History

Established in 2005.

The Whitworth School began six years ago in Carol Whitworth’s home at the request of local parents. Carol’s reputation as one of the founders of the Delphian Lower School in Sheridan, Oregon made her the natural choice to initiate a similar system of education in Orange County. As word spread, the school outgrew its humble beginnings and moved to larger quarters in Tustin. Eventually more space was needed and we are now located on a beautiful, spacious campus in Old Town Orange, with plenty of room for growth.

First of all, my son or daughter did not attend this school. I did visit the school and found out they are Scientology related. They use Scientology terminology and if you meet with them they have Scientology books and videos in the administrators office. They do not advertise any of this.

My daughter had been at this school since she was 3. She is emotionally and academically intelligent beyond her years. We did move awhile back and I had to place her in a different private school. She completely wilted. Her love for school diminished. We tried to make the general system work for us for 2 years and to no avail. There just isn’t any place like Whitworth. Here the kids LOVE to learn. They are bright, happy and engaged at all times. The program is designed and delivered in such a way that the success of each student is definitive. Total win win for everyone including staff and parents. I know that everyday my child loves her school and can’t wait to share her successes with me. Just awesome.

Our two grandchildren have been at the Whitworth School for several years. We love it. The teachers are professional and thoroughly wonderful, and the school is outstanding for how successfully it helps its students develop both in body and mind.

This school is amazing. My girls love to get up and go to school! Each girl started reading at the age of 4 or under. They are each a year a head of the standard school program and love learning. The staff to student ratio is perfect. No more than 12 students to 1 teacher. The kids understand what they are reading and learning so they can apply their daily studies to daily life. Each child can be on a different level in their class but they are all together at the school. The kids learn at their own pace and the program is written specifically for them. Check this school out, it is wonderful.

My two kids have been at the Whitworth School since a very young age. They are happy, intelligent, competent, communicative and interested in learning about the world around them. They love their friends and teachers. The group is intimate, with older children readily accepting the younger children as friends and helping them out. As an additional bonus, both children are ahead of their grade levels. All these factors combine to make me a very happy parent!

If I could give them more than five stars I would! My children are in excellent shape every day when I pick them up from school they started reading at can early age, thanks to Carol’s expert approach to teaching young children to read. I have seen miracles happen with children who came to the school who were compromised and struggling with different aspects of learning. Carol and her staff changed their lives, allowing these children to mainstream in to advanced high schools and eventually colleges. I can’t say enough good things. I am so grateful to have found this school when my children were young.

The school is an ideal environment for my daughter who is very high energy and needs to be productive at all times. The school staff channels that energy instead of worrying that it is too much (which unfortunately is the norm in other school environments).
Bella is ahead of grade level thanks to the great curriculum and teaching. Each child has their individualized program so no one is left behind and no one is stopped to wait for another. The school provides just the right balance of theory and application. My favorite part is that she is an avid reader thanks to the curriculum the school uses.

My Kids have gone here since they were in kindergarten. I am completely pleased with the progress both kids have made and both are over a year ahead of where they would be in public school. They are happy at the end of the day when I go to pick them up and they don’t want to leave. My son tells me to wait so he can finish his homework before we go home.

My daughter attended a traditional Montessori for 2 years. At 3 years of age, she became very unhappy about going to school and I had a very hard time getting her to stay at school each morning when I dropped her off. One day when I was talking with her about school, she explained that she really wanted to read like the older kids in Montessori. I talked with her teacher and was told this could not happen at all until she was older. Each day her drop off at school became worse and worse. Finally, I pulled her from school and at a suggestion of a friend, took her to the Whitworth school for a trial week. By the end of the week, my daughter was reading! This at 3 years old! She is now 4 years old and she loves school. She enjoys learning and we have a hard time getting her to go home at night when we pick her up. I would highly recommend the Whitworth school! They gave my daughter the personal attention she needed and I am extremely grateful!

My kids love being there. Moreover, they are truly learning and enjoy their education. Personalized and personal. Public schools are becoming factories, whereas this school is making our future with bright, young people.
