Salvation Army Thrift Store

he Salvation Army sell crooked and overused mattresses, I stupidly got one from here and tried it there at the store, but I guess I thought it was better then the 20 $ mattress I had at home? OMG the mattress fell apart the springs are coming thru the cloth, it is horrible… wa wa wa I’m so disappointed

I enjoy going to this location. Most Fridays have 50% off clothing and most Saturdays have 50% off furniture. It’s a huge store with a lot of items. Definitely need to be patient since it does get very busy. Giving ⁴⁄₅ stars since the clothing isles are tight. Can’t really bring the shopping cart while looking at the clothing.

Racks are too cramped I can barely look through the close so I skip it and head to the bric a brac, furniture and easy access items. For those stuff there are a lot of good things I wish I could buy it all.
Prices are reasonable.
The location is sketch lots of sketchy people and kids running around. I wasn’t even done putting my receipt in my bag and grabbing my 3 bags when a lady shoves herself into me pot in hand to put at the register so she can be rung up. I wanted to say something in Spanish but didn’t and there is a line you’re supposed to wait at and not get into people’s personal space.
They should have better management.

Just went in to shop for last min Halloween shopping and this girl named Hannah was very polite and welcoming! She helped me find what I needed for my costume and talked to every costumer that came into the door. I was grateful for her help and kindness. The store can be a bit over filled with clothing making it not accessible to even look at clothes because there is so much on the rack. But customer service made up for that problem. Thanks Salvation Army in Orange! I found the best stuff!

I came into their store on Saturday, October 17, 2015 about 10:30 AM. As I walked into the store, there was a large signed that read «all clothing 50% off». About 20 minutes later, I walked by the cashier and noted that the sign was gone. When I asked a young man working in the front, he curtly told me that he just removed the sign because it was only for the weekdays. When I informed him that I picked out at least 10 or 11 items believing that they were 50% off, he said only the items with white tags were 50% off. I had to put back at least a third of my selections.
After paying for my items, I checked the receipt and noted that several items were charged at full-​price. At that point, I still had not left the store. When I presented the receipt to the same cashier, he said that the tags to these items were not white. At closer inspections, they were a bluish off-​white color. You can hardly tell when compared with the white tags. I informed him that I no longer wanted these items and would like to have my money back. He again curtly said…“we don’t give refunds. Just credits”. This is despite my insistent that I have not even left the store yet. I asked to speak to the manager, who again rudely reiterated the no-​refund policy. She could not even be bothered to help me and started to walk away. I had to ask her to stop so that I could explain the situation, including the sign that said «all clothing 50% off» earlier. She said that this sign was removed before the store opened this morning. This is an absolute bold-​face lie given the fact that the male cashier admitted to me that he himself removed the signed after I had entered the store.

What a fun place to shop for a great deal. A real treasure hunt. Friendly staff and will definitely come back again.

I came by today to donate a Peg Perego stroller that was over $ 400 and a breast feeding pillow and a play mat and a car seat cover and a few pair of shoes
Instead of selling all of this I decided to donate it because there are a lot of people out there who are in need
I called before I went
The lady I spoke with didn’t tell me there were things I couldnt donate
I got there took out the stroller
A guy who is about 18 – 20 years old was there
And I put the stroller next to the other things there
He grabbed it
And then 15 secs later
As I’m putting back my stuff in the trunk that I had to take out in order to take out the stroller
He comes towards me and tells me that he can’t accept the stroller
And I’m like why and he’s like because of liability
And he’s being all rude by talking to me with attitude
Tf?
I tell him oh but you will accept a car seat?
Because he had taken a car seat that was there by all the stuff being donated
And he tells me oh someone left it there
And he continues to give me attitude
And I just tell him so you will take a car seat that you have no idea if it has been in an accident or if it has expired
But to my knowledge strollers don’t have one
He kept going with me about how he can’t accept it and so on telling me I’m dumping because he can’t accept it and how he was going to throw it away in the trash and so on
I just left it there
I called them and told the lady who answered about what happened smh
If strollers aren’t allowed to be donated there should a sign or something or when I called the lady should’ve had told me what they do and don’t accept
Really Salvation Army is ungrateful
I’m over here trying to donate and then they tell me they are going to throw my items that I donated in the trash
Why even try to donate here? If it’s going to end up in the trash
I’m really mad and upset
I’m trying to do a good thing by donating all my baby stuff to people in need
I had a big box of baby clothes and many more things i was going to donate thank god I wasn’t able to bring it to my car today
I will be donating it to a completely different place and not here

$alvation Army. Yikes. Ive seen too much at this store here. Pretty crooked. Bric-​à-​brac is ok… Lake Forest and Santa Ana is MUCH BETTER. Beautiful store with unhappy staff, bitter pricing. Such a shame!!!

What’s with the attitude with the donation staff? The guy was giving me a hard time and told me he needed me to lift everything up into the truck myself after unloading it from my own truck, While he did what??? Isn’t that the whole purpose of him being there? To help out those donating hundreds of dollars to a charity? Might have to think about donating here in the future

I would rate as zero if it was a choice, please see below email I just sent o them after waiting 10 hours for a donation pick up.
I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am with your organization. I called last week and scheduled a pick up for today. As instructed I called the 800 number this morning at 8:00 AM and was told my pick up was scheduled between 9-​noon. At 12:30 concerned I call customer service ask what had happened, they told me I was number 8 on the list and she said they would definitely be here by 1:30. At 4:00 pm I called again and told the truck was in Irvine and there were still 2 pickups ahead of me. At 5:00 Pm I called again only to hear a closed message. At 6:30 I received a call telling me there would be no pick up because the truck was full.
What kind of business are you running certainly not one with any organization skills or any pride in what you do. This has completely ruined my moving timeline. I have no choice now but to start calling other organization who charge to pick up «junk» which my solid oak furniture certainly is not! You should be ashamed to be working for such a reckless and undependable company. I intend to make it my business to let everyone I know understand how aggravating this was spending 10 hours in limbo waiting for your company to do what it promised. Look for my review on Unilocal I assure you, you will not be pleased.

The staff are nice, some in particular are AWESOME! Too bad the prices are outrageous! This store– all of them– are ridiculous! Their prices are exorbitant to the point that oftentimes, things actually cost more at the SA Store, even though they’re used and not in top condition. One example are the Ball jars, at $ 2.69 each! I can get a case, of the identical size, at Walmart, for &9.79! They had 50% off last weekend, and even then, they were more expensive! There is NO bargain at Salvation Army Stores!

Absolutely horrified and I will never donate or return again to this location or any other Salvation Army until the management changes or begins strict standards for code of conduct/​procedure. I don’t mind over priced items, that’s opinion, but I’ve now been overcharged twice for items scanned wrong or twice and this last time they refuse to refund the incorrect amount and simply offered that I pick something else or get store credit for their mistake! Now unless I’m wrong can companies scan an item twice and then force you to choose something instead of getting a refund for their mistake? If its okay then I’m in the wrong but this is ridiculous they should be ashamed

They seem to have it all here: clothing, shoes, books, furniture, knick knacks, even coffee. Everything is very well organized and even the housewares area is organized by color.
There is usually some sort of deal the day you go in, I came in on a Saturday and the books were 4 for $ 1, score! They also had 50% clothing and 30% furniture. They have «collectible» items that are never discounted and what I think is overpriced.
My only complaint is when you buy furniture, they will literally not help you put it in your car or carry it past the back door for you, so come prepared with extra hands and rope and whatever else you need to get it to its next destination.

Firstly, the manager here is AWFUL. He very rudely told us we couldnt use the bathroom because someone ripped the door off. RIPPED THE DOOR OFF A ONE PERSON RESTROOM WITH NO ONE IN THE BACKROOM NOTICING?! Hard to believe doesn’t cover it. Also, the pricing on their «collectible» items is horrific. $ 150 for a rusty bike. $ 400 for a used computer. $ 4 for a usee baby blanket. outrageous. The manager is always here and always a complete a-​hole. doesnt know how to manage or treat people. Leaves a very negative taste in your mouth. I AM DONE!!!

This store has always been more often overpriced than not. I only go in there if I am looking for something specific, and I want to take the off chance they have it, and are only asking twice what other thrift store would rather than 3 times. ugh! What is always surprising to me over the years is that it is usually very busy. How can that be?
The store also often feels junky, adding insult to injury of the prices being too much for the junky junk. I too have experienced staff to be very unfriendly. Maybe they don’t pay them enough. But, you sure as heck would think they would with the price tags on most everything in that store.
Gosh wouldn’t you think the numbers don’t lie here. These reviews are all identical. But then again do you really think any powers to be are going to make changes to a store that is as busy as that one is. Again, that has always baffled me. Wal-​mart has cheaper prices. In this case though greed will not allow the right thing to be done here trust me.

Came here on a fluke, been on a second hand store binge looking for jewelry. This place is very clean and neat, but just like most reviewers have said, their prices are really high for used items. They do have sales, but they were very specific and only on a few items (Skirts half off on cold rainy day -.-) Gotta’ look for those 50% off everything days which is a pain if they come randomly and you don’t shop there often.
Clothes were nice but again, too pricey. Another thing, the workers there were not friendly at all especially the cashier. A bit aggressive for a place that asks for donations.

Its a great thrift store. I found my fabulas ugly christmas sweater. Dont go during lunch time. crowded!

I always go in here within optimistic mindset but always leave thinking «Why do I bother with this place?» It never has anything interesting or even useful and the prices are really high for the crap they’re selling. Seriously, it’s crap stuff and the prices are just nuts. There was a slightly-​interesting table with gross stained chairs and the table had the veneer chipped on the top. They wanted $ 700 bucks! INSANE!!!
I hope this review will encourage me to skip this place when thrifting in my neck of the woods.

At 2pm on a friday was packed. What I found as an avid thrifter was that items were either overpriced or crap. Many broken items. Note I did NOT go through the clothes. But the shoes were also very much overpriced.
I went to Chapman college years ago and I know the thrifts used to be our usual place to find funky clothes. Maybe the clothes are better.

This place must think its the Nordstrom of thrift stores. They sell furniture and their average mark up on the donated crap they sell is between $ 50 and $ 300 and I’m not kidding.
Their men’s shirts are nearly $ 7.00 a piece. The prices are supposed o reflect the clientele which are mostly low income people that need low priced items.
They raise their prices and have a boutique like section where they separate all the stuff they think is collectible. I used to love to come here a couple of years ago and score awesome stuff for garage sale prices. Those days are long gone.

I have never been inside the shop itself. However, I have been buy a few times to drop off donations. The stuff wasn’t junk either. Every time I come, the guys working there are grumpy as heck. They make me feel so bad about coming like as if it were a chore or a burden, that I stopped donating here and always go to the Lutheran shop up the street.
