History

Established in 1978.

After hearing our name — Cuhaci & Peterson… so many people ask (or maybe just wonder), who or what — exactly — is a Cuhaci?

Ed Cuhaci and his family emigrated from Turkey to Ottawa, Canada to establish the architecture firm Cuhaci & Associates, in 1963. After running a help wanted ad in the Montréal Star, Ed hired Lonnie Peterson — a young, farm-​raised, wet-​behind-​the-​ears architect from Nebraska.

The two worked side by side during the boom before the 1976 Summer Olympics. During this time, Ed witnessed the same characteristics in Lonnie that he taught his own children; hard work, honesty and respect.

With that, in 1978, after scouting locations and making plans, Ed and Lonnie founded a new U.S. firm in Florida: Cuhaci & Peterson. It was a perfect partnership because Lonnie provided the sweat and legwork and Ed provided the initiative, experience & funding.

Today, the same values that Ed and Lonnie built in to C&P continue to drive the success and longevity of C&P.
