History

Established in 2001.

In 2001 we started CORE wines with a combined 17 years of experience in the vineyard and winery industry. We produced 240 cases our first vintage and now produce 4500 cases over 4 brands.

We’re one of the few wineries to focus on high end blends of Grenache, Mourvedre and Tempranillo in the United States.

When you visit our tasting room you’ll taste with the people who make it happen.

Meet the Business Owner

Dave C.

Business Owner

I started in 1987 working for Cambria winery in the vineyards. After 4 years I started Vital Vines to help growers grow better grapes for wineries. In 2003 I started Alta Mesa Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. Grew Grenache and Mourvedre for 7 years. Using most of the Grenache and Mourvedre grapes for my CORE label started in 2001. The rest I sold to highly rated wineries. Starting at $ 1250 a ton the first year and $ 4000/ton 4 years later.

My wife and I started CORE wines in 2001 with 240 cases. By 2005 we were producing 3500 cases of wine. Our wines are primarily blends and have received high acclaim from Robert Parker, Rhone Report and other well known bloggers and critics.

What makes us special is we started with nothing and built from the ground up. We’re a family owned business who performs and has knowledge in all facets of our business
