Chapman Auto Repair of Orange

Needed to drop my wife’s car off for some minor work and heard great things about this place. It did not disappoint. John, Bob and Wesley were all very friendly and made the experience very easy. They even offered to get me a rental car through Enterprise. Even though I already had a friend to pick me up, I appreciated the gesture. Would recommend these guys to anyone who needs work done. This is definitely my one and only auto shop. It’s hard to find a place to trust with your car these days and I feel like & I don’t get taken advantage of at this shop.
They are always so helpful and the mechanic Juan that worked on my car last did a great job. I was going on a drive from Orange County to Dallas and wanted to get my oil changed and everything else checked. They went over everything with me that was needed to be done and made me feel at ease for the drive.
They also include a free car wash! Who could beat that! Quality service for reasonable prices. They also have a check in offer to save you a little bit money!

What a great job. This place was clean. The quote was spot on and the service was quick. I would refer this to everyone not looking to pay through their teeth.

Awesome service — My car was having an issue starting sometimes so I brought it in. They ended up replacing the starter — I was in and out in less than 2 hours. They also washed it for me.

Had to get a smog check done on my Lexus. I showed up without an appointment and was done in about 20 min. The guys here had great customer service and I’ll definitely be a regular for my car maintenance. After my service, I was even handed a free car wash coupon! These guys are great!

Numerous auto body and repair shops have bolted and screwed my trunk and tailpipe for less work and more money. However Chapman auto does not just pounded your dents outbof your backside. They look youbin the eye and work the whole body under the hood, inside and exterior with care and honesty.
I truly can’t be more pleased with the work they have preformed, the timeliness and customer service provided these guys are great and if you haven’t had the pleasure go in and try it you will be pleased and like me you will keep coming back.
Professional, courteous, and respect are 3 adjectives that come to mind along with thousands of others in relation to a business that does it right and better than anyone else by far in their field !!

Came in yesterday morning to get a brake job done on a recommendation from my Dad for my Mazda 3, as he takes his Toyota Avalon there. I was greeted personally by the owner, John. He was very kind and personable. His staff was able to get the brake job done quickly yesterday afternoon and I no longer have any issues with the front brakes making any noise. Thank you so much for helping me out!

Excellent work! 5-​stars all the way. I have a good car, but it needed work. LOTS of work, as luck would have it. I brought the car in late on a Friday. By 5pm the next day, Saturday, my car was fixed up perfect… except for one thing. Turns out I needed something adjusted. I brought it back just before closing, and not long after, they took care of everything. I’m very happy with the service, and happier to know that there’s an honest group of mechanics in town.

I had another great visit at Chapman Auto Repair last week. It was so awesome I thought I should write another review. They found a very hard to detect problem that was making my car run funny. I took it to the dealer and they couldn’t fix the problem. They tried to tell me that they fixed a problem but it wasn’t what i too the car in for. The guys at Chapman Auto Repair not only found the problem they even called me the next day to thank me and follow up. I am bumping my first review to 5 start

Chances are that you don’t have a whole lot of time to view options when you need a mechanic most. You’re stranded, car won’t start, and you need to get that thing up and running ASAP. Such was the situation with me and Chapman Auto Repair. However, for as unlucky as I was for my car to die just as I pulled up to a smog test (embarrassing it was), I was lucky enough to be towed to this shop.
What really makes a difference here is just how kind these guys are. They truly go out of their way to smile and treat you well no matter the situation. A little bit of kind service can go a long way and these guys understand that at their core.
However, like almost every other repair shop, they’ll try to upsell you on parts and repairs more than what is needed. Politely tell them that you need just the basics, or get a comparable quote from another mechanic, and they will get their price to where you need it to be.
As far as service, I cannot speak as to the longevity and quality of the repairs as it has not yet been a week since I drove out of their lot with my repaired car, but from initial impressions, things are running well! They also supply lifetime warranties on the services they provide which provides a definite peace of mind.
In summary, these are nice guys that are great to do business with. A little bit pricier than some other shops, but seems to be well worth it. 4.25÷5

I’ve experienced a number of auto repair shops through the years, but I felt so very safe and pampered by Chapman Auto Repair when the water pump in my Jeep recently broke. From the moment I drove in with the horrible sound coming from the engine compartment, not really sure just how I was going to get to work for a big meeting, I was taken care of with kindness and professionalism, given rides to and from work, and they even included a car rental so I could get around while they fixed my car. They have a big banner in their waiting room, about ethics and good will to their customers, and this business truly lives up to the highest standards of excellence.

These charges did not even include the rebuilt transmission. I took my VW Jetta to a foreign car auto shop for a different opinion. They found a different problem which was a leaking engine oil flume. Thank goodness I did not take my auto in for repair at Chapman Auto Care as their recommendation was wrong. I would be out over a thousand dollars and an incorrect repair which would not have properly repaired my vehicle.

John & Ken run a tight ship. The place is spotless, the staff are polite and friendly and the service is excellent.
If you want an oil change or a smog check and if you’re within 5 – 10 miles of the orange circle, this is the place to go !
I’ve been to several places (pepboys, jiffy lube and car dealers) and nobody gives the kind of service Chapman Auto Repair does. They’re nice guys and they put customer comfort above all else.

I was vacationing in Anaheim when my car broke down and my car was towed to Chapman. Right from the start I talked to Bob and he was so friendly & helpful. Bob was great about keeping me updated on the status of my car and offered a reference to help get my car to the junkyard. Bob made a difficult experience for me into an easier experience especially since I was out of town. I recommend Chapman to anyone who needs a great & helpful autoshop

Very nice and friendly place to go to get a star smog had issues in the beginning all I had to do was talk to someone face to face and all my problems were resolved best customer service I’ve had in a long time highly recommend this place for a smog

Was referred by a family member to come here for my oil change because they come here for all of theirs. So glad we did!
Me and my wife each brought our cars. Bob the GM helped us out and explained the process. Super polite and professional. They do an inspection, tire rotation and even give u a car wash every time u get ur oil changed, and at a good price. They offer referral discounts too! If u refer someone, u get 10% of whatever they spend put into your file with them to use towards services. So, the bigger the repair/​service, the bigger the dollar amount put into your file. You can get like $ 300 for a transmission.
Our vehicles were done faster than quoted which was great! John the owner came out to sit and chat with us while we waited. Very down to earth genuine people working here who go above and beyond to provide great service. Great experience!

The only reason I’m giving them two stars is because it was nice to have fancy drinks and water, most automotive places our run down. However, their proposed Christian values from the flag on the wall is to be taken into consideration. They found 4 huge problems with my car which would have cost thousands. I got a second opinion and all they needed was to tighten my belt and we all know I need new tires. Had I not had a second opinion that I trust I would have spend thousands that I don’t have. Glad I dodged that bullet. You pay for the fanciness here but the honesty is questionable.

I have come here one time for an oil change and I can honestly say these are the nicest bunch of guys. They dropped me off at my nail place and picked me up when I was done. My husband just had his car fixed and we are more than happy with the service. Highly recommend this place to anybody

Ok so I was sucked in by a $ 20 oil change coupon I got in the mail, I live relatively close to this shop so I said ok.
I had made a 3pm appointment for it, I got there they said it was going to take about two hours. Two hours for an oil change? Ugh I said fine but not really happy with that so they have this shuttle but the guy was out so I had to walk home from chapman and Batavia to lemon and Palm (not happy about this either, but did it anyways). Two hours had passed and they didn’t call so I called and they said my car was ready. They picked up my husband cause I couldn’t pick it up and when he got home with the car I noticed a bunch of oil hand prints on my car.
I mean if your going to work on a car and you know you have oily hands hmm maybe you should think to yourself «hey let me get a clean rag so I won’t get any gunky hand prints on the car» but no you didn’t think that cause you guys don’t care about anyone’s car.
So yea all of this added to that 1 star review

My first time ever seeing for in here. I required a star service center smog from dmv. Everyone here was pleasant, friendly and my smog was done fairly quickly. The price was very reasonable. I’ve paid more for a smog using a coupon… So i was pleasantly surprised. On my way out i was handed a voucher for a free car wash down the street. A $ 15 value… Very cool experience. Will definitely come back when i need something else checked out… But nobody is in a hurry for needing car service

This review is so late but I’ve serviced my car here ever since my Toyota Care plan ended. You really do pay for peace of mind and what is always my favorite part: free pickups and drop offs while they work on your car. Love it!
Last time I was there, I went to get my car serviced for an oil change but ended up getting a new battery as well. They told me they didn’t know how I was driving it but apparently there was major battery spillage.
I drove off after and stopped shortly after at the store down the street. I couldn’t restart my car and indeed my battery died. I called them back but they just closed. I wish I remembered his name but he literally drove with his wife to me and installed a new battery himself. He just charged my card and came over. It was truly amazing service.
I recently got a new car but when my Toyota Care plan ends, I’ll be back here again! You all rock!

I had taken my car here due to a family member’s recommendation and it was great ’til my gut told me to back the heck out of there, and I wish I had; life lesson learned, I suppose.
However, the staff is INCREDIBLY friendly, except one mechanic I had (I didn’t come into contact with the other mechanics) but other than that, they seemed very relatable & seemed to listen; which is nice for gaining that trust– you don’t want to deal with that usual sleazy salesman that seems to be everywhere you go now.
That’s where that trust started bursting at the seems. They started persisting on other unnecessary recommendations I had simply refused but they were, again, persistent!
Anyway, my bill was $ 2,000 for them «screwing a couple of lightbulbs & putting in a new radiator» (my license plate lamp was totally forgotten about though & doesn’t work now) & I got my car back with my rear passenger wheel leaning. Not how it went in.
So short story long: an extra star for the nice staff & zero for experience. Take pictures of your car before & after & be persistent on getting what you went in for; unless it’s something important.
Lastly, but greatly, take this bit of wisdom & remember to listen to your organs.

I talked to Ken over the phone, and he seemed really cool. He said I could drop my car off any time. So I did, and Bob took care of me at the desk. He estimated the time required at 1.5 hours, which was pretty long for an oil change, but I also wanted to get an estimate on some fender liners I wanted to have installed. I figured 90 minutes would be fine, if they are going to do that as well.
Ken was busy with another customer, and after she left, he said «Crazy Bitch» out loud, with me being the only customer in their front office. I suppose they didn’t think it would be a big deal for a customer to hear employees badmouthing people that give them money.
The shuttle driver, Wesley, took me home in their Hummer. It was an ok ride until he rolled down the window at an intersection and proceeded to cat call a woman crossing the street. Again, it’s fine on your own time, but be a little more professional in the presence of customers.
90 minutes was ample time to wait, as I had some work to do at home, but as time went by, I was getting more and more impatient. The time was up, and they did not call me. I decided to call after three hours (twice as long as originally intended). Bob answered the phone, and said my car was still on the lift, and he was waiting on the mechanic to give me a quote on the repairs I wanted to have done. He said he will call back in fifteen minutes.
Some time later, he called back with a long list of repairs totaling almost $ 800, and he said he could have my car done within the day. No thanks. After waiting three hours for an oil change and wasting half my day, I do not think I will be taking my car there again.
The oil change was done, so I asked if I could pick up my car. They said Wesley was nearby, so he will just text when he is close. I waited 30 minutes for Wesley. When I got in the Hummer, he asked how my day was. After explaining to him that I was disappointed because I just lost pretty much my entire day waiting for an oil change that could have taken 10 minutes at Valvoline. He apologized and asked for a second chance, then said «Oil changes just don’t take 15 minutes.» News flash — — they do.
I understand that because I was only paying $ 20 for an oil change, that I probably was not high on the priority list, but MY TIME IS IMPORTANT TOO. If a car will take longer to repair than originally expected, it’s probably a good idea to contact the customer and let them know, instead of having them call you 3 hours later.
When I got there, Bob apologized for the wait, and just gave me a free car wash coupon to the Chevron down the road. Thanks for nothing.
CLIFFS:
— They didn’t call me to let me know that my car would take longer, therefore wasting my day.
— Employees talking smack on customers.
— Cat calling shuttle driver.
— They try to sell you on a whole slew of things, in case you’re gullible.
— They forgot to reset my oil life light, which now reads 15%. Now I have to check if they really did change my oil or not.
Total time for an oil change and quote to have some plastics installed: FOUR HOURS
Save your time and money. Find a mechanic that runs his own shop, instead of having these clowns play with your time and money.

No doubt they were very nice to me, the work was good, and they had great facility for waiting, however…
All I wanted was an oil change, but then they started asking me a laundry list of questions if I got other services done on my car. I got persuaded and walked out paying more than I needed.
Not a bad mechanic per se, but go there firm and ready to get only the service (s) you need.

This places charged me for services they said I needed but did not really need. Tires were recommended but even the paper they gave me said they were still OK. They charged me for an electrical issue that they were wrong about.
During the time my car was getting fixed they offered me a rental care free of charge and told me I could return the car to them when I picked up my car. They waited to return the rental car to the rental dealership and I ended up getting charged for it.
Ill never go there for car problems

I have taken my vehicle to this place a few times now. My first couple of times, I had a great experience and loved the fact it was close to me job. Then, the «suggestions» for repair began to get out of hand.
The first time, it was suggested I needed a new air filter, which I had just changed it a month or so prior at a Jiffy Lube. I was quoted by Chapman Auto that this would cost me the price of the air filter plus $ 70 labor. I informed them that I just had this changed so they suggested I return it to the place where I had it changed. I did and I watched the tech from Jiffy Lube pull out the filter and examine it. This procedure is so incredibly easy that I will never pay someone to replace my air filter again. I could not believe Chapman Auto wanted to charge me $ 70 for labor.
I do believe in second chances. Recently, I took my vehicle for brake service. Which of course, I ended up paying double for what I intended to pay, but the suggested repair was legit, so I can’t blame them for that. But once again, I was given another bogus suggestion; it was suggested for the transmission fluid to be exchanged. They even sent me a picture of my «dirty» fluid. Three months prior, I had my transmission completely serviced by a dealership. I informed them of this, and again, they suggested I return it to the place where I had the service performed, which I did. The transmission fluid is not only NOT dirty, but the picture they sent me to prove that my transmission fluid was dirty was not even a picture of my fluid. Toyota uses purple transmission fluid. Chapman sent me a picture of pink fluid with a spot of fluid that was brownish.
Two strikes… you’re out!

I have been coming to Chapman Car Care for quite some time. Yes, it’s a little pricier. But I get a free car wash, a full inspection of the car, potentially a loaner, a shuttle ride, and good service. So I’m okay with that. Also, even when they have recommendations, they are just that: recommendations. They don’t force you to do anything that you didn’t originally ask for. Additionally, the warranties they offer for their parts and service are excellent.
So I’m willing to pay a bit extra for what I’m getting there. I’ve had incidents when I’ve been unhappy with the work I’ve gotten and it’s always fixed, free of charge. So I’ll keep going back.
