Ninja Japanese Steakhouse & Bar

Pretty nice place to eat. They offer both table service, and hibachi dinning. A lot of different choices from both the sushi menu, and the dinner menu. I would recommend making reservations if you want to sit at the hibachi tables.

I’ve had some really good food far from major metropolitan areas (between the lines that means I’m a city girl who was overjoyed to find a hibachi restaurant WAAAYYYY outside the city), but this wasn’t it. I had the hibachi scallop and shrimp combo. If it were not for this place showing up on my credit card statement, I would completely forget I even came here. I came with higher expectations that were not met. It was not the fault of the restaurant.
The service was quick and friendly. I was greeted pleasantly and with smiles by everyone. I was seated promptly. The portions are a nice size. The scallops were a little larger than bay scallops. The décor is a wonderful upscale clean look.
What happened you ask? The flavor and seasonings seems to be in somebody else’s lost and found box because they are not in the kitchen! This is perhaps the most forgettable $ 30 meal I’ve eaten in 6 months. Maybe I should have had the sushi, the reviews are better for the sushi.

Always great food and great service! My whole family loves this place. We have always had the hibachi and was pleasantly surprised to receive both fried rice and noodles. Their prices are competitive as well.

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have more stars. I thought the sushi was great and the wife liked the hibachi. The place was really clean and so were the restrooms. Wait staff was good and had drinks filled reasonably often. Will be back.

Ninja is a new restaurant in Ontario, Ohio. It has is new growth issues… but the sushi is great and the lunch special is different than the other sushi joint down the street. I am a sushi and saki lover… so i dont mind waiting for the sushi because its delish. Dont know about the hibachi side of the performance but the sushi side is worth trying out!

Great table service that was quick. Drinks were kept filled the entire time. Chef was very personable. I’ve been to several Japanese steakhouses over the years and the food just didn’t compare to other locations, thus the average rating. Normally, I have enough food left for two meals when I get home. I ate the entire meal at the restaurant (I’m not a big eater, either, weighing in at only 130 pounds). Because of this, it made the value of my dollar for the amount of food diminish. The ginger sauce had an interesting citrus flavor that just didn’t do any thing for me.

The only good thing I can say about this place is that it looks nice. Went here on a Saturday night at 7. Place was not packed, but I will call it a good crowd. The place was grossly understaffed and those that were working were lost. We sat down and waited 10 minutes to get greeted for our drink order. Another 5 minutes and I finally got my draft beer. We places our order for sushi and our meal at the same time. Waited another 20 minutes and nothing. My beer went dry after 10 minutes and after sitting there with an empty beer for 10 minutes I got up and went to the bar and got my own refill. Now the waiter did say he would make sure he added that to my bill. Much to our surprise our main meal came and still no sign of our sushi. We were almost done and ready for our bill and out came the sushi. I told them they could just keep that. After getting my bill I told them to make sure it got adjusted because I never got my included soup or salad. They did take off 20% due to my poor experience, but let’s just say I won’t be back.
Wokano is right down the street and is much better.

Eating here for dinner: Servers were accommodating, but seemed a bit confused at times, Beautiful restaurant, music is nice, soup is excellent, salad is lacking, servers seem to be forgetful and we have had to get our own chop sticks and soy sauce. The hibachi chicken and the fried rice were subpar!!! Do not spend your money!!! Drive the hour to Polaris!!!

This was comparable but has a slight edge on our other local Hibachi choice. We had the Hibachi chicken & filet mingon. The starter soup & salad was a better flavor than «the other place»… But it was a little less authentic Japanese. Still it tasted better but maybe because it was more America friendly if that makes sense. At ninja the hibachi tables prepare fried rice and you will pay extra if you want plain white steamed rice. Our American chefs assistant/​server handled glasses from the top rim which was aggravating. They are a slight bit more generous with the sake which is always a plus if you’re into that. Overall this is a better hibachi steakhouse than our other area choice. If there is a slight price difference it was worth it. Taking out of towners to our local hibachi? Choose a ninja.

My wife and I are Wokano regulars, so the bar is pretty high. We sat down to café’ style seating (strike 1). Our server, the bar tender, greeted us and explained that they didn’t have a draft beer selection right now, had I asked that would have been a good response but I didn’t. We ordered our drinks and let the server know that we would like for her to explain some of the items on the menu. She did and had decent knowledge but nothing like we are used to. I ordered the sea weed salad and it came out with way too much dressing and other stuff I didn’t need in there and tasted like whatever the dressing was. My wife said her salad didn’t taste right and it didn’t, it’s wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. at this point we were ready to begin the main coarse and a refill on drinks. So we waited and we waited and we waited some more. (strike 2). Finally our food came and the Hibachi chicken and steak came out and my sushi and sashimi came out and the were room temp and it became a texture thing and I had a hard time finishing it (very unusual) and the rice was falling apart and the deep fried roll was soggy (close, very close but not a strike) then my wife was eating her hibachi and said it tasted more like Mexican than Japanese so I tasted it and agreed.(are you ready for it… Strike 3) I’m sorry the intention is there but the execution was not. We both walked out of there and headed straight to Wokano and had good sushi and she got her hibachi chicken and steak (yes it was worth paying for it all over again because the flavor was there and the service was great) Wokano you have nothing to worry about.

Ninja has great rolls and hibachi. The hibachi chefs are entertaining and more fun than other places.
To the people saying go to Wokano… That place is gross.

We had an outstanding dining experience. All the ingredients were flavorful and our cook was highly entertaining. He had us laughing throughout the meal.
The atmosphere was delightful and the waiter was very attentive to our needs. I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends. Great job!

The worst service ever. Warm beer and appetizer never came despite asking twice. Go to Wokano for great sushi and excellent service.

First time that we tried this place since it opened. Had heard only good things about it. We were sadly disappointed.
First of all, the draft beer we ordered was room temperature at best and when we pointed it out to the server, she stated sorry which was the first of about 50 times she uttered that during our visit. We had a party of 4, ordered a simple appetizer to share and it took forever. We asked the server and she said it would be 2 more minutes; however, when the first two of the four meals came out, we still didn’t have it so we cancelled it. Then the third meal came out and it seemed ok, but the fourth plate didn’t arrive for another 10 – 15 minutes. 3 of the 4 meals came with soup or salad and those were never delivered until we asked about them after the meals started arriving in waves. Then we had no drinks or silverware and the server was no where to be seen. We went to the bar to get our own water and silverware, but she said just a moment and continued pouring wine for several more minutes as I stood and waited and it was clear that she had no interest in helping us. We told the server that this was a horrible experience and she said sorry.
Sushi deluxe bland and boring no variety to fish selection and fried rice was tasteless.
In the end, the server brought us bills and took 10% off for our trouble. That was $ 4.00. We won’t go back or recommend this to anyone. If you eat sushi in Mansfield go to Wokano and skip this place.
I would have give 0 stars if I could have. We do not blame the new server for our experience. Good management would not have left an untrained server to take care of valuable customers. We usually never complain but this was probably in the top two worst experiences dining out that we have ever had.

Sushi was phenomenal, but we had a hibachi chef that was horrible. Sorry but get hit in the face with food is not pleasurable. Our chef even burnt one person at our table by throwing hot food. Not a single person at our table would ever go back.

Awesome sushi! I would give the sushi alone a 5 star! Hibachi was good, you didn’t have to pay extra for fried rice which is a real plus in my book, and you get soba noodles. The peanut salad dressing was different, but very good! Can’t wait to come back!
