Great food and service. Everything tastes freshly made. A little pricey but that is to be expected this close to Disneyland. Our family of five are well and were satisfied. Love the old pics of SoCal theme parks.

This is a great place to grab some traditional food without breaking the bank. I have been coming here for years(16 years) My favorite throughout the years is still the Katella grill cheeseburger. They use good quality meat and and ingredients. The Burger is a great price and it’s pretty big. Also I love the season fries, super yummy. My husband is picky and he loves eating here. The corn beef hash is his favorite. Fresh ingredients and great flavors. This place is a must try place. Oh and I can’t forget the banana split. If you are looking for a desert it’s a must try.

Afternoon breakfast On a Sunday. Lobby was busy so we grabbed two seats at the counter. Service was great, thank you Jessica. I loved, loved the Hawaiian French Toast. Ernie had a skillet breakfast, looked good(if you can see through his catchup and tobasco). It was interesting to watch the activity behind the counter. The staff works like a team. And the 3 cooks were working their butts off! Family style coffee shop. I give it a 5

An OC staple, having been there over 40 years, this is a must try whenever you’re in the area! Total diner atmosphere, the menu has a little bit of everything! They also have brown gravy which is a rare find on the west coast! We ended up here by chance on St. Patrick’s Day because Lazy Dog had over an hour and 15 minute wait. We waited here no longer than 10 minutes and we seated in a super comfy half moon booth in front of the bar area. The restaurant was decked out in holiday attire and was super cute. The place is huge on the inside so it’s a healthy size to accommodate big parties. Our server Elliot was fantastic since he helped guide us on what to drink and eat as first timers there. All of our food came out exactly as we asked for it and the taste was totally on point for everyone! They only have beer and wine, but they have a decent selection including red ales which is not common and my fiancé loves the Reds. We were too full to try dessert but next time for sure! Also, I couldn’t get a pic for obvious reasons but as I was washing my hands in the restroom, the sign on the door cracked me up! It says«this may not be the best time, but did you know we cater?» Or something along those lines but I just thought that was hilarious and then I also learned they catered! Great marketing! We really can’t wait to come back and try more menu items, especially breakfast.

My boyfriend and I came here one afternoon after visiting the nearby car dealership. At first, I was skeptical, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The décor is dated. There’s no way around this. It feels like you’re stepping back in time 40 years. Despite that, everything is clean. The bathrooms were impeccable, and employees were washing the bar top while we were there. The service was friendly and helpful. The manager also came to our booth with personal recommendations. We ordered chicken fried steak and hash browns, a chicken sandwich, and tried a sample of the nitro coffee. Our server offered us two samples of the coffee, one with vanilla added, and one without. It was quite delicious with the added flavor. She also noted that my chicken sandwich no longer has pepper jack, but ghost pepper cheese. So, the menu(also old) was outdated. The food was flavorful, not overly greasy, and delicious. My boyfriend remarked that his hash was perfectly cooked. I was surprised at the quality and flavor of the chicken cutlet in my sandwich(ghost pepper cheese wasn’t too hot). We cleaned out plates. The water on tap tasted off, but I don’t like the flavor of California water. We were also offered a rewards card, but we weren’t pushed for one. I felt no pressure at the offer. Also, the place looked vacant. It’s just really big inside. We were seated at booths, and there was a whole dining section, which was full of customers, which we could have easily missed due to the layout of the diner.

Our dinner at Katella Grill started out very nice. Seated promptly and our waiter, Ryan, was quite on the spot to greet us and take our order. Per his suggestion, we ordered the beef ribs. The ribs were AWESOME! Huge and soooo wonderfully messy and yummy. I’m thinking 5 stars! But things went down hill quickly. Ryan never came back! No napkins. No drink refills. No cornbread that he promised. We eventually flagged a busboy to get what we needed… GREATDINNER. — HORRIBLESERVICE = 3 stars

The food here is mediocre at best. I’ve been here several times their breakfast us boring and unoriginal, sometimes it comes very heavily greased and oily, they don’t always give you real eggs, they sometimes. give you those liquid eggs when you order scrambled. Their peach cobbler is gross, the peach comes from a can, not fresh at all. Their french toast is greasy. Their«bbq» is dry and tasteless. Their turkey dinner is gross, it’s dry, tasteless, and smells bad. The only great thing is the service and that’s the only reason I gave them sooo many chances to redeem themselves with food. The only thing I can say was great was the fried chicken and waffle.

I’ve always passed by this place but never really lived close enough and/or had time to stop in for a meal. But today, I actually had time — actually, plenty of time, because I had to have my car repaired at the Ford dealer across the way. After being sent on my way for a few hours, I walked over in the SoCal cold to this place, since it was the only place nearby that looked open. And now I’m here wishing my meal never ended! Got two eggs over medium, hash browns, and a small stack of pancakes, plus vanilla coffee. Everything was awesome, especially the pancakes. They must make them with crack. I would have gone for another stack but I was too full. And the coffee was great and flavorful — something that places that rhyme with fly cop and menny’s should work on… Customer service and prices were also good. Not sure how lunch and dinner are, but I whole-heartedly recommend this place for breakfast! Mmmmmm.

I’m keeping this short. Since I don’t like writing updates unless something drastically changed, mainly for the worse LOL. It’s been soooooo long since the Fam and I had a meal here and we did one evening finally. I looked at the menu and I was kind of teased by the breakfast all day because during dinner hours, it’s just a few dishes you can get for breakie, not the full monty. My disappointed ended real quick when I saw they had BBQ but I also was skeptical as hell about a place that looks like Norms serving bbq LOL. Well I must say, it was gooooooood. I’m not sure if it’s seasonal but Oh my it was tasty and moist! I ordered the beef ribs with a side of creamed corn, mashed potatoes topped with gravy and my sister ordered their bacon mac and cheese. I was pleasantly surprised and ever since then I’ve been dreaming of those thick and meaty beef ribs. Just wanted to let you lovely folks of Unilocal that my meal was that good, I had to write an update: p

Actually a 3.5, but they excelled on service. We had no wait. A light Thursday evening. Gave it a try with my family of 3 for dinner 10⁄22. Traditional diner food. More like a Norm’s but not a chain. We had great service from Piper. She helped us try a sampling the menu. Had the smoked tri-tip with Mac/Cheese vegie and a New York steak with mashed potatos and Awesome Onion rings. In general, the food was prepare correctly and tasted good. I’m not sure the steak quality is up to the $ 22 price tag, but even Outback has had quality problems. Give it try!

My daughter has gymnastics right by Katella grill and we always pass by, so we finally gave it a try. I must say it’s quite delicious and we find ourselves going there now at least once a week after gymnastics. Service is very quick and we are always seated right away. Manager is super friendly and stops by each table to make sure everything is good. Very friendly servers as well. I highly recommend the sweet potato fries with honey or the potato skins as a starter. Possibly the best potato skins I have come across. My favorite meal there is the chicken and waffles. Which is a meal I never usually would get. Although their fried chicken is the best I’ve tasted. Salads are good size and very tasty as well. Very clean restaurant, the bussers make sure to clean tables right away and the bathrooms are always nice as well. Wether you’re going to see an Angels/ducks game or just looking for that home cooking taste. I highly recommend trying Katella grill out. I know my family is glad we did.

So we were in Orange County area and we decided to eat breakfast here. Okay let me start with the wait, we had a party of 4 and you can clearly see that there were seating areas in the back portion of the restaurant and there were 2 people ahead of us that the hostess can seat. We had to wait 15 min. For them to realize that we can be seated. Next, the restaurant itself looked like a 90’s diner nightmare, the colors were sort of retro roller skates neon rave feeling and the furniture didn’t look like a homey feel but some thing that you would donate to goodwill. I ordered the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs and my friend ordered pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. The eggs were so runny that it was not even barely cooked all the way through, the meat tasted microwaveable and my friends scrambled eggs was also runny as well. I can cook a better breakfast than this honestly. Our companion had the Texas chili skillet and I felt so bad because he only ate it a quarter through until he realized it was super bland with no flavor or spice added at all. The only good thing about this place is the waitress she gave good customer service and was attentive to our needs. She even offered an alternative to our companion with the skillet if he wanted a side of bacon or something so that was awesome. I wouldn’t recommend breakfast here. Not coming back for sure…

It feels like time just stopped at this place and noone ever remodeled since the 70s. Walking in the lady at the counter was super nice and very helpful. They maintained the cleanliness of the very old environment. The food was good, not over the top but decent diner type line up, It looks like they have many regulars, I saw one waiter that was very playful with a few of the older couples. They had decent specials and over all the prices are fair. Bathroom also stuck in the 70s. Probably not a place I will go back to, I was attending a meeting and needed to be quick. No specific complaint just that stuck in time feeling.

Why haven’t I been going to this on a regular basis is beyond me! Well, OK, I don’t live super close to it, that’s why. Seriously though, I checked this place out several years ago when I would take my car in for service at the Nissan Dealer down the street. Instead of sitting in their dinky waiting room, I would walk here to grab a bite to eat. I honestly don’t remember that much, but it obviously didn’t suck. I was probably more focused on how much my car was going to cost me to repair. Fast forward to last night… GROUPONSIGHTING! I love Groupons. $ 12 for $ 20 worth of food? DONE! And again, seriously, it was REALLYGOOD! I had the prime rib sandwich, medium well, and well. yum! The cheese bread was a little chewy though. Like it was microwaved tough chewy, but I still ate it. My partner had the beefsteak but really liked the sweet potato fries. He said there was some kind of honey glaze on it. I don’t like sweet potato’s so I didn’t give it a taste. Service was great, food was good, price was alright(even without the Groupon I would have been OK paying for it), and the place is clean. I think we found a regular sit down family style restaurant to frenquent most often.

I think this place is «A-OK» and that isn’t a bad thing. Both times that we have been here now are due to Groupon deals. It would probably compare to a Keno’s somewhat in regards to the food and the generation that comes in. We do not fit in with the generation that frequently stops here, but once in a while you will see one. Food is okay. I honestly do not remember what I had the first time here, but I remember thinking that it was alright. This last visit I had the chicken caesar wrap and again thought it was alright. I was eyeballing the bbq chicken or pork plate that came with cornbread and two sides. My appetite was not that big this time so I passed. I would definitely get it on another visit though. Food is mediocre so far, but the service has always been really friendly on my experiences. I was scoping through pictures and found quite a few things that looked tasty so I would definitely come back to try some of those. Hopefully I will find that awesome dish. Atmosphere is fairly nice. Your regular coffee shop restaurant type look, but it’s fairly quiet inside and comfortable in my opinion as well as clean. Pricing is about average, maybe a bit cheaper on items such as broiled steak, and the bbq plates. I will definitely be back to try other items sometime.

I was in town looking for a pastery shop to bring some goodies to a friend. I found Katella Family Grill! I love the looks of this place, as it looks like it’s been around for a long time and it had a lot of character! I was looking for pasteries, donuts, and fancy desserts to purchase. Instead, I found home-made pies and cakes! YUM! I ended up purchasing a whole apple pie. When I placed my order, the nice server Ashley told me that there were freshly baked whole pies in the back and she went to get me one! SCORE! Out I walked with a freshly baked apple pie for $ 12.99. My friend was super happy! So was I! Food Grade: A– Service Grade: A– Worth the Money Grade: B+/A– Overall Impression: B+/A– I’ll be back!
