Neat Repeats Resale

Since this store benefits the Crisis Center — South Suburbs — what better way to contribute to victims of domestic violence than to donate and/​or shop at Neat Repeats? Kudos to those who volunteer here, and for the worthy cause that Neat Repeats supports.

I had my newborn with me and the ladies loved him. He’s definitely a lady’s man. The store is a tad overpriced but there are 50% sales all the time which makes it more reasonable. They carried higher end stuff that the other thrift stores in the area do not always have. It is cleaner than a lot of the larger thrift stores.

As a self-​proclaimed «Thrift Queen,» this store is on the bottom of my Thrift Quality Scale.
Neat Repeats in Orland Park is a very small thrift store located in a strip mall on 159^th Street. It is ran by volunteers (generally older, retired women), who can be really friendly at times, but I guess it depends on who is there. I have to admit, I have felt uncomfortable with a couple of staff «attitudes.»
The prices are generally higher than most thrift stores and the items are generally not on the current trend, and not always in pristine (resale) condition. The shoe selection is very 80’s… The women’s dresses are mostly «formal wear rejects…» The juniors selection is almost non-​existent… The children’s items seem in peeling and poor condition… And, the men’s section reminds me of an old «estate sale.» Honestly, I have found some of my greatest deals here in the small home goods section. This store also runs «daily specials.» The white board next to the front door indicates which department is on sale or if there is a 50% off the entire store special.
On the upside… This store is very clean. This store is well-​organized by department. And, this store benefits a shelter.
In my opinion, this is not the greatest for thrift finds. If you are not a «regular thriftier,» this may turn you off to the «thrifting game.» However, as I always say, «You never know when today is your lucky day in a thrift store!» So, I typically stop by this store at least once per month.
Oh, by the way, there is no public restroom here.

Not the best resale shop in the area, items mostly overpriced. If you shop
resale stores often, the lack of items being displayed by size is very annoying.
You can waste a lot of time trying to find something in the size you are looking for.
Since the proceeds go to a good cause, I do shop here occasionally.
The volunteer staff is hit or miss. Some of the ladies are very pleasant
while others are downright rude. Recently one of the staff was questioning
a teenage girl like she was a criminal because the girl was just standing by a rack. The girl was waiting for her grandmother who was in the dressing room. Why the staff member thought this young lady was suspicious, I have no idea, but it’s just one more thing that will keep me from shopping there more often.

I love this shop in Worth. Every time I’m cleaning out my closets and cabinets, I donate to them. The staff are so friendly and if you have several pieces, they will help you to get them out of the car. It is clean and reasonable. When I donate, I usually walk around and find something– book or something. I have gotten so many friends to donate their items, too. You have to learn to lend a helping hand and thank God you are fortunate to be able to donate.

Neat Repeats is a resale shop that gives all of its proceeds to battered women shelters! Their stores are clean, color coordinated and organized. This Orland store has a small selection of junior wear. They have daily sales on many items. I have found designer stuff for a very small price. However, like every resale shop, it’s hit or miss some days.

I shop at all the area thrift stores and was excited to check out Neat Repeats. I brought my daughters in with me who are 6 and 3 and very well behaved. They sat down near the children’s section and started looking through books quietly while I shopped within sight distance of them. A staffer looked at my girls and then loudly said to them (scaring them) WHERE IS YOUR MOTHER? And I was right behind her when I tapped her on the shoulder and said, «I’m right here. May I help you?» and she berated me and said, «You have to watch your children!» and I said to her «I am watching them. I’m right here and I was here all along. You didn’t see me. Are they doing something that is upsetting you?» and then she said they aren’t allowed to play with the toys. Well, Lady, if my kids can’t touch your toys, I won’t be buying them from you… or anything else for that matter. Terrible attitudes. Terrible staff… and from another review on here about the staff acting horribly this should confirm it for some of you. I highly recommend other area thrift stores. This is the only one I’ve ever had a problem with. They should be ashamed for treating customers like this.

Know the store well and the location in Worth. Clean, well displayed, organized, usually fairly priced, lots of sales, etc. Merchandise is clean, dusted, sized, etc. Volunteers are lovely ladies. I’ve walked out happy very many times.
Unfortunately, an incident so enraged me, I could not respond or complain. One day I was in there shopping. Cindy (?) knows me. What she doesn’t know is my hearing is excellent. She asked a volunteer where I was. The volunteer responded, «She’s looking at the pictures.» Cindy proceeded to take the volunteer behind a display and tell a horrendous story about me. She had heard the story from someone else.
What Cindy did NOT know is I could hear every word she said. Additionally, other customers heard every word she said.
Cindy had no first hand knowledge of the story. She heard it from someone else.
ADDITIONALLY, Cindy does not know there is another woman in the area with my name. It is interesting since I do not have a common name.
I quietly listened as I browsed through the pictures. The story was vicious. This little discussion between Cindy and the volunteer went on for over 2 minutes – heard by me, the cashier, customers at the register, other customers on the same side of the display as myself.
Here I was being viciously ripped in a store where most everyone (except those in the far off corners of the store) was hearing about me. I crept behind the display and saw Cindy pointing in my direction.
How DARE she? Just because someone tells you something does not make the story true. Cindy wasn’t there. Who is she to rip me apart in public for everyone to hear and know she meant me.
This woman is a manager or supervisor? She needs to read Dale Carnegie’s book, HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE.
Big mouths such as Cindy’s have a way of destroying lives, self-​esteem and self-​worth.
I said nothing and left the store. I thought long and hard about this posting. It has been more than a year since this incident. I reflected carefully. I just want Neat Repeats to know the character and integrity of its workers.

Hmm, not exactly my cup of tea, but it’s still a cute shop.
The first thing I noticed as I walked in the shop was that I was the youngest customer there. Second, relative to the first, there were more items geared towards older women than a girl in her early 20s. I already started feeling discouraged as I browsed through the first few racks, but I managed to find a nice, 100% silk wrap-​around dress. I saw the price tag and it was $ 8. Really wasn’t worth $ 8 to me, but I noticed the little board by the register and saw that everything was 50% off so I took it. Some things were pretty pricey for what they were and others were fairly priced.
They don’t have much in the ways of a Junior section. Just a bunch of random tops. There were a few good looking shoes, but not many that justified their prices for me.
Also, the ladies working there were very nice and helpful.

This is not my traditional idea of a thrift store but that’s ok. The merchandise leans more towards generic department stores and overpriced formal gowns. I really did not have time to browse the whole store thouroughly but most of the prices were leaning towards high for a ‘resale’ store.
Daily sales make the prices more reasonable, looked as if they have some sale every day and the customers who appeared to be regulars seemed to know the days to come.
Some prices were outrageous, like $ 120 for knock-​off designer purses but I guess someone may be ok paying that. Not me but someone, else.
Bottom line: I found a lovely chunky blue stone necklace that looks to be lapis but I really don’t know for sure for 20 bucks. Again, a little out of my price range but the piece is pretty awesome and totally worth it. The women working were really nice and more than helpful. Super sweet, I like that.
I’ll keep checking in to get the scoop on their sales and hopefully score more than one item at a time.
