, which is usually trimmed to follow his jaw line, was completely butchered. Really disappointed, especially considering the grooming for my 30lb dog was $ 65.
Not sure I’ll be returning for another grooming…

I have been talking about this place since I first found it a year ago. Nearly all their stock is organic down to the soft hemp dog harnesses and earth friendly rubber toys. When I initially walked in I immediately begin pushing through the collars and leashes, trying to figure out what would be best for my growing puppy. The sales lady at the counter shortly met me in my pile of merchandise and was VERY helpful in finding an adjustable harness to fit my pup. On top of there wonderful supply of environmentally friendly items, this local small business also works with a pug rescue.
Bottom line: good souls run this nirvana of a pet boutique and it is nothing short if revitalizing going in here with my dog.

This place is pretty neat. I love the colors inside the store. The owners are friendly and are more than happy to give you advice on anything you need. This store has A LOT of different products, etc.
That said, 99% of it is geared towards dogs. I LOVE dogs, that said, I only own cats. I love the location of this place, but only finding myself stop in once a year because of their complete lack of cat products and food.
I really hope the Green Spot considers adding a greater variety of cat food/​products and toys. Otherwise, I’ll keep giving my money to other local businesses.

I always bring my dog here to get groomed and usually buy a few toys for her. The staff has always been super helpful. When I pick up my girl after her bath, she looks really pretty and soft, plus I can tell she hasn’t been stressed out by the experience at all.
This is a great store with caring knowledgeable staff, and your dogs will love it too!
