I’ve seen this place be here for a while now and I though they would have some good burgers. Now that I’ve been there I can differ. Their speed of service is ok. Not really the friendliest staff around but not bad. The food in my thought wasn’t any good. I had the bacon blue burger as I am a blue cheese fanatic, the only problem was that was the only thing I could taste. The burgers had no flavor at all, the put turkey bacon on instead of real pork bacon really tho not cool. The grilled onions were frozen cold and one again with no flavor. I will not be eating here anytime soon again thanks.

Shopping for Christmas gifts two days before Christmas is hectic. That is a given. So when I shop, I try to stay away from the shopping malls. I finished my Christmas shopping at Colonial Plaza Marketplace, and with lunch hour in session, you know that can be as hectic as well. Just finding a place with an available table is like finding that toy your child wants but is no where to be found. With Fashion Square Mall parking full, I decided to go to a restaurant on East Colonial that I have not been to. Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries was nearby, so I decided to give it a try since I have not been there. As you have read in other reviews, you build your own burger. For burgers, you select your bun(white or wheat), and then the cheese, toppings, and sauces. Burgers are cooked medium-well. There are also signature burgers that you can order. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger with lettuce and tomato. After placing your order, you are given a number sign to put on your table. Your meal is then brought to your table, unlike a fast food restaurant in which everything is given to you at the counter. There are two burgers on the signature burgers. And with the large order of french fries, I was full and satisfied with my meal. Your meal is cooked to order, so the burger and fries came out hot. And the BBQ sauce did not overpower the taste of the burger and toppings. The soda machine is a Coca-Cola Free Style machine, so you can select your soda and any flavors you may want(vanilla, cherry, etc…). Just be careful with that first bite, since the burgers are served hot! As I said, I was really happy with my meal. It was filling, and kept me going until dinner time. And the service staff was friendly when taking my order and delivering my order to my table. As I said, the stores were busy, and I came in shortly after lunchtime. The tables in the dining room area were clean, but I noticed that the floors were in need of sweeping. Especially under the tables. And the first table I sat at was very wobbly. I moved to a more level table. The restrooms were clean, as well as the grill area. As for the price, it is expensive. For the BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger, large fries, and a large soda. the total came up to $ 13.17. The burger and fries were good, but for the price, I wish I could have the burger cooked the way I like it. I would love to find a place that cooks burgers medium-rare. I would most likely go here again, but not often. There is outside seating, and there are televisions throughout the dining room. Chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, hot dogs, and a salad are also available, along with milkshakes made from Edy’s Ice Cream. For Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries, I would go here once in awhile to treat myself. As for the toy I could not find…

Meh, nothing fabulous about this place. Burgers ok, fries ok. Lots of tv’s to watch and good 80’s music overhead, but dark inside.(Lights were not on, hard to see my food)

My 1st time here. Expensive. Fries are really good. A small is just the right size. My 11yo son got a dbl with cheese & bacon. It was huge. I got a single on wheat. It was big. My bun wasn’t soft. 2 burgers, 2 small fries &2 small drinks=$ 23. LOVE the soda machine. I had raspberry diet coke & cherry vanilla diet coke! They had turkey burger, black bean & veggie burger options too. Edy’s ice cream shakes. Overall not a bad place. Did I mention expensive? You can eat in or outside. For 11 am they were fairly busy. Service was eh. None if the employees gave off a happy vibe.

Fries were ok. Soda machine lets you mix different flavors of soda. Those were the good things. Floor feels greasy and slick. Place smells dirty. For a hamburger they let you custom build it would be nice if it didn’t come out overcooked, dry and tasteless. I will not be back. Suggest you skip this place.

The good: Burgers are made fresh. My BBQ burger was good. Place was clean. Ok staff. The bad: EXPENSIVE. My wife’s Blu cheese Burger was over powered by the cheese. I will stick to my FIVEGUYS. :/

I have wanted to try this place for a while and it was a complete let down. I had to wait over a minute at the counter before even one of the three employees verbally acknowledged me. One looked at me then walked into the back without saying a word. I finally ordered a double burger with american cheese, bacon, grilled onions, mushrooms and chipotle sauce. I added small(regular) fries and a small drink and it doubled the cost of my order. For fries to cost $ 3 they had better be something special. They weren’t. They had no seasoning on them at all, not even salt. They give you a lot of fries. I wish I had the option for a half portion for $ 1.50 or so. The burger itself was okay. Again nothing really stood bacon was out. The chipotle sauce was very generic and while I could see it on the burger it did not have much flavor. The patties tasted like they jus threw them on the grill with no seasoning The bacon is chewy and not very crisp which I personally am not a fan of. The mushrooms are right out of a can, maybe they throw them on the grill for a bit but not at all what I was expecting. Finally the atmosphere leaves a lot to e desired. I went in the evening and it was very dim. I thought half of the lights were turned off but there was no pattern — they were all burnt out. I felt like I was eating in the dark.

Do you ever remember hanging out at the local shopping mall and hitting the Boardwalk Fries stand for a cup o’ fries? Sadly, Boardwalk Fries are no longer in the mall. But lucky for us, they have started to pop up around the country as a newly branded Boardwalk Burgers and Fries restaurant serving those famous fries again. I was so happy when Chad found this place in Orlando– the only one in the state of Florida. Though they serve beef burgers, turkey burgers and chicken burgers, they also have a black bean burger on the menu. Basically, order the patty of choice and dress it up however you like. I went for the black bean burger with Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions and a chipotle sauce. I don’t know if it was the sauce or the black bean patty but it had a kick. A good one. I loved that the burger had whole black beans in it as opposed to mashed up beans mixed into the other ingredients. Chad ordered his with blue cheese and jalapeño peppers on a wheat bun. We both really enjoyed the burgers. For me the star of the meal was the world famous fries. Of course, in my opinion the only way to eat fries is to enjoy them with Malt Vinegar and Old Bay Seasoning– just like they do on the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland. All the tables had baskets of condiments on them, including a shaker with the Old Bay Seasoning and a bottle of vinegar. The fries are hand cut with the skin on and cooked in peanut oil. WOW– delicious. Just like the old days of hanging out at the mall. Boardwalk Burgers and Fries would probably qualify to be categorized as a fast food joint but at least they had a veggie burger. Though we have had better veggie burgers, I am not sure if there are many places that can make fries that measure up to the fries at Boardwalk. 3 ½ sprouts out of 5 only because it is just a burger and fries kind of place. Not exactly the healthiest place in the world. The only choice for a vegetarian is the spicy black bean burger. But we did love the fries.

Burgers are pretty good. Fries are awesome with that old bat seasoning stuff you can put on them. A little pricey for a burger place that doesn’t let me decide how pink i want my burger to be. I wouldn’t be opposed to going back there for a Burger, but there are better places, I did expect a little better.

Tried this place because we were going to go shopping at Fashion Square. I wish I had gone to the food court instead. There were only maybe 4 tables of people in the restaurant, but every single table was dirty and we could not find one ketchup bottle that actually had ketchup in it. Obviously, cleanliness and keeping their condiments refilled are not at the top of the list. I had a cheeseburger with mushrooms. Since this place specializes in burgers, I was expecting an amazing burger. It had absolutely no flavor or seasoning. To top it off, the fries are ordered and priced ala carte. I think they start at $ 1.99 and go up to $ 3.99 or $ 4.99 for a large. Seriously? $ 1.99 extra for fries was a bit ridiculous. The fries were also undercooked so they were soggy. Like I said before, I should have gone to the food court. If the food is not going to be good, it should at least be cheap. I won’t be going back to this place.

sad. burger was good, nothing exciting. Fries are a joke. soft and mushy. big super duper soda fountain. patio overlooking a highway/parking lot of HH Gregg. they have funnel cakes on the menu but judging by the fries that might be a disaster.

So underwhelming =( I was soooo in the mood for a burger and I kept driving by this location, seeing mixed reviews and hoping it would satisfy my craving. The staff was very friendly and I didn’t have to wait long for my to-go order so I give them props for that. However, I was not impressed with the burger or fries. Such a lack of flavor overall. The fries are so expensive and they looked like they were really old and overcooked, however the texture was fabulous. But, when I bit into them, all I tasted was peanut oil with an ending of salt. I ate a few handfuls and then couldn’t even look at them any longer. The burger lacked in flavor overall. I went with a single, wheat but, cheddar, white onions, grilled mushrooms(that were not grilled, basically right out of a can), lettuce and tomato. I literally only tasted the cheddar cheese. I could not taste the patty or any of the toppings. I was so upset that I wasted so many calories on such a lack luster meal. Sigh…

I thought the burgers and fries were very good. You can get the burger fixed virtually any way you like. Two burgers and one order of fries to go was over $ 13.00, so I do agree this place is expensive for what you get. So I would call it higher end fast food. I rate the fries as very good, but I prefer the burgers at Five Guys for this type of thing.

Boardwalk fresh burgers is like any other burger joint except you can create your own burger for $ 3.99 first you choose your bread then cheese then toppings and the sauce or pick from other choices like Bacon Bleu burger that has your normal toppings(lettuce, tomatoes) and blue cheese or a Mushroom Swiss burger is also on the menu and if you are in the mood for a BBQ burger they have it too. I guess you can compare this place to Five guys for $ 7.00 bucks I had a burger bigger then at Burger king and water. The people here were friendly even though we came in just before they closed(10pm) on a Sunday. The place was nice inside and clean and it was cold so it felt good to sit inside. Over all yes expensive but not as much as Five guys, if you want cheap burgers go to Burger King but if you want good burgers this is a good place maybe not the best but it hit the spot after wondering around Colonial thinking what to eat at 9:30pm at night. Check this place out if you are near the Fashion Square Mall.

I love me some Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries. It’s a memory from my childhood that I have missed. I am so glad they are back in Orlando. Those of you long-time Orlando residents may recall they used to have a location inside of the Florida Mall food court. I remember being a kid and being told by my mom that if my brother, sister and I behaved, we could get some fries. Not just any fries, but Boardwalk fries, cooked in peanut oil. Made fresh to order. We would always take our fries and sprinkle them with old bay seasoning and a drizzle of vinegar that they provide. Awesome. Now they are open again here in Orlando right on Colonial. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I have been there about five times since they opened and I not once have had a bad experience. It’s a shame that some of the reviews here are negative. I have introduced other people to Boardwalk and they have all left, happy and full. My only gripe is the price. I am always believing you pay for what you get and if you like it, you’ll pay for it but $ 3 for a small fry, even though their small fry is a medium or even a large elsewhere, it is a bit pricy. If you are there with friends or family, split a fry and save some cash.

The burgers are pretty tasty, but the menu is a bit perplexing to me. If you order the Signature Mushroom Swiss Burger it is one price, but if you build the exact same burger as a «build your own» burger, it is cheaper. $ 6.79 vs. $ 5.99. To me this just doesnt add up. The fries start at $ 3 for a small. I would try them if they were less expensive. I hear they are really good, but I just can’t justify the money. They have a pretty cool digital soda machine that can dispense around 100 differeny concoctions.

I visited this newly opened restaurant with my coworkers today. It’s been under construction for a while and we’ve been looking forward to a new place to eat. We weren’t disappointed! The restaurant is brand new so it looks great with the bright décor and wall graphics. They had a good amount of indoor seating as well as a few tables outside. After you place your order, expect to wait another five minutes or less. The food is cooked to order so you know it’s freshly made and not sitting under hot lamps. My co-workers all ordered the 7 oz boardwalk burger with fries. The burgers were perfect. Two large patties cooked to perfection. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with swiss cheese. All other toppings are free. Expect to easily pay at least $ 10 for a burger, fries and drink. If you add some extra toppings or get a larger size of fries, you can reach $ 15. They also have hot dogs and a couple salads to choose from. They have a kids menu with three meals to choose from, grilled cheese, hot dog and chicken tenders. Overall we were very pleased and will return in the future. Much better than Five Guys and Steak and Shake.

So, I’ve been curious about this place ever since I saw the sign go up and now that it’s open I had a chance to check it out. It’s basically a pretty typical fast food counter service restaurant, but better quality than you’d get at one of the major fast food burger chains. You go in and either specify a burger from a list of ingredients, or just select one of the three or four that are already set up for you. I ordered a BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger, which was a double-patty burger. You can get a white or wheat bun, I chose white. I also got it with fries and a drink. The soda machine is one of those crazy touch screen Coke machines that have been slowly working their way into fast food restaurants. They contain over a hundred variations of sodas, juice, water, etc. The burgers are tasty but not extraordinary. I do like the bun they use, it’s a lot better than I expected. The fries are excellent as well. There’s a down side though. In the specific microcosm of fast food restaurants, this might merit a four star rating all things being equal. Unfortunately the cost of my burger and fries with a drink was over $ 13. That’s unacceptable for a restaurant where your wax-paper-entombed hamburger is handed to you on a plastic tray. So I’ll dock a star for the unnecessarily high price.
