Libretti’s Restaurant

One of my favorite Italian restaurants, ever. Food is excellent, portions are big — my favorites are the Chicken Valentino (SO good!) and the Chicken Arrabiata. The appetizers & pasta dishes are also delicious. If you also like entertainment they have karaōke nights! If not, there are nights you can go when there is no karaōke going on.

What’s going on? This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. Unfortunately something has changed. We came in to eat one early Tuesday evening. Restaurant seemed pretty empty. We were taken to our table and a few moments later our server came. She started us off with our drinks. Later, she took our order and left. When our app came I was very excited because I thought I would be tasting a very delicious food that I love to eat here. Wrong. She got it wrong. We asked for HOT and it was NOT. I just shrugged it off and awaited our food. Everything took forever to come. We waited so long for our entrees. I had Salmon and it was amazing as always! The bread was hit and crispy. Drinks were well made. Unfortunately I felt like service was not. Too many inappropriate conversations going on. Server was drinking iced coffee from a table near ours. I could hear how they laughed and made jokes. While we spoke they chimed in on our private conversations. Felt weird. I will be back again and hopefully different servers are available. Management please monitor your servers. Monitor your kitchen. We waited for so long we were starving! Well… not literally.

Went here for my sister’s grad. school graduation dinner. The service was good & the staff was very friendly. They had a vast selection of both food & wine to choose from. After ordering appetizers, we were given a complimentary bruschetta. The meals were extremely delicious, but very big. If you go here, you don’t need to order appetizers since the dinner portions are so big. I recommend this restaurant if you are looking to eat Italian with family members.

I’ve been here a few times and the food was excellent to say the least. Staff is usually attentive and never an issue. So, I have colleagues in town and decided this would be a good place to host them.
After nearly an hour drive to get there (as I said, between the food and staff, it’s worth the drive), things slowly started to unravel. Initially we were the only people in the place. 2 of the 6 got water, the other glasses stayed upside down until we asked again for water which translated into the busboy dropping off a pitcher of water on the table and leaving.
Appetizers, a fried mozzarella and a cold antipasto salad, pasta fagioli and a seafood salad. Soup arrived, few minutes later the mozzarella arrived. Few more minutes the seafood salad, no cold antipasto.
Waiter shows up, asks how everything is going while placing the complimentary bruschetta on the table. I knowingly ask if that’s the cold antipasto to get him moving but to no avail.
We finish everything and are sitting there and the waiter walks back over to see if we want anything. My colleague asks about the antipasto and he says oh yeah, let me check. A few minutes later that arrives.
Shortly after that my entrée arrives, no one else’s. Then, a few minutes later two orders of fried calamari arrive on a tray, one for another table and apparently one for us. Complimentary? No, a possible mistake. A few more minutes two more meals. A few minutes more two more. All but one have been delivered. We wait and then decide to eat. The waiter shows up and asks if we are happy with our meals. We tell him we are still one short, calamari fra diavolo.
We start to eat and 5 minutes later the fried calamari shows up again. We explain that this isn’t what was ordered and he goes back to the kitchen. When the waiter comes back from the kitchen we tell him to cancel the order given we are halfway through our meals. He says that they began to start the cooking but he’ll let them know.
When all said and done, there’s nothing taken off our check for the mishap, and he says yeah, sorry for the confusion. $ 68 (without tip) later for a soup, seafood salad, a chicken dish and a martini and a missing main course.
The worst part of the whole situation is hosting out of town colleagues, building up this place and then having complete disorder throughout the meal, a total embarrassment on my part. Having the bus boy deliver my food with his thumb in my pasta wasn’t impressive either.
For the investment to commute there from Englewood and then having the service being so disorderly (food not arriving together, asking repeatedly for the appetizer, no basic water service, wrong meal delivered twice without one person actually eating their meal) there should have been some management intervention. This is why restaurants close.
Will be a hard sell to get me back to this restaurant in the future.

The shrimp scampi is delicious !!! The best !!! And all of there’s dishes are soooo good.

Food was delicious service on the other hand was not desirable. We were a larger party not sure if they saw that as an automatic gratuity so no actual service required. She forgot several drinks and brought out the quest of honors birthday cake while the dirty dinner plates were still on the table. We had to ask for silverware to eat the cake with and had to request coffee service and additional dessert service as well my first time at this reatuarant and am thinking it might be my last.

Took my wife on a date here. Arrived and heard nice music from the parking lot so we danced our way in. Rustic feel, good ambience, dark lighting, perfect for dates. Had a delicious Italian meal using our groupon and ate the zuppa di clams marinara, pasta fagioli soup, flounder francaise, and veal marsala! Service was great and food was banging! Would never have even known about this place, we’re definitely coming back! Thanks Groupon!

We went to Libretti’s with a Groupon. The atmosphere is lovely! My chicken Siena was delicious. The filet mignon was tasteless. Very disappointing. Probably better to stick with the Italian specialties.

Although food was good enough, the evening (90^th birthday party) was ruined at the end by a red-​headed waitress who insisted that they don’t put the tip on the charge card. But there was an included $ 80+ as a tip — more than 20% — for a $ 385 meal for 13 — which with tip and tax was $ 485.56, paid in full, divided up amongst 3 families.
The red head would not listen or even stop talking as I tried to tell her that the entire $ 485 was divided up unevenly amongst 3 siblings. Could not get word in. She just would not stop to listen to the reality. I had worked with another on the staff to pay the bill — without even fighting the outrageous tip. Wish I had taken the entire tip back.
Ended up stomping out, since 2 of the grandchildren had a train to NY and barely made it. I have never in my entire life yelled at a waitress. Ruined my night, my husband’s, my children’s and probably the others as well. Still don’t know or care if she was just trying to get more money from my sister-​in-​law or was just lacking in intelligence. But their business would be far better without her.

The food here was traditional and delicious. the ambiance was warm and inviting and PRIVATE at no time did I feel anyone would hear anything. the steak i had was the filet mignon and it was second to none. my daughter had the shrimps with marinara sauce and it was delicious really excellent. Prices were reasonable for a high quality Italian restaurant with class. this is not a pizza joint it is a formal restaurant and it was delicious. the portions were HUGE definately enough food for two people which the waitress said they knew and that is why on the menu its an additional five dollars if you split the entrée with another person. the entrée platters are plentiful and delicious.
. I brought my 9 year old daughter with me and was NOT expecting the dim lighting and the muted ambiance which was a romantic note to the restaurant and for couples or first going out couples. Not for Italian families Not a festive romantic atmosphere. Private and secluded and muted lighting. Ideal for couples. That being said, its for a couple not a noisy family. so perfect for a date night. The neighborhood looked spooky but nobody harmed my car when I came out with my daughter.

Great Food. Great Atmosphere. Karaōke was great. Nice place!

Well… I am giving 2 stars because i saw nice and RESPECTFUL PEOPLE THERE… However… i went there Specifically for KARAOKE night and never got the ONLY one song that i requested. I waited for 2 hours and I saw the bartender asked her clients what songs they wanted to sing and then would approach the Karaōke DJ to give them the songs that they wanted to sing. This went on and on and on… Needless to say I never got to sing my song. We asked for a Mojito and the bartender said she did not have any. However for 2 more hours and seating just in front of her at the bar we watched her making them… so sad that a place that could have so much potential for nice clientele and they treat new clients like We Have no business there.

Restaurant has a nice old-​fashion layout to it. Food was great ordered a lobster ravioli that was just absolutely delicious as well as the warm bread you get that i just had to eat with my ravioli. Waitress was polite and gave great service and made my stay worth while.

We recently went to Libretti’s for a family function. It was our first time and everything was great. We were early, so we sat in the bar/​lounge and enjoyed looking at all the old photographs on the walls.
The party was in a banquet room, elegantly decorated. There were plenty of appetizers going around. Dinner was sit-​down; most of us had the chicken Francese (complemented with potato & vegetable) which was delicious! The wait staff was attentive and we all had a good time.

Really 3.5 stars but I’ll round up — the restaurant has a nice, old-​fashioned ambiance inside, even though the neighborhood leaves much to be desired. That being said, I’ve gone to Libretti’s twice and never had a problem with leaving my car in the parking lot.
This is solid Italian food. From time to time I love myself a good BOGO deal for oily, buttery pasta at Maggiano’s, but once in awhile a girl just wants well-​seasoned, well-​cooked Italian cuisine prepared in a less ‘American’ way. Libretti’s a good option with its large menu option and reasonably priced wine. Their Chianti goes well with their sauce-​heavy entrees.
The price for entrees range from around 14 for pasta dishes and upwards of 36 for steak or seafood entrees, so it’s not a place I’d go to regularly — maybe when I want to treat myself (or in my case when I have a Groupon).

Great local restaurant in the «arts section» of Orange. Consistently good food and staff. Danny the owner and JoAnn the hostess are both warm and friendly.
The Livornese sauce is tremendous.

A refreshing throwback to the days of privately owned restaurants with an enthusiastic constant staff in a world of corporately run chain restaurants with transient help.
You first enter into a wonderful atmosphere, a low illuminated bar with appropriate back round music of Frank Sinatra, Tony bennett etc. The bartenders are pleasant, quick to take your drink order and pour generously.
Librettis has been known for Italian style cuisine and its been a hit for 50+ years. I recommend the chicken Libretti, chicken murphy or the owners special chicken Lazzara, Although everything on the menu is outstanding with large portions and very reasonably priced.
After dinner on Friday and Saturday nights go back into the bar/​lounge area and prepare to have the most fun you’ll every have in a restaurant. Pat is the Emcee in very professionally set karaōke bar. Everyone who wants to gets a chance to get up and sing and some of the regulars are just amazing !! The party goes way past midnight with great music, dancing and the most upbeat crowd of people since the last wedding or affair you have attended .
I strongly recommend to make this your next dinning experience but make reservations on the weekends cause this place gets busy ! You WILL be back for more !!!

Great food and great atmosphere. I recommend getting penne in vodka sauce with sautéed chicken and spinach. Absolute best… oh and the bread is delicious!

Don’t be alarmed by the neighborhood, this place is an institution and well worth it. The entrance opens to a bar where a true Jersey boy is singing karaōke with a roomful of what seemed like loyal patrons. The bar was adorned with lights and festive for the holidays. We made reservations, the last table in the place… It was a very busy night with multiple private parties.
Our waitress was very upbeat and friendly. We started with the chopped salad (a must) and the fried calamari. It was cooked perfectly and came with two marineras, one spicy, one not. Our appetizers came out almost immediately.
Our entrees unfortunately took about an hour… I wish the courses were better spaced out, but I chalk it up to a very busy night. I ordered the ziti, it was amazing! Very large portions and rich, but each bite was better than the last… Perfect blend of cheese, sauce, and vegetables. I can’t wait to go back to order it again.

Recently went to Libretti’s for the first time for a work holiday lunch. There was a special, limited menu due to the size of the group, but there was a chicken, veal, and seafood option. For a lunch, the portions were great and the meal included a salad, pasta course, and entrée. The bread brought to the table was fresh, warm, and a generous size.
The service was attentive and the pace was well-​timed. If I’m back in the area, I would definitely try Libretti’s again.
