History

Established in 1989.

Ooltewah Nursery & Landscape Co., Inc. began under Wendell Whitener’s leadership in the spring of 1989. The first item acquired was white dogwood trees. Someone stopped to inquire, and we sold a dogwood tree the first day. Right then, we knew that this company had potential! The name Ooltewah Nursery & Landscape Co. was chosen because we want to be involved in our community as a good neighbor.

In January 1994, ONLC became a state-​licensed contractor for landscaping & irrigation, and in 2003 built an 11,000 sq. ft. retail showroom & office building. ONLC expanded again in 2011 with a new open-​air flower showcase utilizing natural lighting. The entire retail space was redesigned with our customers in mind. These changes were noticed nationally. Today’s Garden Center magazine named ONLC «Revolutionary 100 Garden Center» S.E. Regional winner for 2013 & again in 2014. We are flattered to be named the best garden center in the Southeast, and we plan to continue thinking outside the box.
