Persnickety Prints

Wow wonderful wonderful site. I didn’t think things were going to end well since the prices were are so low. We ordered eight 12×12 photos for a project and they came out wonderful. The shipping is cheap too. The even wrote on the receipt it was packaged with love. I love working with people like that!

The ordering process and timeliness of my order was very good. The price for prints was also very reasonable.
However, the quality of the prints are pretty crappy. I’m assuming they printed my black & whites via color printer, because they have a rose tint to them. And while the photo paper is fine enough, the size is NOT 12×12. It’s millimeters larger and they don’t fit in my 12×12 frames without bubbling. It’ll be really difficult to trim them down, too, as paper cutters may bend the print if I try shaving off a few millimeters.
Will not use them again for prints. Will have to try to order another set of prints from another company instead, and spend the money twice on a job not well done.

I love their prints! I have placed a few orders and they always work very fast. For example, I placed an order Wednesday night and received my package Friday morning. And the one time I was not pleased with my order they replaced it right away. The app needs quite a bit of work, however. Definitely their wink link

Persnickety prints is the only place i trust with my memories. They print pictures and make them look like they should. They have such good customer service that they are always making sure that when i go in to pick up my prints that they are perfect and wont let me leave unsatisfied.

I placed the order at 4pm, and got an email in less than 3 hours that my order was already shipped!
I ordered 100 4×4 Instagram pics, plus 2 8x8s. Pretty fast! And the prints are packaged in such a way that they seem to definitely be safe from any issues that might occur during transit.
I also chose Persnickety because, after much research, they seemed to be the most affordable for what I was looking for :)

I’m not just a über foodie. Photography is another passion in my life. My major was photography and helped photography students at OCC photo lab (OCC is one of the best photo schools in this country). I tested and used various chemicals, films (both color and black&white — especially black&white) and papers. I processed both films and papers in the dark rooms day and night back then. They’re located in Utah, but I found them on google.
Despite of the recent popularity for square format digital photography (by iphone, hipstamatic, instagram etc.), it’s hard to find a professional printer that prints square format and does it well. Many photo apps offer the printing options, but they don’t always offer the professional grade printing quality (color reproduction and paper quality). One of my photo teachers (his speciality is color and digital photography) has a photo lab (
) — mostly for commercial, where they are capable of printing even a billboard size. I asked him to print my iphone pictures but he said 3×3 or 4×4 were too small for his printers. It wasn’t the first time for the rejection, which is kinda normal.
I tried «Hipsta» lab — it was ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ shots — some really good, some not. I also tried several professional printers locally before, but it was a pain in the ass (though the prints came out nicely) and I could do only small amounts. But this place makes the printing so easy! All you need to do is to connect to your instagram or upload your files to their site. They keep the files (free) on your account, so you don’t need to reload them if you decided to reprint them more.
From iphoto (Mac users — I’m not sure PC has it. I’m a Mac user) :
1) Download «Lifepics» (free) on their website.
2) Pick the images on iphoto
3) Choose File — Export on the top bar on your Mac
4) Sign in to your account (email and password of their site)
5) It’ll show you what you picked. So hit the «Export».
6) On their site, you pick the images, size, print type, and quantity.
7) Pay by credit card or paypal
8) They’ll ship it right away (literally)! $ 5 flat shipping rate and standard takes 2 days.
Their website is a bit confusing and mess. I wish they could make it more organized.
They’re a professional printer. They’re a very good one and guarantee the print quality. If you didn’t like it, you ship them back to them with the detailed reasons, and reprint for you (for free!) I didn’t like 30+ prints out of 140+, which wasn’t bad ratio from my past experience. They explained to me the differences on 3×3 matte card and 4×4 photo paper by email and reprinted them all for 4×4 (for free!). They’re unbelievable! Great customer service! I’m so happy with the photo paper quality — the colors are more intense, more details in the highlight, more contrasts than 3×3 matte card. Some of them tuned out a bit too dark, but big differences from the first time! They also print regular formats, but I only use iphone for my photography and heavy user of «hipstamatic». So my digital photography is square format. I have a DSLR, yet iphone and phone apps made me not even open the box ;p I shoot and edit only with iphone. How amazing what digital photography could offer.
Some tips:
Square format print size: 2×2 to 40×40. They even have a cool «polaroid» type printing and posters (making a collage).
Paper kinds: the standard is matte. They also have pearl and soft texture art for extra $. Glossy is not so forgiven and leave finger prints on print so easily, so it totally makes sense.
«Instagram Print»: You don’t need to use instagram — it just means «square format». It uses «card», not a photo paper. It’s a little thicker than photo paper. The printing quality isn’t bad, but less color reproduction capability compared to «Photographic Print». Some came out good — simpler images work better on this. Too contrasty or too light (soft contrast) images won’t work on this since you lose lots of contrast. It’s cool anyway.
«Photographic Print»: It uses a photo paper. It has a great quality, though I thought 4×4 was too big: smaller print size has a better resolution and crispier look than bigger print (unless you have a big file size to begin with). Since my file was dealt on iphone, the file size isn’t big (which means not so good resolution to start with). It turned out great! I might try 5×5 but I assume that would be the max.
Unhappy print: you need to contact them within 24 – 48 hours. They’ll reprint for you.

I’ve been a devoted user of Persnickety Prints for a while now. I use them for all prints in my etsy shop, our family photos, Christmas cards, etc. and no other place compares. The quality and clarity you get for the price is fantastic. We recently moved to Austin so now I have them ship prints and it’s a flat $ 5 rate no matter how many prints I order. They also ship incredibly fast.
Before our move, going into the store to pick up my prints was always a pleasant experience; nice people, cool vibe. On smaller orders like mine they were always ready within a few hours (or less) after I had placed my order.
The online ordering system has come a long way, and while it still needs some work, once you figure it out it’s fine. I love that I can upload my photos and have them stored FREE. I don’t need to upload the same photos over and over again when folks order prints.
I highly recommend this place. You won’t be disappointed in the print quality.

I LOVE THESE GUYS!!! Shipping only costs 5 bucks for I don’t know what the limit is!!! SO that is great! I ordered 18 prints last night and shipping was STILL 5 bucks. I am going to try to order like 25 prints (12×12) next time and see if it is still 5 bucks for shipping. PLUS the prints for 12×12 matte and/​or glossy is ONLY $ 1.99! REALLY? I could not believe it I want to go over to Costco and moon them and laugh at them now. Costco prints were always too dark anyway. These guys do lovely prints I am so happy!!!
So relieved to find them from a creative memories consultant (sssshhhhhh). But CM is going out of business anyway so maybe these guys will be the next one and better!!!
