Ascension Tattoo

Only place in Orlando id go for my ink. I personally get my work done by Zac, who is beyond amazing. However I’ve seen work by every artist there and they are all talented. Clean shop and good vibes.

I don’t leave many reviews, but I felt I had to give a shout out here. My wife and I decided to go to Orlando for our honeymoon. I’ve been wanting a new tat for awhile so I decided to ask around and was lead here. I ended up digging Justin’s portfolio (aka uncle trashcan) because I’m on my honeymoon I couldn’t wait a long time, and he was awesome and get me in. It’s the best tattoo I have, he was super quick for how much work he got done, very professional and just an overall cool dude. The shop as a whole had a good vibe to it, no stress. If your in the area and want some good work done definitely check this place out, you won’t be sorry.

Not overly impressed with this place, which was disappointing after so many reviews of it being so great. I’m in the military and have gotten ALOT of ink at many shops, by many artists, so I have somewhat of a base to go off of. Called a few times to make an appt with someone for a significant American Traditional full back piece and had a hard time getting someone to commit to a time to come in for a consult, when I decided to finally walk-​in to get a small piece (to test the place to see if I wanted to come back) and just talk to an artist, nobody seemed too interested to consult (again, on a FULL back piece! Blank canvas! Who wouldn’t want to do that?!?), which was disappointing. I did end up walking out with some nice ink on my forearm but it was done by a guest artist (who frickin rocks!) that had a free 45 min. I generally get some small random thing just to see if the shop is a place I’d like to go back to and I won’t go back. You gotta get a good vibe so those vibes go into some awesome ink on your bod! Yeah, I didn’t get that vibe from this place.
On a different note. The shop was über clean and I did notice the stations each had their own artists style which I think is key since the artist personality goes into your skin. The cool chick (I think named Rebecca?) at the desk was badass and friendly…

For all the people who get tats here and don’t give a shout out to their artists on Unilocal… lame!
After doing quite a bit of researching, talking to people in Orlando, and looking at online portfolios I decided to see if Nik could fit me in at some point. It was my first tattoo and I was looking at a fairly large memorial piece. I went to the shop and he just so happened to be there and we set something up. I also wanted to meet him in person first because I am stuck in someone’s chair for an hour plus, whether it be my hair dealer, my nail dealer, or my ink dealer the person better be cool to and someone I can feel like I trust to the degree that I will leave happy (and not in pain… or with an Afro… or with a finger chopped off… etc) That being said he worked with my design idea, steered me clear of what wouldn’t look good, put up with me when I nearly blacked out from getting my nerves in a bunch, and put up with me for four hours while he did his art and listened to me yammer on about assorted b.s. When he was done I really couldn’t believe how awesome it came out… like so beautiful I wanted to cry right there. I’ve only had the tat a short time and I get stopped on the street by people wanting to know who did the work. I also have not had any kind of complications afterward either. So yeah, when I get another tat, which of course is only a matter of time, I know who I will go see, no question.
Word to the wise. don’t just walk in and expect someone to jump right to it for you. All of the dudes in here do awesome work and that means that they are booked well in advance. Not to mention, if you are working with someone over a period of time make the effort to know their name.

I want to begin by stating that I do not consider myself a tattoo «connoisseur» by any means. However, Ascension stands out above any other tattoo shop in the Orlando area.
This might be a little obvious, but if you are thinking about getting a tattoo, definitely spend the time to do some «research.» The term «research» might be loosely thrown around, but do this favor for yourself — do not look only at the art, but take a look at the shop and artists as well (this is probably why you’re on Unilocal). With that being said, Ascension has a well-​designed and very professional website. This should be one of the many indicators that a shop takes this type of work seriously.
The shop itself is by far one of the most eclectic tattoo shops I’ve seen. Firstly, there aren’t panels and hanging frames of flash — again, another indicator that the artists working there are passionate about tattoos being an art rather than a business. Very well put together shop.
The couple of times that I was at the shop, I had the opportunity to see some of the ongoing work being done by the various artists there. Really skilled group of guys. I have a decent-​sized chest piece done by Ant. His work is amazing, but again, do the research and take a look at each artist’s digital portfolio that is available on the website. In addition, every artists that I’ve interacted with was super friendly.
Extremely happy so far with the work; I’m due to go back to the shop to get the chest piece finished, but I will definitely continue to get my tattoos from Ascension for as long as I am here in Orlando.

Had quite a large tattoo done over a years time. Sorry to say that Nick or Natas was was artist. The idea was there but sadly, he was too lazy to finish it. I would suggest using another artist if you want something that doesn’t need to be finished by someone else.

This shop is amazing! Ant is my artist, but all of the guys in there do beautiful work! The shop is clean, well taken care of, and you really get custom work when you walk in the door; not some off the wall flash. If you dream it up, they can tat it up! They specialize in Color, New School, Fine Line, Black & Grey, Portraits, Tribal, Oriental, Spiritual, and pretty much anything you can think of! Go now! Whatcha waiting for?!
