Animal Medical Center

I was happy with the care my dogs received here until one of my dogs recently passed away. I was out of town at the time and had to have my nephew bring the dog there on a Friday afternoon. I called and they explained they could hold him until we returned on Monday and I could take care of everything then and we could say our goodbyes if we wished. Thought that was wonderful until I arrived on that dreadful Monday to a very unsympathetic girl who never even said «sorry», didn’t offer me to see him and when I asked for his collar and tags she came back and told me they had been thrown out!!! I said, «why would you throw it out?!» She said, «we didn’t know you wanted them. No one told us to hold them». I responded «I didn’t think I had to seeing that you were holding the dog until we could get here. Why would I think to say I wanted them knowing you weren’t doing anything with the dog until we got there on Monday!!» How completely insensitive!!! Especially for an animal hospital. I would think 9 out of 10 people want to keep their pet’s collar and tags when they pass. My children were devastated. Barely got a sorry from the girl. Very unprofessional and insensitive. Will be finding another vet for my other dog and any future pets.

Absolutely love taking my animals here. The building is very clean and seems to be recently remodeled. Just wish the seating arrangements were more abundant and more comfortable. The staff is friendly to my animals and I. The doctors are very through with what is wrong with your pet/​how to make things better or if they are in great health for a checkup. It can tend to be a little pricy, but I am willing to pay for the service to help my pets and to never again go to the animal shelter in Chicago Ridge. I am so glad to find this medical center and will bring all my future pets here.

The veterinarians are wonderful, I have 4 pets and I think I’ve dealt with 3 different vets there and each have been really great to me and all my animals. I will continue coming here for them and them only.
The receptionists need a little crash course in customer service — maybe 1 or 2 of them (the younger ones) are actually kind, but unfortunately the rest are not so nice. I caught 2 of them openly having a disagreement in front of customers. They don’t always look you in the eye when talking directly to you nor do they throw smiles your way as if they are somewhat happy to be of service to you.

I switched to this practice after having to leave a very good one in Tinley that I found to be too cramped, noisy, and having inconvenient hours with longer appointment scheduling windows. I have been very pleased with AMC ever since. The waiting room is spacious so you can separate your dog from others in the waiting area, which is super-​important if you have a nervous guy like mine. When I call to make an appointment, they can usually see me right away or a couple of hours later at the most — I don’t have to keep trying for different days of the week, and they don’t close randomly in the afternoon like my former practice did.
After a couple of less-​than-​pleasant experiences with pet sitters, I reluctantly boarded two of my dogs there during a recent two-​week vacation. I was very concerned that my guys would be upset and worried that they were not at home but, when I picked them up, they couldn’t have been happier! I could tell that they had received a lot of love and attention. I will bring all my pets here-​even the cat– from now on.

I have been going to this place for over 20 years. It is really changing over time and not for the better. I walked in there last week got info and paperwork to have teeth cleaning done on my daughters dog. I set up her apt after they found her file and wrote all the info regarding the upcoming dental visit the following week. The only thing they told me to do is bring in a copy of the dogs records regarding her rabbits vaccinations which were done by my daughter in Oregon. The day of the dental apt I called and asked where the dog fell in line for the surgery because I did not want her to go too early in case she was later in the day. They told me there were 2 in front of her and I said ok. Then I mentioned that I wasn’t sure if I was suppose to feed her because none of the paper work they gave me addressed that issue nor did anyone say I shouldn’t. She said what time did I feed her and I told her about 6:15 this morning and she said the surgery would have to be rescheduled for two reasons first they tried to call me but «I «gave them the wrong phone number and they could not find a file on her which they had no problem doing when I was in there the week before. The girl on the phone acted like I gave them the wrong phone number duh why would I do that first of all but when they said they couldn’t find a file on her that was it. I have had several issues with the docs giving seriously wrong diagnoses giving absolutely the wrong advice on how much food they dogs should be eating daily and several other issues, I am so done. I told her to get there crap together and she cut me off saying have a nice day and hung up. Ok animal medical center I wil, have a nice day and will find a much safer place to take my pets from now on.

The place is all about the money trying to get me to get ALL kinds of shots for my dog when only rabies is required by law. I do not have to get the others and It’s my choice. Then they try to persuade you otherwise. I have studied over the last 10 years the bads about vaccines and they don;t even protect your pets. They cause more damage in the long run and booster shots are NEVER necessary unless required by law. The only reason they do boosters is because they can;t be sure the animal is actually immunized so what does that tell you. Another problem is the Doctor forget to check my cats ears an when I got home her one ear was itchy and when i looked inside it was all brown. I had to drive another 45mins each way to bring her back and they had the nerve to charge me another $ 53 for an office exam? WHY? I already paid and was inconvenienced because the Dr missed looking into the ear. It was just dirt he said and told me how to clean it. Really I cam all the way back and you can;t even clean it quickly? I would not recommend this place plus the receptionists are rude.

I have taken my 3 dogs to this center for over 15 years. I must start by saying that the doctors here are great; if you can withstand the completely unprofessional front desk receptionists. They really are about the WORST receptionists I have encountered at ANY medical office. I have had countless problems with them (too many to list!). They’ve given me the wrong prescriptions, messed up paperwork and even given me the wrong county tags for my dogs. They are never apologetic about their mistakes, and have complete attitude (including slamming down paperwork on the desk when a request to correct their mistake is made!). It’s becoming more and more clear most of them are not trained well in how to deal with the public at all! If the doctors were not so great, I would without doubt find a new place to take my dogs. I’d give the doctors five stars if I could. But the desk help? not even one star!
