Residence Inn by Marriott

This place is gorgeous and the suites have everything, full kitchen. Nice complex, staff was pleasant, easy parking. Directly across the street from the convention center. The hot tub was humorously small though.

I actually am enjoying staying here. It’s not the best, but it’s not the worst. I enjoy the peace and quiet, and of course the free breakfast every morning. Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful. I am giving two stars at this point for two big reasons. First, this is a pet friendly place and they do have an area to take your dog out so that they can go to the bathroom. They provide waste bags, but unfortunately not everyone picks up after their pet. Unfortunately they do not have anyone from the staff either that goes out there daily to pick up. There is so much dog waste on that lawn that I can hardly have my dogs or myself walk on there. It’s pretty disgusting and should be maintained daily. Not to mention diseases and other things that could come from that… my dogs are vaccinated, but are other people’s dogs vaccinated as well???

I began my stay on Nov 1 in a Studio King room and everything was fine. On Nov 3, my parents flew in from Canada and joined me and we switched to a Penthouse. The penthouse is on the 2^nd floor so there are two flights of stairs to get to the room. Since my parents were checking in while I was out, I called about an hour before they arrived and asked front desk to arrange for a bellman to help my parents with their luggage up the stairs (especially because my dad has a bad knee.) I came back to the hotel and my parents told me that nobody helped them. Frustrated, I called to ask them why no one assisted my parents and management was extremely apologetic. I was very confused as the front desk assured me that she would make the arrangement. As a result, the manager contacted me and comped us for one night, which I appreciated.
The penthouse itself was decent. Fully functional kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a living room. It would have been nice to have more space upstairs to put luggage, as it does get in the way around the bed. On one of the nights, there was a broken light by the staircase that was flickering all night we were barely able to sleep because of it. We did get maintenance to fix it the next day.
I will say that the staff did all they could to reprimand our concerns so I appreciated that. The complimentary breakfast and the mix & mingle every Mon-​Wed evening was also a nice addition. Great for busy mornings where we needed to grab a quick bite before heading out for the day.
Overall, it wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t amazing either. In the end, their customer service did improve our experience by the end of our stay.

We don’t normally stay at a low-​end place like this and this one-​night 5-​hour stay made me remember why. Bed is way too soft, EVERY neighbor was outside smoking (disgusting) and at 1:00 am the person above us is STILL stomping around like an elephant! To top it off, when we arrived to our room the AC was turned off and it was almost 80 in our room (at midnight).
On the plus side, the woman at the front desk was SO nice and gave us complimentary snacks from The Market for our early morning flight. If it hadn’t have been for her I wouldn’t have even given one star.
I know this place is «nice» to some folks but we’re used to more upscale and sophisticated accommodate. Too bad there aren’t any near the Ontario airport.

Me and my friends stayed here on a visit to socal. (We’re from norcal) The rate’s were great. The room was better than I thought. It had a nice bed, big bathrooms, and the kitchen was great. The room definitely made me feel like we got our money’s worth.
HOWEVER. if you plan on having any fun in your hotel room, little music, have a few friends over, this is NOT the place you want to go. They make you sign a waiver stating that if you «party» and eventually get kicked out, you’ll be charged 500 dollars! Being kicked out if bad enough, but you’re going to charge 500? That doesn’t make sense.
I had a few friends over, and we had the music on with the little alarm clock/​radio they have in the room. Even on high, it’s not that loud. We were giving a warning, so we turned it down. But our neighbors, decided that we were too loud so we were vacated from our room. The lady told me if we were to leave before the cops arrive, (why would the cops needs to come?) I wouldn’t be charged. So we left instantly. Next thing you know, I was still charged. When I called and explained the situation, one of the managers said I signed the paper so there’s nothing she can do about it. Great integrity Residence Inn.
I will NOT be coming back here, one bad experience is all it takes for you to find somewhere else, especially for hotels. There are plenty along this street.

We were stranded and all the hotels were full. And this hotel waited for us to come and pay for our room they didn’t even ask for a credit card to hold the room they just trusted that I would be there in 15 minutes and I was of course we were in a very rough predicament with nowhere to go and I was just so grateful that they have that room available i would have been out on the streets well in our car but still that is no place A mother wants to have a child

Residence inn has provided us with an easy stay for taking the California bar. The staff working the front desk is very friendly and professional. The breakfast is OK and sometimes they have events at night with desserts or beer but I missed out on those. The room was very clean and the bed was acceptable but the couch and chair in the living room were not comfortable. WiFi worked well enough for me to stream some Netflix, but they don’t have any movies on demand or a DVD player so the flat screens went mostly unused by me. The kitchen was great. The walk to the convention center is the closest by far.

It’s the only place they had eggs done another way besides scrambled. But it is a maze from my room to the main building. One of the better Residences.

Stayed here for two nights recently and had a great experience from the moment I arrived until I departed. The staff at the front desk is extremely friendly and their customer service skills are well polished. The apartment type rooms are extremely spacious and my room was immaculate if I have any negative comment its in regards to the thin walls I had a heavy footed neighbor above me but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t tolerate but I could hear them walking around at times.
It was very nice having a lot of sitting options with bar stools at the kitchen bar and a comfortable sofa and chair in the living area, the king bed was comfortable and was made up with quality bedding sheets and comforter.
They do offer a nice breakfast upstairs off the lobby in the mornings and a happy hour in the evening with complimentary wine, beer and snacks the one day I attended they had grilled hot dogs and some sides. Check out was painless and the parking was adequate and well lit. The parking areas also are gated and feel secure. I definitely would return to this location.

Changing my review because they checked us out after they knew we were expecting a check from our insurance, after us giving you so much money this month. Should be ashamed!

If you are staying for business or just need constant reliable internet, be wary of this hotel. First of all, the WiFi here is extremely slow and even at a premium it’s very expensive and choppy. Secondly, just like the Marriott in Nashville, I suspect these guys use cellular jammers to prevent you from using your own cellular data. While it doesn’t completely block internet, all cellular data in and out is painfully slow. I’m with T-​Mobile and I have full bars. Makes sense that they would place jammers so you can pay for their internet. I’m just waiting until the FCC catches this place too and forces the jammers down.

Great hotel! We were in town for the weekend for a convention. The location was nice since we were able to walk across the street. Nice and clean. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The kitchen in the room was fully equipped. The pool and hot tub were great, there were gad bbq l throughout the hotel. It had more of an apartment setting than a hotel.
Would have been a 5 star review. The only downside was the breakfast. My daughter in law and I had no problems, thought it was good, especially for a free breakfast. We went early though. Bu the time my husband and two boys got up there it was pritty ransacked. Not much food left. And kinda messy. They did go up about 15 min before it was over, but if it says it’s going til 10, it should go til 10. All in all I will definitely stay at a residence in very nice rooms!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. They’re like miniature apartments! There was so much room, we got the king suite and it was absolutely wonderful. The exterior of the place looks like a bunch of apartments but the interior is set up very nice. I was very comfortable. The beds were awesome! I slept well. I really liked that we couldn’t hear the neighbors, not could they hear us, because we had music playing and were a little on the louder side, so that was a relief. The pool didn’t look that appealing. The breakfast was good, they had a variety of things to choose from, so I enjoyed that. I had a lovely stay.

After almost four days of phone tag, I finally connected with the GM. Cindy was polite and receptive to the issues that had come up during our stay. I appreciated her persistence in trying to reach mii… (We’ve been quite busy announcing our engagement– so the phone tag was kinda crazy) Crazy and *very appreciated*.
They are taking steps to educate the maintenance staff to ensure they all know how to operate the new ADA compliant pool & Jacuzzi lift chairs… Hopefully, they will be upgraded to a Key-​Required for Pool-​Entry system. But as they have one of the latest & greatest in systems also recently updated, it will probably take some time before the next upgrade gets made.

They are also addressing a MORE IMPORTANT issue right now, the sprinklers overwatering and watering the sidewalks & driveways. The GM told mii she has an appointment with their landscapers to stop the water waste ASAP.
Luckily, the fall that led to my original complaint was a moderate fall. As I sit here on the fourth day of healing, most of my bruises are healed. My walk is almost completely back to normal. And after speaking with the Cindy, I feel like our relationship with the Marriott has healed too! Which is good… because D & mii have always liked Marriott’s…everywhere we go we look for a Marriott!
This week just keeps getting better and better!!!

Thanks to Lily, Andrew, Miriam and the rest of the staff for making my 2 month stay a good one. Had some internet issues for a couple of weeks during their internet upgrade but I was compensated with extra points and even taken care of with a nice room upgrade as well. This is a great place to stay if you’re traveling for business or going to the convention center for an event. Will definitely be back again.

I would give it NEGATIVE 10 stars if I could. It was like a scene from a comedic horror movie… the toilet sprayed a strong stream of water from the back of the tank to the wall with every flush, there was dirty shower water from the room above us that sprayed from our bathroom lighting fixture as if it were a 2^nd shower (see photos) at the same time dirty water leaked from the refrigerator. 11:00pm and NO management or maintenance on duty. Unlivable & inexcusable conditions. Horrifying experience. My family and I were completely disgusted. The poor girl at the front desk could only offer to move us 2 buildings down to a new room. Exactly what I didn’t need to be doing with 2 sleeping young children in the middle of the night. I find it hard to believe that these issues (ALL 3 of them) just so randomly or coincidentally happen to take place without any warning. Poor poor quality assurance checks. Makes you wonder what else is being overlooked at this establishment. Never again. Never EVER again.

I received an email this morning from Unilocal stating that they would be removing my photos that accompanied this review because they say and I quote
«We’re writing to let you know that we have removed two of your photos of Residence Inn by Marriott. Business photos and captions should be broadly representative of the business»
The photos are a VERY CLEAR and ACCURATE representation of the room that my family and I had. I am blown away and disheartened by Unilocal’s choice to remove them and I have to wonder just what motivated them to? If they go out of their way to say that «businesses cannot pay to have their reviews removed» then why the need remove my photos? Leave it up to us patrons to decide what we will base our choices on. It is Unilocal’s responsibility, because this is the type of organization they’ve made themselves to be, to give us honest forthright reviews (photos included), both good and bad… it is NOT Unilocal’s responsibility to decide what we should and shouldn’t see/​read. There was nothing malicious about the photos I posted. They showed the main light fixture in the bathroom with water shooting out of it (like a shower head would) and the other one showed the refrigerator with water leaking from it causing a puddle if water in the kitchen-That’s it. If I were perusing Unilocal trying to consider which hotel to stay in, I would definitely want to see as many different photos of the establishment I may be choosing to stay in so that I could draw MY OWN conclusion.
In light of this, I now understand why some of the places I’ve been to weren’t indicative of what I saw on their reviews. Perhaps reviews/​photos that weren’t up to Unilocal’s standards were also removed. Obviously it is possible and it does happen as it did in my review.

BAR EXAM TAKERS– STAY HERE! Amazing hotel for the bar exam. Not only is it right across the street from one of the convention centers entrances, the customer service is great. If you call ahead the day of your check-​in they will let you know what time to get there to «wait» for early check-​in. Early checkin is not guaranteed but for the handful of us that showed up early and patiently waited we got into our rooms 2 – 3 hrs early. Also, the thing that won me over is the set-​up of the rooms. You get a stove, microwave, FULL fridge and a kitchen area with a dishwasher, sink and pots/​pans, coffee pot. PLUS a couch and living area. It was a great size and I liked that I could study on the desk or in the kitchen or on the couch (coffee table) just nice to have options. I even noticed that in your room they have a grocery list –in case you forgot something, for a small fee they will restock your fridge!!! Omgee.
It was very quiet since everyone at the hotel is also taking the bar. I appreciated that they even called each day to check to see if everything was ok. Upon check-​in you even get a ziplock baggie and pencils. They also provide food each night!!! I personally recommend just packing all your food ahead of time and using the fridge. I literally cooked all my food ahead of time and had every meal ready to go in the fridge. During the exam lunch break it helps to just have food ready to pop in the microwave so you can just use that 1 hour to relax and study. You can also ask them to not have maid service come so you don’t have to worry about the cleaning interfering w/​your study break. They also offer breakfast and wake-​up calls. Lastly, the gardeners/​Maintenance people are even nice, one guy even offered to help me lug up my stuff to the upper floor when he saw my car was full of books and study aids! he got his dolly and save me multiple trips– NOW that is customer service, especially when you are so dang stressed the frack out.
The only downfalls honestly, are 1) that the internet is slow, fast enough to upload your answers but not for video streaming, and 2) that the check out time is essentially the same time as when you are getting out of the morning session day 3 so you either have to run and pack up your car, or pay for another night, or do what I did and have a family member drive out to pack up your room. I wish they would offer an option where you pay a small fee and extend check out till like 5:30pm when the exam ends to lessen the stress. Either way this hotel is amazing and because word is getting out about how great it is, it books up EARLY so if you are taking the bar next year, shoot book it NOW! I booked early like 5 months ahead and I got one of the last rooms for the ²⁄₂₀₁₄ exam. YEAH plan ahead, especially in July when the quantity of testers is nearly doubled — so worth it.

** Nice Alarm Clock
CD Player, annoying buzzer, and simple alarm setup. I like!
** Quick A/​C & Heating
AC/​Heating control is digital. It’s fast acting, and the central AC/​Heating cools/​heats the room in just a few minutes. I love to walk into and sleep in a cold room, but after a shower, I like it to be warm. I can turn the heat on as I walk into the shower, and 10 minuets later when I walk out, it’s comfortable! If I forgot to turn it back to A/​C when I leave, and I walk into a hot room after work, I’m a little aggravated, but I can turn the A/​C on and in just a few minutes, I feel good again! This seems like such a petty and first-​world-​problems kinda thing, but it’s important to me!
** It’s a Suite — DUH!
It’s got a full fridge/​freezer, microwave, sink, coffee maker, and all the dishes, cooking tools, and utensils you’ll probably need. Plus a breakfast counter, chairs, etc. It’s a Residence Inn, so, yeah, it’s going to have all those! Duh!
** Push Button Light Switches
Almost all the lights in the room are controlled by toggle buttons. They don’t have an on position and off position, you just hit it once and it turns on, and hit it again and it turns off. They’re mostly motion detecting too, but more for an energy saving purpose than a convenience. If you leave a light on the kitchen too long without walking around, it’s going to turn off.
** Outlets-​A-​Plenty
Always important in this day and age. An easy to reach outlet at the light fixtures on each side of the bed. Good! I have 2 cell phones to charge!
CONS
** Noisy Neighbors
You can hear everything that’s going on outside your room. The guy above me apparently liked to pace back and forth at 2AM everyday, because I heard the squeaks under his footsteps constantly. Even worse, I could hear the pounding of each and every footstep. ANNOYING!
** HORRIBLE Night Stand Placement
I posted pictures of this one! The path to the bathroom is half blocked by one nightstand/​dresser from the bed. It turns a 3 ft. wide path into a 1.5 ft path. Sure that’s plenty during the day when you’re watching where you’re going. But what about when it’s pitch black at 2AM and you’re half asleep but gotta pee? Wait until that dense and solid and sharp nightstand dents your shin or splits your toenail! Now try to tell me it’s first-​world-​problems! It’s first-​world-​emergencies!
** Couch Seems Like An Afterthought
The right edge of the couch meets the left edge of the TV, so if you could only stare straight, you’d be looking at the wall. The front edge of the TV is 3 ft. from the front edge of the couch. Hardly «optimal viewing distance!» Simple solution may seem to move it, but because of the layout of the room, you can’t really move it in either direction without encroaching the walking path for something else. Did they not design this room with a couch there?
** When Sprinklers Are On — Take Cover!
You can’t walk the path at night when the sprinklers are on without getting wet. VERY annoying when you’re checking in late at night and are carrying bags to your room.
OTHER COMMENTS
The buildings are set up like a very tightly compacted apartment complex. Seems great if you’re travelling with a few families and get rooms near each other. There’re common areas outside to lounge and relax (hey, it’s SoCal!) and even grilling areas. Even though it’s near a convention center, and it’s all business outside of the property, since I was in an inner building, when I left, it felt like this was actually my place of residence. It really had a residential feel to it… and this is the first time I’ve felt that way at a Residence Inn, or any hotel for that matter!

Service was great and free breakfast + dinner is always fantastic. Even if you don’t take advantage of the free dinner, it’s nice to know that if you’re hungry there’s complimentary food in the main office. The monthly dinner schedule is on the refrigerator in the room.
I stayed in a 2 bedroom/​loft. Overall, it was clean, fully equipped, and comfy. The sheets smell like bleach, which is good and bad. Good because you know they’re sufficiently clean and bad if you have sensitivity to chemicals. I was a bit disappointed with the hot water in the shower, but maintenance fixed that problem. I was mostly impressed with the service and sheer friendliness of the staff. Upon check-​in, my friend and I were warmly greeted. The check in process was prompt. They even gave us a ziplock back and two number 2 pencils AND a nice photocopied note wishing us good luck on the CA bar exam! WOW, now that’s what you call amazing and directed service. Way better than any other place in the vicinity if you’re there taking the CA bar exam at the Ontario Convention Center.
Housekeeping was pretty awesome also because they left extra conditioner the next day when we asked for extra at the front desk. It was as if the front desk informed housekeeping to place more conditioner in our rooms. It was pretty impressive. They have good communication within the premises.
The pool area was a bit small, but it looked pretty cozy and pleasant. There’s a mini tennis court and a basketball hoop. The buildings are like a maze, but the signage is pretty good and parking was not a problem. It was a fantastic stay during a very stressful few days. They really take care of the CA bar exam takers! Lastly, I never had a problem with wifi, but when I was uploading my answers for the last day, the wifi was lagging, it could have been because everyone else was leeching off the wifi before celebrating.

This place is the best place to stay if you are going to the convention center. It’s right across the street from the convention center [you can see it from your room].
It’s a Residence Inn, so each room is a suite with a king bed or double beds, sofas, and full kitchen. A small desk is good for last minute studying, and the couch faces the balcony slider doors [no balcony though].
The KITCHEN is the best part about this place. There’s a FULL SIZE REFRIGERATOR, MICROWAVE, DISHWASHER, STOVE, AND OVEN!!! When you just need to be in your room studying and reviewing before the next day of exams, the kitchen is life saving. We went to the market and bought all the ingredients for spaghetti and made it at the hotel. They had pots and pans, silverware, plates and bowls too.
HAPPY HOUR FOOD
They also posted a schedule of «happy hour» food in the dining room. After the exam when you just need SOMETHING in your tummy, run over and grab a plate of meatballs, rice, fajitas or whatever is the meal of the day. They even supply you with to-​go boxes in case you want to eat in your room!
SERVICE
Checking in was a bit of a hassle as they couldn’t check in 100 people all arriving on the same day at once for the bar. However, to make up for the long turn over wait to clean the rooms and check in, they sent gift bags to apologize for the delay, and it was stuffed with corn nuts and other munchies. Very nice!
Some other peeps taking the bar stayed at the other hotels for about $ 20 – 30 cheaper, but for the biggest exam of your life, this was the most worthy investment. Highly recommend this hotel for BAR TAKERS!!!
