Handyman Network

On September 8, 2016 we signed a contract with Handyman Network’s «craftsman», Walker. His first name was Mac or Mack. We agreed on the contract he would build a curb and tile our small master shower from floor to ceiling, tile 15 s/​f floor, finish installing drywall and knockdown, and a few other small things. We agreed to pay $ 3480 with 10% down and we were responsible for supplies. During the job my husband went to Home Depot numerous times. By the time he’s finished fixing Mac’s mistakes he estimates he will have spent an additional $ 250. Mac also asked for an additional $ 100 at the end for things he claimed to have purchased. Our total was $ 3830 and we paid cash for the tile we purchased at Home Depot. The job was to be completed on September 20^th. In reality, he was struggling to complete it on the 28^th, when he determined he was finished.
He was an older, «experienced» contractor, who gave us good advice regarding the type of tile to use, how to make the most of the small space, etc. Boy, were we fooled. He had a young man come in and prepare the floor to be tiled. I overheard him being critical to the young man. Unsure why, but we were happy with his work.
MY COMPLAINT: He was slow, and I mean really, really slow. He would cut one piece of tile at a time slow. It looked like he used a boot to finish the drywall, and knock down was not done correctly. Light can be seen coming through the drywall corners, again, because it was done incorrectly. My husband had to replace six pieces of tile because they were crooked, and not symmetrical (oh gosh, that would have driven me crazy insane to look at every day).
He use grout, instead of caulk for the corners. The real kicker was when he asked my husband if he wanted to «borrow» his tile cutter so he (my husband) could do the floor. Really? Are you kidding? He insisted at first that it wasn’t part of the contract. Why the heck would we hire someone to do everything but the floor? In the end, I just wanted him to go and never come back.
I was responsible for checking his work and pay because my husband had to go out of town unexpectedly. For some unknown, bizarre reason he didn’t wipe the grout with a wet sponge after it dried. When he came to collect his check I asked him how can I check your work if you don’t wipe the grout off. He told me my husband said he would do it. Really? Are you kidding? In the end he did a very sloppy job cleaning it which even he admitted when they sent him back.
MY COMPLAINT ABOUT HANDYMAN NETWORK: When my husband returned for being out of town he was unhappy with his work. He called Handyman Network to complain about everything I mentioned above. They came out immediately and were shocked at the sloppy job and assured him it would be taken care of. What did they do? They sent the same guy (who needs to retire) to fix his mistakes. He wanted to use caulk he happened to already have in his truck, instead of what he was he was suppose to use. After they sent that clown back out to our house my husband told him to leave.
I know I’m going on and on. Why?
Handyman Network never made a follow up call to find out if we were satisfied with the finished product. This tells me they really don’t care!!!
On a more positive note, my handyman husband said he learned a lot and next time he might be able to do it himself. Love you babe!

Talked to the owner for about 30 min on the phone just to get referrals on who can help me with a complicated job. He was very nice and helpful, called people for me right on the spot, and all while knowing he wasn’t getting anything out of it. Just to help me out! This company has great customer service! Thank you!

This review is long overdue, but I was reminded of the workmanship while installing a new mirror in our remodeled bathroom. Mac from Handyman Network is a true pro – not a handyman but a former general contractor. As remodels go, what started out simple got more complex, but we got not only a new bathroom (better upgrades than what we originally conceived), but new copper plumbing under the house, fixture upgrades to our guest bath and long put-​off repairs to hallway walls, tiles, etc.
Friends have commented on the work: «A handyman did this?!!» Those statements speak for themselves.
Rich and Mac quoted a fair price, and we got better than our expected value. WE highly recommend their work – we’ll be calling them back for our next project!

Writing this for my grandma, she really wanted me to send praise on how professional and amazing the work was! The work was very detailed and affordable! My handyman was Brian, and I would defiantly recommend handyman network to anyone, friends or family!

Hired this company to replace a rotted window sill. While pounding the sill into place from the outside, the interior window frame was pushed away from the wall which cracked the drywall in the bathroom. After two days of wrangling the owner, Rich, came out to look at the damage. Rather than fix the drywall, he handed me my original check and refused the fix the damage because the cost of fixing the damage would be more than the amount I paid to replace the rotted window sill. Rich was very rude and began referring to me as «dude» and «idiot». As he drove off in his vehicle he flips me the bird. Don’t walk away from this company — run. Unbelievable.

Had to have a wall fixed and Joe worked on it. Excellent job and he had great customer service. Very satisfied.

I was very pleased with the handyman network service at my house in East Sacramento. Bedroom upstairs was very hot in the summer. The handyman network added additional insulation re did the Sheetrock replaced the windows and stuccoed the exterior. All work was done on time and and within budget.

Just wanted to say how happy I am with the customer service and outstanding work that Handyman Network has done! We had our bathroom remodel. the work was done quickly and end results were outstanding! We highly recommend this company and plan to use Handyman Network again in the future.

Very disappointed in our experience with the Handyman Network. We needed some drywall/​general repair work and the quality of work was very poor. They left the job site very messy and the guy who did our work was very very distracted and couldn’t stay with one task. The workmanship was very poor and there was no attention to detail. Their estimate was also very confusing, it didn’t include any materials or removal of waste, you had to pay extra for everything and they never were clear about it with the initial estimate.
The jobs we needed services for were split up into 2 – 3 days but after the first day we were so disappointed we decided to contact the owner. The owner was so rude to us and started yelling as soon as he picked up the phone before hearing what we had to say. He told us he was too busy and he was sure we only had a problem with the costs. After getting very demeaned by him we sent in our payment for one day of service with a letter stating our displeasure with the company and promising to write reviews with Unilocal and the BBB he called after receiving that with a whole new tone.
Save yourself the time and go with a company that will treat you with respect and that will do quality work.

Horrible experience. They were to install a pet door and replace a broken door. The first guy they sent didn’t know what he was doing. He brought the replacement door and installed it wrong and sloppy. He didn’t know how to install the doggy door. So then we talked to handyman network and they sent out their best guy. Finally the door was installed right, both of them. However, they charged $ 250 just to paint one door. Nope, not a mural, no trompe l’oeil, just a plain, white door. Rip off. I will never use them again.

I have used Handyman Network for fixing fences to installing appliances. They are always on time and do an excellent job! I would recommend them. I am currently saving up money for a kitchen remodel. They are the company that will be doing it for me!

Everyone at Handyman Network is amazing. They are hard working, efficient and very professional. I was very impressed with the work they had done. I highly recommend them for all handyman needs.
