This N’ That

At one time I had a huge need to furnish the front end of my store. There are two other furniture stores on Main Street, and one of them I used extensively for bigger high end new items, Homelife Furniture (see my review). But for the little stuff, wall accessories, baskets, smaller tables and even a dresser I came to This N’ That. I found good deals and it was very convenient. So if I received excellent service and good prices why only 3 stars? When it was all said and done and I needed to move the items out of my store due to closure I tried to sell them back to the store. I know the owner purchases the items from all over the place, so why not from me? They were hardly used and in some cases in better condition when I bought them. I wasn’t expecting the full value of my purchase price. The answer was absolutely no.
The lesson learned from this establishment: you better love it when you buy it ’cause it’s yours forever if you don’t. I have and will not be giving my money to these folks again.

I just happened to be in the area today so I stopped into this fun quirky little shop. It literally is it’s name… a varied assortment including a few really nice large antique piece, small tchotchkes, and a lot of things between.
The upstairs floorboards are kind of wonky… seem a little questionable.
Pricing seemed pretty reasonable.
Cute little store if you’re in the area but wouldn’t make a special trip from Beaverton

My only complaint which I guess doesn’t jive with others’ opinions is that their prices are a little steep. Perhaps I’m just cheap. The owner (Ryan, I think?) is super friendly and they really always have just really cool and unique things to see. It’s a fun Sunday afternoon stop for me and the hubby… when we’re kid free, anyway. I wouldn’t recommend stopping in with curious fingers. Too much stuff for my son to break and blame on his brother.

I have found unique dressers here and vintage décor! So much fun ! :)

I am a big fan of recycling great stuff – This-​N-​That always has something that catches my eye. It is not a consignment shop, the owner buys all of the furniture outright. He has a good eye and is picky about what he brings in. The prices are great. If you are looking for something specific you may want to check here first. You never know what you will find. If they don’t have it this week, they may have it the next as new stuff comes in daily.

It is difficult to explain This N’ That. It is kind of a mix of Craigslist, an antique store and a thrift shop. I consider the prices low for antiques and high for a thrift shop. While I do not go out of my way to come here, if I am in downtown Oregon City I will drop in, so far I still have not found anything to bring home. I really want to like this place, I just do not share the enthusiasm of other reviewers. Come with low expectations and you may leave with a treasure.

Friendly service and very reasonable prices. The nice lady working helped me and my wife and gave us a deal on some nice art for our living room. We were quite pleased with the visit and will come through again when visiting the area.

Pulled off in Oregon city on a recent road trip while I waited for the rain to subside and ended up in this store passing time. No intention of buying anything. Fast forward an hour and a half, loading up my car with my goodies! And blue skies! The time flew by in there because there is so much cool stuff to check out. Cool stuff I never knew I needed!!! Ended up with an awesome funky side table with an awesome little lamp with the coolest iron cover, and a cool vintage buddha sculpture and a neat pot for my plants on my patio. 69 bucks for all the loot! And the lady that works there helped me arrange my car to make space, and did all the loading. And made me laugh my buttocks off!!!

While this shop has some interesting pieces I feel like some of the things are a little over priced for their condition. Furniture seemed to be priced decently, the knick knacks are the items that can be a bit up there. I’me talking about things that are falling apart or have a lot of damage. This is the only reason it’s getting 3 stars.
It may have just been my unlucky day, I walked in on a day they didn’t have a lot of gems but I don’t seem myself going back to Oregon City simply for the store anytime soon. If I happen to be in the area though, I’ll pop in. ALSO, I want to mention two more things 1. this shop is SO much better organized than the other thrift/​vintage/​antique shops we went to in OC on that trip. I was able to walk around easily without a bunch of merch on the floor (which was the case in the other places). 2. The woman working that day was really nice. I’m not generally the kind of person that likes to be chatted up by people that work in a store I’m looking in (I’m just anti-​social that way) but she was so nice and helpful. I bought an ottoman that I had seen posted on Craigslist (that’s how we found the shop) and she carried it out to the van and everything. She offered to help many times while we were there.

Lots of cool stuff there. The furniture is in good condition. I bought a chair there earlier this year and I looove it. They saved me the drive out to Hillsboro to look at another chair from Craigslist, and they worked with my budget also. I am still very much in love with my blue chair and will go back to This N That whenever I need new (to me) furnishings in the future.

You know how it is. You want to find that great old treasure or funky old knick knack, but what options do you have?
A. you did through a bunch of crap on shelves and bins hoping to find a treasure and get it for a steal of a price.
B. You go into a cute «resale» store with nice displays and careful selection of inventory, but you pay a huge «boutique» price. RIGHT?
So here is how I discovered this incredible solution to my lifelong problem. Today, I was going to attend Divorce court with my hairdresser. I dressed in my favorite black pants, knee high boots, black turtle neck sweater and long brocaid white jacket. I even straightened my hair and put on white earings. I was going to look damn good in her divorce court. So i show up at noon and find out the docket has been changed and it’s rescheduled for 6 weeks out. BUT WHAT ABOUT ME??? I got dressed up for nothing??? So here I am on Main Street, downtown Oregon City on a beautiful sunny winter day. I decided to not waste the day and headed over to Cypress for my Mango Martini and make a plan for the afternoon. The martini was excellent as usual, the place was doing a busy, packed lunch hour and i called a few people. No one took the bait. So I left and decided to walk up Main Street to 10^th and check out a second hand, furniture/​décor store I see all the time but never visited.
This N That. hmmmm. Well, that’s exactly what it was. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. But I started to notice that the prices were VERY reasonable. I wandered through and saw a few things i liked. The lady behind the counter was quick to give me a price on an unmarked item and then immediately tell me that she’d sell it even lower. SOLD! I wandered through looking at a variety of things. Many things that i would buy for THAT price but i just didn’t have anywhere for it. Everything is spaced out and displayed nicely, coordinated, quality, easily reached and viewed. I really enjoyed my visit. I ended up buying a set of 4 brandy snifters, a painted tin vase and one of those really big, tall, long stemmed wine glass looking things that can hold décor or candles or whatever. I’ve always wanted one but I couldn’t bring myself to pay $ 30 or higher for. So anyway, I got all of these things for only $ 18. I’m happy and I’ll be back.

So, everybody knows the story in Portland… you want some cool old furniture but you nearly choke on your lowfat chai nog latte when you look at the prices, right? So, you gather up the crew, hit the road and leave town. You can pretty much go in any direction out from Portland and chance upon some good finds.
My chance encounter came in a little store on Main St. in Oregon City. I was looking for an end table and a trunk or two and found that this store was packed with an assortment of styles. Most of it was antique style, as that probably sells out in that area. I did manage to find quite a few things I would have been interested in but just couldn’t get at the time. After talking to the storekeep, she admitted they keep the prices low so that they can move the merchandise and have good turnover. I was more than pleased with the prices and friendly service. I even found a nice little funky framed picture for my friend’s restaurant.
All in all, I will wander back from time to time to this little store and hope that it sticks around for a while. They were a random good find and I’m pleased I chanced upon it.
