This was usually our grocery store when I was growing up until WalMart moved in down the road and stole a lot of the business. I loved this place and often remember the watering from the river running right up on the side of the building when it would flood in Oneonta. I would love to have a Hannaford’s in Tulsa now if they could find a place in between the 57 WalMarts we have here and 32 Targets(and yes I’m being only slightly dramatic here).

Large lovely store. Wider aisles. Great prices. GREAT people. NO annoying discount card – hate those cards! I love Hannaford – I also love their Hannaford brand items. Their frozen Hannaford meals and desserts are great – give them a try! Oh – and their deli is the BEST I’ve ever visited. Other stores deli people, when asked questions, say«um, duh, yea, I think so» or «I DUNNO.» The deli crew at Hannaford(even tho they may be saying ‘oh no, here she comes again’) are ONIT and helpful and know their stuff!

Like this place a lot more than the Price Chopper. For one, they don’t ask you to carry a card to get discounts. Its a bit smaller, but it feels more amicable. Good selection of natural products, fruits and veggies.

We’re big fans of this place, having never encountered a Hannaford’s before venturing to upstate New York.(We’re used to miserable, cramped, mortifying supermarkets or upscale, snooty, rude ones.) Hannaford’s takes a relatively enlightened approach to the business of running a supermarket. Health/nutritional information is posted by most of the food products to support conscientious shopping choices. The store is clean, bright, and coherently organized. I agree with the reviewer below about the great quality of the fish counter(and, for that matter, the locally produced Ommegang beers!). I also appreciate the excellent supply of fresh fruits and vegetables, including a good multicultural selection. Some of the fresh baked products are also of surprisingly high quality. The organic and«health food» selections are reasonably good as well. This is particularly important in a rural setting where certain ingredients can be hard to come by. Here’s a small but revealing fact: this Hannaford’s carries locally produced honey from beekeeper John McCoy, who runs a modest apiary just up the road a spell. We like it that a big store like Hannaford’s cooperates in selling the product of a local beekeeper. Last but far from least, we have never once had an unpleasant or subpar encounter with a worker in this store or a cashier. How many supermarkets can claim that?!

I like this supermarket better than Price Chopper. For one thing, they have a superior seafood section. They have four packs of Duvel at a good price, and they alse sell Mahon(a Spanish cheese). Alas, they changed the reipe to their own tomato bisque soup, and that is not as godo as it once was(it was quite good back then).
