I called ahead to make sure the store would be open and Emi gave me detailed directions and said she would wait for me to arrive. She brought me a wide selection of bo to try and even gave me a container of oil to use to maintain the wood. She then quickly and expertly fit me for a new gi, paying attention to how I wanted it cut. I would recommend this store to anyone for whom quality and service matter more than price alone. I have purchased gis and weapons from several online stores and prefer this experience.

Fantastic service and top quality gear for any karateka. Not far off of the 55 in Orange, Shureido is a small, but well run martial arts supply shop for Karate. They have a variety of uniforms from Kumite weight all the way to competition grade Kata. The owners(I dealt mainly with Emi) are super polite and helpful and will make sure you get the right gi for what you need. You can get adjustments made there and also pick up training weapons and WKF approved gear for kumite as well. They even sell traditional equipment for Hojo Undo if that’s what you’re looking for.

Emi was exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable, professional and patient. I was looking to buy a gi and I was looking all around the internet. I did my research and Shureido was the top Gi I wanted. I then found this store, which was located in Orange, CA. Im from the Bay Area, 6 hours away, but I decided to make a trip there since I was going to spend a lot of money. I called Emi first because I had questions about which Shureido Gi I wanted and I swear we spent 45 minutes on the phone of her telling me which Gi they offered and which one would best suit me. I told her I wanted the top of the line Gi, which would last me for years. She recommended the KC-10 and she told me they do customization and alteration for a good fit. So I did the 6 hour drive and went to the store. From there, the great customer service did not stop. They offered me and my guest 2 free bottled water and Emi brought the Gis out for fitting and sizing. She helped me properly fit each gi and answered even more questions. The gi felt amazing, and did not feel heavy at all, even though it was a heavy weight gi. The pants were a little long and I told her what I wanted and she said she’ll ship it out after the alteration. Overall I spent 270 for my forever Gi. Yes it is pricey but for the quality and customer service I will buy future Gi from Shureido USA again.

Not cheap but in this case, you get what you pay for. Simply the very best high quality kobudo weapons imported from Okinawa. And their karate gi is world class. The owners, Eric and Emi are Okinawan and are very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended! Sensei William Christopher Ford Kaizen Dojo, Torrance

While somewhat pricey, Shuriedo gis are worth the price. Being a tight wad, that’s not a statement I make lightly! They look great, according to my 12 year old son, feel great and the New Wave 1s are easy to care for. My son says his New Wave 1 and his iTouch are his favorite possessions! The owners are very efficient and helpful and I am always happy to visit Shureido.
