If you have a roof and been looking around for a good solar panel installer look no further. To be honest I was skeptical hiring this relatively new company with no reviews but after having gone through the process I can confidently say I got the best price for the best product with best warranty in the industry.
First of all, all potential customers need to be aware that not all solar panels are made equal when it comes to quality and performance. There are a lot of different brands and they are manufactured all over the world. I can’t speak for other brands but what I can say is that the panels ANS Solar provides is top of the line made by S-​Energy, company based in South Korea, which is hugely successful with yearly profit and has completed multiple solar farms in Europe and Asia. You can just go to their website and download the spec sheet for their panels. The warranty is 25 years which is unheard of.
Second, you have to be aware that solar panels are useless without inverter that changes DC current (produced by solar panels and everyday household battery) into AC current that comes from your power company and into your electric outlets. Now here is what most consumers don’t know and which I only found out during my research. There are two competing technologies out there when it comes to inverters. String inverters (including power optimizers) and microinverters. To put it simply string inverters invert entire DC current produced by all the panels on the roof at single large inverter placed by the side of your house near the fuse box. This means 100s of volts run through single inverter. This is high voltage system and if the inverter goes bad the entire system is down. If one panel goes bad the whole system is slowed down. Solar edge provides modified power optimizer string inverters. Warranty is 10 years.
The other system is microinverters, a small device that attaches to each panel, that inverts only the current produced by each panel. This system acts independently and if one inverter or panel goes bad only that panel is affected. Major provider for this type of inverter is Enphase which is what this company uses. Warranty is 25 years by Enphase. You can go to their website and read all about it. Microinverters are a little more expensive but this ANS Solar company price was actually cheaper. Besides the price there was no question what was better. Microinverters. Enphase also provides software for PC and mobile app that let’s you monitor each panel with hourly, daily, monthly, and yearly energy production individually.
Third, if at all possible buy the whole system and do not lease. Big companies will try to sell you large system with zero money out of your pocket but if you do the calculations all you are doing is letting them use your rooftop space and you are paying them money to do it. They keep the 30% tax credit and you end up with someone else’s property attached to your roof with possible lien placed on your house. When it comes time to sell your house you are going to either buy the whole system or take it down entirely unless the buyer agrees to take over the contract. But mostly you don’t save much money by leasing. You will save some money but what they don’t tell you is that every month you have to pay them fixed monthly payment even if you are on vacation or don’t use much electricity. Basically your house becomes an electric generator for the grid. That’s why they will try to sell you 100% usage for your house. That’s another point you should keep in mind. You don’t need 100%. Any number of panels you buy will save you money in the long run. Don’t get pushed into buying maximum number of panels and end up covering your entire roof top. It’s not a pleasant sight.
Now the good part about this company. ANS Solar price includes city permit fee, construction engineering fee, installation, inverters, Enphase Envoy (device that lets you monitor on PC or mobile phone), panels, and all labor. I never went to the city. Never called the engineer or designer. Never called the electric company. And the whole process took 2 months flat. Signed the contract on June 19 and on August 18^th (today) got the signed copy of the city inspector. The whole process could not have been more simple and hassle free. And the price? Unbeatable. Trust me. Or trust your calculator per watt paid. The guy I worked with was Kenneth Cho. He took care of all the paper work and the actual installation took just three days by two licensed electricians who have years of experience. No exposed silver conduit like some poor solar installations you see around town. No blind drilling of the roof to find studs. The job is done right.
