I have nothing but praise for Erick and the rest of his team. We have a decent size property with about a dozen large Monterey pine trees, with many of them over 100 feet tall. With the drought combined with a predicted upcoming wet season, we wanted a professional evaluation of the health of the trees and reasonable ways to reduce risk of any property and (especially) bodily damage. Romans came highly recommended by the owner of our yard service company (also a local business) and I was impressed with his thorough walk through our property and detailed quote. After having 2 other reputable companies come out and give us formal quotes, we were leaning towards Romans but didn’t want to perform all of the potential work that was recommended. After speaking to Erick again, he came out a second time and came up with a reasonable plan to take care of the biggest risks (a very large pine that became lopsided over decades of south-​facing sun as well as a smaller tree near our driveway that we showing signs of stress) while leaving the less risky trees alone. Erick also worked with our budget to make what began as a huge project more manageable so we signed on.
The crew arrived promptly on the planned day and worked diligently and overall quite carefully to minimize damage to my landscaping and other plants. The cutting-​down work was completed in a day and a half and they returned the next week to grind down the stumps. I asked them to leave some mulch behind and they overdid it, leaving me a truckload. After lots of some sweat on my part, I realized that I still had way too much mulch left over for my needs (and a message out to the neighborhood didn’t find any takers for free mulch) so I mentioned the issue to Erick and he very graciously sent out a truck to pick up the leftover mulch that we didn’t need.
In summary, I was very impressed with Erick’s knowledge & professionalism and the upstanding way that he runs his business. I highly recommend his company.

We used Roman’s for Monterey pine removal (3 trees) as well as oak tree pruning. Franklin came and did the walk through and provided the quote. We looked at others but chose Roman’s and we were thrilled.

We just had all our trees trimmed and thinned at our home in Danville. I got four quotes. Davey’s, Rick’s, TreeWise, and Roman’s. Eric came out and did a complete walk through, took good notes and got us a quote quickly. They were the best priced out of all of them for the work we asked for and were willing to provide some value add on our redwoods that weren’t part of the original project. They were out here the week after we got the estimate. They were very thorough and truly did a great job on shaping all our trees, which include a chinese pistache in the front yard on the street. It looks beautiful.

I have used Romans for several years, based on the recommendation of a neighbor. They do excellent work and are very moderately priced. They know their trees and won’t recommend cutting trees and bushes at the wrong time of the year. I won’t actually trust anyone else with the trees on my property.
If that isn’t enough, they are incredibly polite and easy to work with. They clean up after the work is done to the point that you’re not sure they were even there, except for the pruned trees. Fabulous company and hard working employees.

I used Roman’s Tree Service to thin out some very big Yucca trees. First of all, their quote was half of what another tree service quoted me which right away made me like them. When they arrived at my home they were punctual, organized and very concerned about the quality of their work and did an excellent job on my trees. Nelzon, the field representative, didn’t mind helping me out with another tree that needed trimming back and gladly did this job at a very, very minimal price. Roman’s will definitely be my go to Tree Service in the future fall months when I have to prune my fruit trees and my fruitless Mulberry. Can’t say enough good about them.

We had a large 75 year old, Monterey pine that was basically on its last limbs. We called Roman’s Tree Service, and three other companies. Roman’s quotes came in mid range of all the others, so based on their timely response and the fact that they are insured and bonded, we went with Romans. They completed the huge job in one day, hauled the debris and the area was clean when they left. Our field rep was Nelzon Catellanos, great to work with, no sales pitch, no pressure and to the point.

We had a very large oak tree to remove, and another to prune. Eric and his team did an excellent job. They were all very competent, professional, personable, and meticulous in their work and clean up. Would recommend without hesitation!

I need to start by saying that I did not use Romans Tree Service, so my rating is based on why I didn’t use them.
My realtor recommended Romans Tree Service when I closed on a house. I wanted to address several large oaks on the property for fire safety, as they were encroaching on the house.
I thought Romans was extremely professional and knowledgeable when they came to provide a quote.
I would’ve moved forward with doing business with them, but decided it’d be prudent to obtain another quote.
So, I called another local business (that is licensed with workers comp and had certified arborist who came out to assess the oaks and provide the bid). The bid came in at ¼ of the proposed price of Romans, for the exact same work. And, this is without my telling this company that I had already obtained a bid (and as such I didn’t disclose what Romans bid was for the work either).
While I thought I was going to go with Romans, I’m glad I shopped as I saved a ton of money that I can use for other landscaping or even two plane tickets to Europe, etc!

These guys are a class act! From the estimate to the job to the cleanup — the staff were very professional. We had a 50 foot Monterey Pine removed and were a little nervous about the operation. However, Franklin’s team did a tremendous job and handled it without a problem. They even cut up some of the wood for my neighbors. Highly recommend.

I had this neighbor once who cut down all his trees and his yard was all stumps. It was not very feng shui but he never got a text while at work asking him if he knew a tree was down in his yard. A big tree. That happened to me last week. I immediately called Roman’s tree service. They were responsive, sympathetic to the fact that it was an emergency (no damage but the neighbors weren’t talking to me), and got the tree removed quickly. They even emptied my green waste bin. Besides their speedy service, I have to say they are very clean. They are like ninjas. You would never know that there was a tree down or any debris– really good clean up. The neighbors still aren’t talking to me but if they ever ask me who to use for tree service, I will direct them to Roman’s.

Professional, excellent tree trimming, provided recommendations and really listened to my concerns about my trees.

They have amazing group of people… very nice and quick.
The price was very reasonable.

These Guys are the best! They have done several jobs for us and they do clean, professional work! I would recommend them to anyone who wants a first class job.

SUPER happy with Erick and his crew! We needed to have a tall (approximately 80′) pine tree removed that was leaning over our house. They were referred to us by a family friend and certainly endorsed here on Unilocal.
We solicited 3 bids (actually 4, but one company felt the tree was too tall for them to handle). Roman’s quote was very reasonable and quite competitive. Since they were referred, we chose them to do the work. We were not disappointed.
They showed up on time and went about their work efficiently. The crew was conscientious of our property and took great care not to damage the surrounding landscaping. They worked hard and seemed to enjoy their craft.
In the end, they left our home spotless! They raked, blew away the sawdust and cleaned everything up leaving the place like they found it ~ except for removing the tree they came for ;-).
We give Roman’s our highest recommendation!

Roman’s tree service has done several jobs for me. They are safe, efficient, fare priced and on time. I have recommended them to other friends and family members. They came recommended to me by a close friend who owns a Landscape Design firm and I am grateful for that referral! You will be too.

We found Roman‘s via a recommendation of an Oakland neighbor, and have used them several times since. A few of our neighbors have used them as well. The estimates are professionally done, the cost is reasonable, and the work is done on time and finished on schedule.

We had great success with Roman’s Tree Service in the past when they removed an old pine tree for us. We decided to use them again, this time to trim an overgrown, mature Dutch Elm tree in our backyard. Erick Roman, a very professional arborist, came out to size up the job and to provide us with a very reasonable estimate. His crew came out a couple of weeks later to do the day-​long job. His main tree cutter, Jose, did a marvelous job of trimming and shaping our tree. His clean-​up crew also did a wonderful job of picking up and cleaning our yard after the job was done. I found their entire crew to be courteous, professional, and hardworking.
Our backyard looks so «open» now with abundant sunlight streaming through the less dense Dutch Elm. Our yard and deck are now so bright, and our dog also loves the openness to lounge around the yard. We are truly impressed with Roman’s Tree Service!

My wife and I moved into our new house several months ago and included with the house was a very large yard and many mature trees. It was that time of the year to have the trees trimmed so we checked out Unilocal and there were 3 Tree trimming companies that stood out from all others. After getting estimates from all three companies we decided on Romans.
Well this past Friday they arrived at our house at that the scheduled time and Eric Roman (who gave us the estimate) also came out to lay out the work for the crews. We had about 9 mature trees trimmed and a VERY large (and long) hedge brought under control. What a fantastic job Roman Tree company did. They were VERY professional and I could not believe how clean the yard was when they left. When we met Eric Roman I told him that we were looking for a tree trimming company that will be trimming our trees year after year. We will definitely be hiring Romans next year.

Erick was on time for the estimate appointment and gave us better pricing than two of their leading competitors. We wanted to keep the mulch, so that helped with the pricing.
It took a couple of phone calls to get the appointment but America (the woman who does the scheduling) got us IN!
Erick made us feel comfortable during the estimate and on the day of the job, as he is friendly, funny and most importantly professional. He supervised the workers during the whole 4 – 5 hours! All the guys were friendly, professional and work efficiently.
We had (5) trees cut: Chinese Tallow 80ft stump removed; trimmed Redwood; cut down another redwood, cut down Black Walnut, trimmed branch of old Oak tree. All items done to perfection! No issues whatsoever! Everything went way above our expectations!
The team cleaned up nicely. We have a pond and they even skimmed out the pond, which surprisingly, they didn’t get much in it! Erick had us inspect everything once the job was done. We were soooo pleased!!!
Our neighbors poked their head over the fence and wanted some mulch, so Erick also helped them out too! Our other neighbor now wants Ericks number!
We’ve used the other leading company before, who were also very professional, but the truth is that we thought the quality of Roman’s Tree Service was better as well as pricing.
We would not hesitate to use them again and we will recommend Roman’s to our friends and family!
