I got referred to S J’s DJ Service from my wedding planner and I am very glad we hired them. They were easy to work with and I got in contact and booked with Jeremy right away. The booking was simple and easy and an overall great experience.
Then we started talking and meeting with Jeremy and knew it was going to be a perfect match. He was friendly, down to earth, and had a lot of experience. Everything he said was exactly what we wanted even though we hadn’t thought of it yet. He provided great tips, paperwork which helped us decide what we wanted and spent a lot of time working on planning the whole experience together with us.
During the wedding everything went so smoothly, no squeaky mics or scratchy noises, no awkward silences. He did a great job getting everyone organized, where they needed to be and when, he also worked well with our band, and smoothly transitioned from band to DJ. He also mixed songs well that we had both wanted!
It was awesome and I would recommend him for sure!

Jeremy did our wedding on 1÷9÷16 and was Great! He knows how to read a crowd and play music that every age bracket loves. We had a blast and all of our guest kept telling us how great our DJ was. He made our reception an fun Party !

On first meeting Joe, I knew i wanted him to DJ my wedding. He is professional, friendly, and fun to talk with. He was easy to talk to and made planning the night even easier. From ceremony to reception, Joe asked questions about who was attending, music we liked to listen to, theme of the wedding, even music we couldn’t stand. If I had random questions about situations he was there to ask and never seemed bothered, which for a bride was super comforting.
Joe is also great at reading a crowed. The night of the wedding he made sure that everything was going smoothly, making sure that people were enjoying themselves and not bored. As the older crowd of our wedding guests were winding down he asked to move up our bouquet toss before people started going home. And once the older crowd started to filter out he changed the music to more entertaining stuff for the younger guests.
At the very least, you want to check out his office and chat with him. You’ll like him, I promise.

If you want a DJ that is real and fun without sounding fake and over the top (we all know we’ve been to events with those kind) then Joe is your guy! I actually found Joe from Unilocal and have to say he is the BEST vendor we could have ever chosen! He is truly the life of your event. He is so easy to work with and made our wedding so much fun. He finds such great ways to get all your guests to interact and dance and rolled with our last minute song and speech changes so easily and kindly. It has been a few weeks since our event and people are still commenting on how great he was. I can tell you with full certainty he is worth every penny and then some and will make your wedding unforgettable.

We used Rich Carlson from SJ’s Disc Jockey for our July 2015 wedding. We couldn’t have gone with a better DJ. He listened to our goals and ideas for the night and brought his own style into it making it a night that ran smooth with everyone on the dance floor. When we met with Rich he told us that he wanted the reception to end with our guests wanting more and that’s exactly how it went! We still have people telling us they had so much fun and weren’t ready for it to end! Pricing was very fair, he wasn’t the cheapest and not the most expensive. We have since went to a wedding that had a DJ that we looked at with a very high price point and the evening just did not compare, although I could be biased ;) but most likely not. Highly highly recommend!

I just got married recently and Joe was our DJ. Besides the fact that he did an amazing job, he also helped us plan the wedding by referring us lots of great vendors. Our wedding was perfect because of Joe! Besides the entertainment, Joe will bring with him great lightening (including the projected monogram of your last name!) and a fog machine!!! And to top that, he also offers photo booths! My friends and family loved to take funny pictures and Joe made a nice album where we have copies of those pictures to remember our special day forever! If you want THE BEST DJ pick Joe! Your wedding will be amazing and stress free!!!

Joe just recently DJ’d for our wedding (Aug. 23, 2015) and he did a wonderful job! He was recommended to us by one of our friends who also had Joe for her wedding and we would definitely recommend him to our other friends. :) 5 stars for sure!!!
His office is also pretty cool! Definitely worth the visit!

My husband and I were absolutely thrilled for Joe to do our wedding from the first meeting we had with him. I love Joe’s energy, his number one priority is for everyone to have a great time! He was on The Old Sugar Mill’s preferred vendor list and I am so happy he was the first DJ to email us back. He made our night so perfect and I couldn’t imagine another person being able to do what he did.

My husband and I couldn’t be more satisfied with Joe Kalamaras! He was recommended from my best friend who hired him for her wedding that was 3 months before ours.
I believe Joe thought I was a bit nuts as the first time we talked to him, many months before our wedding, it took me 2 minutes to know he was the DJ we wanted. I asked him after our first conversation if he could send over an invoice so we can get things started. He told us that we should be sure and it was alright if we took some time to explore other options. I explicitly remember saying, «no, we want you, send the papers».
From then on, our experience got better and better. The payment process was seamless and stress free. One thing you will learn about Joe, he has one tone: cool, calm and collected. I am not sure if he knows how to raise his voice! If I had a stressful question or asked him for another invoice for payment, he would shoot back an email within 10 minutes with a quick response. It was so nice not to have someone send back a long, drawn out email when a simple one sufficed.
My husband and I were in our best friend’s wedding where we got to see how DJ Joe performed. My friend wanted all kinds of different things; ceremony wedding, ballroom reception, every single wedding party couple had their own song to come into for the grand entrance etc. Joe met every need of hers and exceeded expectations! We loved the music he played for her wedding!
It was our wedding month. I sent Joe a song list schedule and at the end were the «do not play» songs. I am very Type A and let’s just say this list was not easy. I even asked him to snip out part of the song that I walked down to and he did it without question. He cut songs where I asked him to cut them and he made rock, modern country, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s songs all work together without awkward transitions. My family and friends had SO much fun and loved everything about our DJ.
We had a backyard wedding in Salinas, CA. He managed to make all sounds and lighting work perfectly not knowing what this backyard looked like before the day of. His stand was on pavers right next to the deck where we made the dance floor. Joe was so good, the pavers AND the deck turned into dance floors. What wedding has two dance floors? Ours did!
One thing that was appreciated by us as well as our guests was that Joe went table to table to excuse them for our buffet style dinner. Most DJ’s would announce tables, but Joe went to a personal level and connected with the guests. What else could you ask for in a DJ?
Fun, professional, quick to respond, amazing and seamless playlist, abides by everything you give him, Skype’s when you need to chat with him, personable — we could go on forever! We would recommend 15 times over!

Joe is absolutely the BEST! I am a wedding coordinator at a venue in downtown Sacramento, and I have the pleasure of working with Joe often! He is one of our preferred vendors on our vendor list and it’s truly because he is so good at what he does!

This is a long, overdue review, but better late than never!
I got married back in April of this year (2015) and had 4 months of available planning. Luckily, we came across Rich at SJ’s DJ.
One word: Outstanding!!! He’s funny and clever, yet very professional. If it weren’t for him, I feel like my wedding would have been a bust. I’ve had more people compliment the flow of the wedding than ever thought. This was all Rich’s doing! He and his team did an amazing job and if I had to do it all over again (I never plan on doing it all over again), I’d choose him in a heart beat!
Pricing is fair… you get what you pay for and then some! A DJ is NOT something you want to skimp out on. They can make or break a wedding. In my case, he MADE IT!!!

We had such a great experience our DJ Joe! He was so interactive with our guests they all had an amazing time. He played all great music and listened to everything we asked for. Everyone complemented his style. He also did our lighting and our photo booth which was a huge hit. He was very professional, helpful, and by far our best vendor. He gave us great information and gave us some suggestions for other vendors that all worked out great as well. Overall…100% satisfied with zero complaints. Highly, HIGHLY recommend!

Joe was recommended by my awesome photographer (Memeories By Tanya). Tanya said he was amazing, and she was SO RIGHT! From first contact to the wedding day, everything was stellar. Joe kept the guests engaged, and played great music. So professional and fun! The guests were in hysterics when tables had to sing a song that had the word «love» in it, in order to go to the buffet line! Guests has a blast with the photobooth, and it was a huge hit. The flash drive that we were given of all the guest photobooth pics and video messages was priceless! Very nice touch!

We worked with Rich Carlson on a recommendation from Joe. He was amazing! Everyone at our wedding loved the music and we had people raging from 2 years old to 80 years old. It was the most awesome reception we could have ever dreamed of thanks to Rich! He even helped us come up with an awesomely unique way to introduce our wedding party! We highly recommend him!

I can’t say enough good things about Joe. He was easy to contact in the beginning and was patient and answered all questions. My husband and I love indie music with a few artists not well known. Joe allowed us to make our own playlist and he played majority of songs on our playlist. We even have a friend who is getting married next month asked to send us our playlist for her to use for her wedding. Joe created a smooth flow and complemented the nice ambiance that our beautiful outdoor venue has. I had people compliment him to me during the wedding. I highly recommend him! He even got people to dance for our wedding which we don’t have a lot of dancers in our family. I also did an anniversary bouquet dance that he facilitated which was special. We couldn’t be anymore happier with our decision. Thank you Joe for being a part of our memorable beautiful day and helping make it just that.

We had the pleasure of working with Rich Carlson, and have to say, he did a great job as DJ/​MC of our wedding this past weekend. We initially met with Rich in his home several months ago for our initial consultation and we instantly liked his presence.
We met once more about a month before the wedding and he walked us through the entire ceremony from the time people got there, to the processional, cocktail hour and through to the last dance. He had a simple worksheet that we all went through together that pieced our evening together, and I have to say it was great having his insights on it all. He had an idea for everything, whether it was a song selection we hadn’t figured out yet, or how to introduce the bridal party — a truly genius idea, but I don’t want to give away his secret, so you’ll have to call him and ask him yourself!
SJ’s Disc Jockey makes it really easy as well, offering lighting packages, upgraded sound systems and a selection of photo booths — make sure you opt for the unlimited prints, I promise it’s worth it!
At the event, the evening went perfectly and flowed seamlessly! I 100% recommend this company and Rich’s services.

I love dj joe! He was such a great energy at our wedding. There was never a dull moment at the ceremony or reception. He does a great job keeping energy high and reading the crowd. He was attentive to us and made sure during the ceremony that we were taken care of. Dj joe met with us a few weeks before to get a feel for our likes/​dislikes and musical tastes. He has great advice on entrance ideas and games etc. He was very nice and came across as genuinely interested and excited for our day. I had read reviews before and all were great, I can now attest first hand that dj joe is amazing. Book him now!

My new husband and I had a great time working with Joe!
We had one request which was once we kissed and were pronounced husband and wife that he would play a song but at the specific time (like a min and 30 seconds in or something like that) and my new husband and I would run down the isle. He had that song perfectly que’d up! Out of everything i heard i knew that was dead on what we wanted and both my husband and i both commented on how he got it perfect!
Throughout the day i dont remember hearing to much, i guess with all the hussle and bussle of being the bride you dont get to take in all the little things but all i know is my husband and i and all my guests danced our hearts out! We have no complaints! Joe was easy to work and had a lot of creative ideas.
Also that photobooth was a HIT! Pretty sure everyone should have one of those at their wedding! Joe even got in and took some pics with me! Great guy!
