I was invited to 3 graduations here this summer. The people who invited me ALL have jobs lined up, fresh off the «walk», some overseas. This place is beautiful, modern and comes with very supportive staff. Downtown Orange is a hip happening place to hangout when not on campus, great restaurants and unique shops.
I’m taking graduate courses here currently but also one of my family members just graduated with a Master’s degree. The programs they offer are very nice. The bad: parking is limited even if you have a pass. We were late for one of the ceremonies and had to park way downtown and walk. You will get a ticket if you don’t have a pass and if lots are full your pass won’t help. So get here early. Don’t park on the street, you need a permit.
I don’t see much of a party life at this school and I’m impressed with that, too. There’s a diversity of students so I don’t know what the other reviewers are talking about. My friends here are all types. It’s expensive but all colleges are expensive these days.
Only complaint, the commencement speeches are so boring I went to the Dean afterward and asked if I could get three extra credits just for attending, lol! You can always do what I did and skip out, go shopping downtown and slip back into your seat, lol.

How can Chapman even consider themselves a higher education institute? LOL — What a joke and so is their lame hybrid Brandman! Counselors don’t seem to really care about their students and weren’t helpful. This school is down like a sad clown. Take your $$ elsewhere to study and get a valuable education.

The Resident Advisors in the dorms are pretty amazing.
Greek life is fun.
Parties, what is that?
Business and film school is huge and growing. (Hard to maintain good grades in business school) film school is #6 nationwide and business is in top #50
Great communications departments and for those who want a mix of that and business there is Strategic and Corporate Communications (SCC).
Kinesiology major is also very new and growing fast after Athletic Training (AT) major got moved to a graduate program.
People are so friendly and nice including the professors to the people who work on campus like in the cafeteria and jambs juice, WOW, and Einstein’s (Starbucks will be coming to campus btw).
Both men and women are beautiful everywhere.
Hen Bay pizza is a must.
Albertacos? YES it’s basically still in business because of chapman students.
Bruxie. Cause they’re amazing.
Library gets packed pretty fast so if you’re smart like me, go to the Law library and study there and pray that you don’t get kicked out for not being a law student (just look old and be studious).
Choose chapman because it changed my life. Thank you.

Beautiful Theatre for the screening of the Glen Campbell Documentary «I’ll Be Me» presented by Chapman University and free. The staff were all so wonderful friendly, the front desk kid was always busy on her phone hardly looked up when asking a question but she’s a kid she will learn. Overall a fantastic experience can’t wait to go back and check out their other screenings

I went to UCSB for undergrad but I live down the street from Chapman and it’s such a beautiful school. It’s in downtown orange, it feels like a small town but in a city, if that makes any sense. It’s beautiful and it’s 10 minutes from Disneyland and about 15 minutes from the beach. I love walking my dogs on campus, they love the small hills and the Berlin Wall display. It’s amazing that a piece of the Berlin Wall is displayed here, worth the walk to take a picture.

I love the library here. Even though I don’t even go here, it’s really nice to go to a library that is opened later for you to study and get away from your bed and home! This place is very modern and clean. it’s close by to restaurants and free ways so thats a bonus.

Awesome facilities!

Spent my freshman year (2011 – 2012) here and transferred out. School is overwhelmingly white with a small Asian population. Many of the kids are OC natives or CA natives in general. Unbelievably expensive for a school that is not even in the top 200 schools in the US. In fact, it’s not even RANKED. The financial aid/​registar/​student services office are a mess and very unhelpful. I transferred to Santa Monica College (a community college) and was far happier and impressed with the services. Also, unless you have a car, you are stuck on campus far away from… well, everything.
Pros: Good teachers, small classes, clean, safe,
Cons: Boring (nothing to do off campus unless you have a car), horrible infrastructure, a bag of skittles has more diversity than this school. Unless you’re wealthy, you’ll probably end up with a ridiculous amount of debt after college (I’m talking $ 60,000-$ 80,000).

Matt’s graduation! Woo hoo… nice field! Came here to attend a graduation ceremony. I was pleased that there was plenty of parking, not only on campus parking, but also lots of parking on the street that was only 5 minute walk to where I had to go. The field was set up nicely, and the chairs were situated so that you had plenty of room to get around or if you wanted to step up to take a picture of your favorite graduate! The campus is clean and the people working were nice and pleasant. It is a small but beautiful campus. All in all a great day!

How do I begin to explain my two-​year long experience at chapman…
My first year here was ok. The dorms are nice, the campus is beautiful and new, but the area surrounding the school is shady and can be kind of scary at night. The people are unwelcoming and superficial. I realize that’s a big generalization, but seriously, the majority of the students are white, wealthy and affiliated in greek life. If you arn’t in greek life, don’t expect to have any kind of a social life. It’s extremely cliquey. I’m not anti-​social or unfriendly, I usually make friends everywhere I go… but not chapman.
As for the academic aspect, I was a studio art major and journalism minor. The art classes are a joke. I tried to transfer into graphic design and Eric Burnes, the head of graphic design, told me I had to re-​apply to chapman and would be at Chapman for another four years (he told me this as a sophomore… six years of school? I don’t think so). He didn’t give me the time of day or even look at my portfolio. The academic advisors are flakey and completely unhelpful.
Some UG classes I took were really great, interesting classes with wonderful, caring professors. Although, for the ridiculous amount of money, it still doesn’t seem worth it. The school calls my parents house weekly asking for donations. DONATIONS?! I pay $ 40,000 to go to school here and they want MORE MONEY??? Ridiculous. Not to mention almost every class is waitlisted and during winter/​summer session, there are never enough classes. Especially in winter session, there are very few classes to chose from and even less that you can actually get into.
Let me say, Chapman could be a great school for a lot of people — they have a wonderful film and business program. If you want to be in greek life, you will love it here. Please visit the school before you go here — it is very expensive to pick a school you dislike. I know a lot of friends who have dropped out because they can’t afford it or because it was the wrong choice for them.

This is a review for chapman from 09 to 11.
I went here looking for a close knit community and small classrooms.
Pros: beautiful campus, very safe, teachers who will learn your name.
Cons: difficult to feel like you’re a part of campus without being part of greek life, very typically OC, a lot of pretentious rude students
My personal experience was this:
–People you meet one day will completely disregard you the next day. People don’t hold doors open or say hi to you. It feels like high school again where you have to be blonde and pretty or bro-​ey to fit in or be acknowledged.
–Student activity life is lacking and many people including myself transfer out to bigger schools
–Diversity is LACKING (2009 – 2011), got comments like «Why are there so many asian people here» and students who would say «Sorry I can’t hang out with so many asian people»
–Pretty hard to meet people, cliques form early on.
Academics:
–As a Biology, Pre-​med student, I really really appreciated the ‘smaller’ classes (gen bio and gen chem around 50 – 60 students?) and the fact that you could easily approach your teachers and they’re more likely to get to know you
–Staff is very friendly and very willing to help BUT there’s a lot of lacking resources like research projects, pre-​med opportunities, shadowing, proactive student organizations.
Campus:
–Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Very modern feel and it’s so CLEAN because they wash it so often.
–Small and easy to walk from one end to the other, dorms are super close and convenient
–Dorms are NICE. They are nice nice nice and large and many freshman dorms have their own bathroom. Not as cohesive and social floors (most doors are required to be kept close) but they’re definitely bigger and nicer than the UC dorms.
For the price you pay, you’re better off going to a university with a friendlier, more mature, and well rounded student body with more distinguished staff and faculty with bountiful amounts of opportunities to get involved in academic and social ways. (I transferred to USC)
But that’s just my experience there.

One star for location, but none for academics & sports. Chapman does not appear to be competitive enough when it comes to academics & sports, due to the lack of programs (Science: Organic Chem, Physiology & Anthro: One of the CORE subjects in Social Sciences) in both areas (Lower tiers as well). However, Chapman did in fact spread news about overtaking USC, UCLA, & NYU’s film schools, since Chapman is known for film & animation, but we all know how that turned out in 2012, where USC took #1 in the top 25 film schools, whereas Chapman placed #13.
Now, many people say that Chapman has a powerful film school, but so does USC. So people argue that Chapman is FAR cheaper in tuition, so they would rather much choose Chapman over USC. But here’s the cost:
Chapman: $ 42,084 tuition and fees; Acceptance: 44.9%; Student-​Faculty Ratio: 14:1 (2012 – 2013)
USC: $ 44,463 tuition and fees; Acceptance: 23.0%; Student-​Faculty Ratio: 9:1 (2012 – 2013)
Neither is cheap, but take a look at the acceptance rate & the student-​faculty ratio, that is where it matters. That alone shows that SC means business. If you look at Best Colleges website, you will obtain more information/​stats between the two schools. And don’t confuse yourself with regional ranking & NATIONAL ranking. Chapman ranks at #6 in regional (the West), USC ranks at #24 on a NATIONAL (entire North America) level (tied with UCLA), whereas Chapman is unranked (or maybe ranked somewhere in the 100s or further, I didn’t look that far).
Now, for my thoughts, if I wanted to do film/​productions etc., I would most likely choose a top film school (USC), but also the location (Hollywood, networking, no brainer). Chapman is located in Orange… Now, don’t get me wrong, Orange has a pretty scenery, especially the Chapman campus, but it’s not Hollywood, & difficult to reach out to any film industry (assuming). Just a food for thought.
People say that reputation doesn’t matter, but it really does matter in fact. People, namely employers, will want to know what school you came out from. Now, if you weigh in Chapman, USC, UCLA, NYU, most people may not know what Chapman is. I myself didn’t know what Chapman was until 2010. USC & NYU for example, shows notable alumnus (actors/directors=A lot of them), & believe it or not, the famous ones donate a lot of money to these schools, namely George Lucus (USC alumni).
With that said, choose your university carefully, the two I emphasized the most cost almost the same, but only one can provide a world class education, along with a STRONG network. If I said that the two were the same at everything, then the ranks wouldn’t matter.

Invited to an Opera Recital performed by Chapman students. Venue was smallish, although very intimate and appropriate for the evening.
Students were very impressive with their performances, and there were a few stellar performers.
The venue was within Bertea Hall. The building houses the Salmon Recital Hall and Shanley Choral Room. I think we were in the Recital Hall, which had excellent acoustics.
This is certainly one way of enjoying and supporting the Arts. Some theater tickets are getting extremely pricey.
The musical choices were popular arias and duets, so these were both accesible enjoyable.

I’m a law student, so my knowledge of the undergrad campus is probably somewhat limited. Anyway, here goes nothing.
The law school. We’ve all heard the horror stories about the workload, professors, competition, etc. I’m currently in my second year and truly have enjoyed my experience thus far. The professors are engaging, passionate, and nothing like Professor Kingsfield in «The Paper Chase». My fellow classmates, for the most part, are sociable and down to earth. The workload has been challenging, but definitely manageable with some proper time management.
The campus. Coming from UCI, I was surprised to find out how small Chapman actually is. But that’s totally alright! Easier to get around. The campus is beautiful and very well-​kept. You’ll be hard pressed to find trash on the ground. The buildings are new and Memorial Hall even looks like the White House.
The gym. I guess it’s proportionate to the campus sized? It’s a bit small in my opinion, but has most the machines/​weights that one would need for an efficient workout. It never really gets crowded, so that’s definitely a positive. My only complaints are the weird hours of operation and the «shirts must have sleeves» policy.
The food. Pretty decent. There’s a coffee/​sandwich shop next to the business school. There’s a a Jamba Juice, bagel shop, and other places to grab a bite in the student center. The food isn’t gourmet and is a bit overpriced, but nothing too unreasonable.
Parking. Awful this year! There’s some construction going on, so finding a parking spot is a rarity. I really want my $ 300 back.

Education grad ceremony walk at 430pm, get here at 2p or 230pm to get seats you want. Free commencement, free chapman white hats. Reception is after with lemonade, water, fried empanadas, cookies, brownies and quiches.
Each grad walking down the isle will be seen on a bigger screen tv, take a picture of them off that.
Plenty of parking around. And great information people standing by every parking lot exist.

Two different things:
Free WiFi and nice libraries.
Counseling services.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve used their counseling services on Palm St. Things happen, people die, I get depressed and need help putting my brain back in order like a Rubick’s Cube, which, by the way, I can’t solve. That’s for those kids in the math department.
Anyway, the psychology students who are almost done with their program have a sliding-​scale service. I recommended it to a friend, and she didn’t care for the person she was working with, but I think the person I work with is great. It really helps to go through the grieving process without the AA-​religious-​style grief counseling that most groups use. $ 10 — 60/​session depending on income.

Beaaaaautiful campus! I love showing off my school to my friends and family ;)
My favorite place on campus is the Attallah Piazza. It’s a great spot to hang out with friends and enjoy the nice California weather. The fountain lights up into different colors at night, which I love love love! Really pretty!
The wi-​fi is great anywhere on campus, or at least where I usually am. Food here is overpriced so definitely bring your own food, or enjoy the cafes and restaurants around campus.
The professors here are really nice and helpful. Since class sizes are usually no bigger than 30 people, our professors know us by name, which is not common in state schools.
All in all, I love Chapman! :D

Clean, clean campus, but definitely smaller in size compared to say, a UC campus.
From what I’ve seen, a lot of big tables in lecture halls (which is a plus)!!
Most likely because it’s a smaller campus, but a tightknit community feel.

My only complaint? Limited database access compared to a larger institution.
