In providing compassionate, quality care, I strive to establish relationships with my patients to ensure they feel comfortable seeing me for a wide range of gynecologic and obstetric issues. I believe that through patient education I can help women become active participants in their medical care and make informed decisions for their overall health.

Medical School: Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis

Residency: Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC

Special Interests: Abnormal uterine bleeding, laparoscopic/​minimally invasive surgery, infertility, fibroids, obstetrics, polycystic ovarian syndrome, contraception, adolescent gynecology.

I transferred to East bay medical foundation in the middle of my pregnancy and Dr. Cindy Zhang was amazing. She made me feel comfortable during my prenatal visits. She is a good listener and knows what she’s doing. I would recommend her to any one in search of an Ob doc.

I see Dr. Zhang in her beautiful Berkeley office and have nothing but great things to say about her and the practice. I met Dr. Zhang a few months before I became pregnant and have always felt that she takes as much time with me as needed to address all of my (copious) questions. Also, counter to what the reviewer below said, she takes my husband’s corny jokes in stride and is always available for his questions too. I also appreciate how quick she is to respond to my email queries.

I don’t know what’s up with grouchy McGregor down there that gave Dr. Zhang a one star.
I told the practice up front that I would be moving to be closer to family which you would assume might put a damper on their customer service. Not the case with Dr. Zhang. Not only was she extremely supportive, informational, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive to my needs, she was kind and always asked a genuine how are you after saying nice to see you.
All results came in faster than the estimate, all with a personal staff assessment. All my emails written to the the practice were returned the same day. I even received emails from Dr. Zhang on off hours.
I was alone in doing all of this and they made me feel safe and reassured through the whole process. Thanks!!!

Dr. Zhang is great! She’s pleasant, patient, well-​informed, and provided several options for me. At my previous appointment I ran late and she waited for me during her lunch hour. This is exceptional service! I highly recommend Dr. Zhang.

My wife had the second medical appointment of her pregnancy with Dr. Zhang. We were left with the overall impression that she was disinterested in both of us and was eager to get through the appointment. Perhaps my wife’s pregnancy isn’t complicated enough for her elite university training and she would have preferred to funnel us to some less deserving colleague.
She was condescending, scowled at me when I made a corny joke (these appointments are nerve racking — they are about our child!), and very rough with the transvaginal ultrasound — on top of this, she was not able to get as clear an image as the nurse practitioner we met with a few weeks prior.
Lastly, she was off in the timing of when blood work should be done — we went to the lab to get blood drawn, and the lab (after consulting with a doctor and nurse) said that we shouldn’t get these tests done for another few weeks.
Hopefully she’ll learn a little humility as she gains more experience. In the meantime, if you’re going through some process as boring as a normal pregnancy, I’d look elsewhere.

Saw her today at the Berkeley location and she was really great. She listened and answered all my questions. It was the first Dr.‘s appointment I’ve had in a long time that didn’t feel rushed at all.
