Specialties
I specialize in working with attachment issues as well as trauma related issues. Attachment issues show up when we find ourselves acting in ways unbecoming of who we know we truly are. Trauma impacts us similarly. Often times poor attachment relationships and or traumatic or chronically overwhelming experiences cause people longstanding anxiety or depression. I specialize in an attachment oriented modality called AEDP (Accelerated, Experiential, Dynamic, Psychotherapy) which is fast becoming an internationally recognized form of psychotherapy. I have also studied and received training and consultation in other forms of body and affect oriented psychotherapy including but not limited to Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, Somatic Experiencing, and Hakomi.
History
Established in 2010.
I have been working as counselor since 1997 and as a masters degree intern therapist since 2010.
I weave into my work, 18 years of experience in wilderness adventure therapy, rock/mountain guiding, leadership, counseling, and family services. I have worked at two major therapeutic wilderness and therapeutic residential programs as well as a local private day school. Between 2007 and 2011 I was the director of services at Crossroads Residential Care, a home for transition aged youth coping with major mental health issues. From 2011 – 2014 I was the in-school counselor at Orinda Academy.

Hello and welcome to my Yelp page. I am located in the East Bay in the La Morinda area and serve the Orinda, Lafayette, Moraga, Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley, and San Francisco communities. My approach is collaborative, warm, compassionate, honest, and intuitive. I focus as much on your strengths as I might your struggles. I value both long term therapy as well as short-term therapy directed towards accomplishing immediate goals in your personal and professional life. As research has proven the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for any successful therapy.
