Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort

Do not eat the seafood at their restaurant. I got food poisoning from their sushi and seafood dish. I was there for a work conference and completely ruined my 2^nd day in front of clients. It lasted for over 12 hours and was completely miserable. I would think that would happen at such a nice looking resort. I will not be bringing my family back.

Probably the best hotel resort I’ve ever stayed at in my life, this place is truly a dream hotel located in Orlando the resort is so big that you are hardly ever want to leave it. That can be a problem if you want to sightsee. This hotel is literally that good, that it can truly mess up your trip and any plans you had. I stayed here with my wife and three-​year-​old daughter and it truly was the best vacation we’ve ever had great service, Great breakfast buffet unmatched pool areas, extremely friendly and accommodating staff. I booked the bed-​and-​breakfast just be careful if order room service it is extremely expensive– I highly recommend getting the bed and breakfast buffet. We will be back. FYI. It’s close to Downtown Disney Springs.

This resort is just AWESOME! I’ve been to this hotel before, but just for family wedding events and I still remember how beautiful the hotel was and just everything about it was just gorgeous!
The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are ridiculously nice. But what really sets this resort apart from others is the amount of activities they provide for the guests staying there. There are trails that you can walk or bike around to. A camp set up just for Kids, really cool to take a look at as well. Tennis/​Racquetball, golf course, amazing pools, water sports which was fun and scary! hahaha, especially if you’re trying to not fall into the water. A fitness center, rock climbing, and other activities that I cannot remember on the top of my head. But this resort literally has everything! It almost made you feel like you didn’t have to leave the resort at all!
I like that this resort is located close to Disney Springs (still known as Downtown Disney to me) and the theme parks. It’s not in the midst of all the chao’s of Lake Buena Vista, but close enough. If you ever need a place to stay, I’d definitely recommend staying here!

«Best Stay Yet!»
Last year, through a happy coincidence of conference attendance, I obtained platinum status with the Hyatt loyalty program; and, accumulated enough for a nice rewards stay. My wife and I have stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress a number of times, especially when our daughter was younger.
Everything went perfectly throughout our stay, from check-​in, to the quality of the room, to the sleep comfort, to the outdoor fire pit, the pool, the fitness center, parking; and, even the restaurants; and, convenient location.
The first evening and last morning were spend entirely on-​property, enjoying the amenities, which are extensive. We reminisced about the days when there were stables on-​property; and, we couldn’t wait for our daughter to be old enough to ride; but, when we did return that time, we only got to visit the horses in their stables. We talked about the landscape re-​design, the room and exterior renovations, the lobby renovations; and, seeing the fireworks from our room… and, we fondly remembered the terrific brunches downstairs… what a great trip down memory lane!
The other two days, we ventured out to International Drive, and experienced I-​drive 360, discovered new places to eat; and, enjoyed some old favorites. It was our best stay yet!

The grounds are very nice and teeming with wild life like frogs, lizards and birds. The private lake is very fun for boating and the bikes and pools are great too. Our room on the other hand was dirty. :(people work very hard here and we had some exceptional service but also some rude people. In the terms of most hotels, this is very nice but compared to other hyatts, dirty rooms and rude employees lower the 5 star amenities to a 3.

This place is legit the best hyatt in Florida. The hotel is so beautiful and the staff is so polite. The room was so spacious and the bathroom was so beautiful. The pools were out of this world! They had so many pools and they had great hot tubs. They even had cabanas and a pool side bar/​grill. They had rental bikes and boats. I never been to such a great hotel that had so many amenities! Best experience ever! I highly recommend for families and young couples. They even have a shuttle to the major parks such as disney and universal studios.

This is an awesome place. Twice as nice as I expected for what I paid. Really had that resort hotel feeling. It all started with Rusty at the front desk who came across as genuinely caring that I had everything I needed. I will stay there again.
The pools were awesome. Shuttle to the parks was convenient. Walking distance to a number of restaurants.
Ask for a view of the fireworks in advance if your into that.

Amazing resort and super close to the Disney! The lobby is bright, refreshing and inviting. The customer service is top notch just like most Hyatts.
All the pools are amazing with cavers, waterfalls, bridges and tropical atmosphere. The lake where you can use kayaks, paddle board is super pretty. Great sunsets from most every room.
Everything I ate on property was delicious. The only complaint I wish they had designated smoking area and people didn’t smoke right outside the lobby doors.

My family and I booked the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort for a 4 night stay and I wish we stayed somewhere else. First, the positives:
*The pool is awesome — large, spacious, waterfalls, waterslides. My daughter (5 yo) had a blast with the pool and also the Splash Zone.
*The resort is conveniently located near Disney World. Also, every choice of dining is located just down the street.
*Security Guard upon entrance is a nice touch.
And now for the negatives we experienced:
*The first day we arrived, we decided to have lunch at the hotel restaurant. We were seated promptly but was never given any service, as if we were completely forgotten. 4 other tables that were seated after us received beverages and had their orders taken. Us? No one bothered to even say «Good afternoon, I’ll be right with you» even though we were seated right next to a table that was seated after us. So, we decided to leave, but not before I spoke with the restaurant manager (Frederic) to let him know our frustrations. We decided to get takeout and bring it back to our hotel room instead.
The next morning, we excitedly left for Epcot Center and spent all day there. We were completely exhausted when we got back to our room around 10pm but to our surprise, the room was never serviced. Housekeeping never showed up. The food from the night before was still on the table, our beds weren’t made, the bathroom towels still on the floor and no fresh towels to use after a long day at Epcot. So I called the Front Desk to inform them and they asked if we wanted housekeeping to come up and service the room now. Seriously? It’s 10pm and my 5 year old is already passed out from spending all day at Epcot and we’re all exhausted. So I told them that all we wanted were fresh towels and we’ll worry about housekeeping in the morning when we left for Magic Kingdom.
So I hop in the shower and what’s the first thing I notice (not sure how I didn’t see it from the day before)? There is mold growing on the shower ceiling. I take a few pics and decide it’s time to speak with the hotel manager. I walk downstairs and speak with Gabby, the night manager. I let her know about all our above frustrations and she was very apologetic. She said that she would immediately save a new room for us the following morning and that she would comp the first 2 days of our resort fees. I thanked her and I left.
The next 2 days and nights were uneventful and it was check out time. I went to the Front Desk to review our charges and was surprised that the none of the resort fees were taken off. In addition, I was charged 4 days of Valet Parking ($ 25/​day) when I used the Self Parking ($ 17/​day). I asked the agent at the Front Desk to fix the charges, which she did for the parking. But when I inquired about the resort fees, she said that there weren’t any notes by Gabby in the computer about the comped resort fees. I told the agent that I wanted to speak with another manager and she obliged. Instead of speaking with another manager, the agent came back and said that she would go ahead and comp the 2 days worth of resort fees.
In conclusion, we will not be staying here again. The amenities are nice but the services are inadequate.

Beautiful rooms. Nice gym. Coffee bar could have better breakfast options.
Removing 1 star, however, because of something silly and annoying. Beware: enroll in Hyatt Gold Passport — their rewards program — *BEFORE* your stay, as it’s impossible to enroll and receive credit for your stay afterwards, once you check out, if you’re not already a members. (Yes, this is strange and unusual.) Unfortunately, I was not asked to enroll upon check-​in, and given my membership in multiple other hotel rewards programs, didn’t think it would be a problem to simply enroll via Internet or phone after my stay — once I had more time. Nope!

This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the Orlando entertainment region, close to all the amusement parks. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we pulled into the driveway. I came here to attend the Mid Market CIO Forum, hosted by Boardroom Events. As a result I didn’t get to enjoy a lot of the amenities offered at the resort, like the bicycles paddle boards, etc. But, the room was nicely decorated, quite spacious, and located on the corner which have us 2 balconies to overlook Epcot center on one side and Disney World on the other. So we got to enjoy fireworks shows from both parks each night. Everything I saw at the hotel was beautifully maintained, clean, and esthetically pleasing. I definitely give them 5 stars, and highly recommend them.

This place is conveniently located in the heart of Orlando. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. They greeted me and my husband with a glass of champagne and a bowl of water for my dog. I couldn’t be any more impressed ! Complementary two bottle of water daily vs those posh hotels that over charge 7 $ per bottle .
Our room was in corner view and we got two balcony and can admire the view and get to enjoy the fire works from Disney land !! The pool is so big and is surrounded by waterfalls coming from a giant rock.
Hotel is clean and well staff I would give and five star and would highly recommend for anyone traveling with family and kids

Excellent hotel in the heart of Orlando– it’s also a beautiful resort and the outdoor pool area is stunning. The staff were so polite and accommodating and the hotel restaurant servers were friendly– the Vietnamese bartender gave us free tastings of his favorite whiskey one night. Free shuttles to the Disney and Universal theme parks (huge perk), free access to the golf range, free water sports (sailing, canoeing, water paddling), free rock climbing, free bikes to peddle around the resort, fire pit, hot tubs, many pools, water slide, state of the art gym, etc. Did I mention they were all FREE?!
My only peeve is that I wish the outdoor bar stayed open a little later (they close at 10p), but can’t have it all.
Two thumbs up for this hotel!

Stayed here for a business conference and was blown away by the service received. We were warmly greeted from the time we stepped into the lobby (which is massive and a conversation piece on it’s own). The rooms are very modern and offer tons of amenities. From the 10^th floor, I had a nice view of the property from the balcony.
The Food
We ate at two of restaurants on the property
The Lakehouse:
Stopped in for the Calamari steak strips and the claim fritters. Both prepared well, fresh and delicious. Someone else in our party had the KC Bone in strip steak and the steak fries (huge-​not your average French fry). Both were said to be very good as well.
The Hemingway: Has beautiful tropical scenery with flowers and a mini waterfall leading up to the entrance. I had lunch here two days in a row and neither day disappointed, but I have to choose lunch on the second day as winner because of what was offered:
Starter: Tomato Basil Bisque– so much flavor with chunks of tomato. It was served with a fresh baked bread stick. I could have eaten two bowls!
Entrée:
Hemingway’s Signature Crab Cake– The winner for me-​hands down! Generous amounts of lump crab meat (Florida Blue Crab), roasted sweet corn salsa, sitting on top of a delicate cheese grits cake. The flavor of crab could be tasted in every bite. A major plus was that the crab cake was fresh, lightly dressed, and prepared closer to its natural state, instead overdone with breadcrumbs, heavy mayo and fried like other places tend to prepare them. It was served with asparagus spears-​SIMPLY DELICIOUS!!!
Dessert:
Florida Style Key Lime Pie with baked meringue and an almond and coconut crust– Yummo! The presentation was awesome (it was eaten too fast to snap a picture)
I can go on and on about this resort. There’s so much to see and do without even leaving the property. But if you did, it’s only a mile away from Disney World, four miles from SeaWorld and about 8 miles from Universal studios. A definite place to stay the next time I’m in Florida.

Let me explain how it’s a little hard to write an unbiased review for the Hyatt Grand Cypress. I first experienced this hotel as a kid, just walking through the lobby and exploring the grounds with my folks. That pool/​grotto setup (with slide!) so amazed me that I vowed I would one day stay here when I was an adult (I was obsessed with hotel swimming pools as a child and this one had lots of bells and whistles). And so fast forward 30 years or so and I kept my promise.
Really, there’s no way any hotel stay could live up to my expectations.
The pool is still a thing to behold, though perhaps with less bells and whistles as I had imagined as a kid in the 80s. It seemingly goes in and out of caves (as a very imaginative person, I had built it up to be multiple grottos with private bars and while it is not this, it’s still a really nice pool!) Now I’m going to tell you that I didn’t even use the damn pool. Yeah, yeah, I know.
At first I was really impressed with the hotel amenities b/​c wow, those kayaks, canoes and paddle boats are *free*? No. Not free at all. «Resort tax» here is $ 25 a day (after cursory research, I see that not all hotels charge it. Some charge a couple bucks). Stop thinking you can pull one over on your customer and just make the rate 25 bucks more, b/​c this just left a really bitter taste in my mouth.
The room was fine. Basic. No robes. Free bottles of water. Mini fridge. Comfortable bed. Decent bathrooms and products. AOK. Worth the original price I was quoted on Expedia (in all fairness, they did mention the resort fee, but I thought that all hotels charged a resort fee and I didn’t realize it was $ 25 per day).
Here’s the problem with the «resort.» It sounds like a nice thing, right? Every amenity at your fingertip and you need not leave the property (which would be silly in a place like Orlando, theme park central). If you don’t have a car (and if you do, tag on a lot more $ for parking), you’re beholden to either taking Über or a cab (it’ll take forever b/​c you’re really off the main street) or their extremely limited shuttle service that no one tells you about. Let me give the disappointing shuttle service a paragraph of its own, though.
Although it’s not mentioned anywhere, nor do they tell you anything about it at check in, after seeing a bus letting off a group of people, I inquired about taking the shuttle to Universal. The young guy at the valet told me was, «yes, we have that.» The next morning we asked valet where it was and the extremely unhelpful, older Caucasian woman working valet told me where to wait and that she knew nothing about when it was coming. Twenty minutes later, we asked a much more helpful older, African American man also working valet and who was 10X more knowledgable. I mention race and age because the vast majority of the people working valet are younger guys and I want the older gentleman to get credit for being helpful. He got us the schedule (why hadn’t the two people that I had asked before this get me the schedule? Why hadn’t they given it to me when I checked in?) and we saw the next shuttle to Universal wasn’t coming for another hour. See, they have one bus going to either the Disney Parks OR Universal and if you don’t plan right, you’re just SOL. It wouldn’t be so bad if they were more transparent about their shuttle service because we would have planned accordingly. So, tag on another 20 – 50 dollars per day in cab/​Über rides. Somehow you being to see where staying on Disney property makes a ton of sense.
Another tip: bring snacks or you’ll be paying $ 6 for a can of Pringles or a bag of nuts in their overpriced gift shop. The hotel bar has expensive coffee in the mornings and really expensive drinks at night plus paltry snacks that are also overpriced. There’s no way you’re going to be walking to a convenience store nearby (though I think there is some kind of shuttle service to the main road. Again, it’s a mystery so I can’t tell you more about it other than I saw a group of women leave and come back with bags of snacks while we were waiting for the elusive Universal shuttle).
This property leaves a lot to be desired when you compare it to similarly priced Disney hotels. The only reason it’s not 2 stars? The amazing Lakehouse Restaurant (reviewed separately). Having easy access to a restaurant with such great vegan options is a rare and wonderful thing (they also provide room service with a fair amount of healthy options).
That said, I saw that the Omni in Orlando was about $ 75 – 100 less than this Hyatt «resort.» I’m still angry with myself for not checking, but Omnis are in general superior to Hyatts, so I just assumed it would be more expensive. After checking out of this hotel, we had reservations at the Disney Wilderness Lodge and despite it being only around 35 dollars more per night, it’s like night and day as far as amenities and customer service.

This place is pretty nice! The rooms are very clean and pretty large. Also our room had two balconys that had amazing views of the lake and downtown Orlando.
The pools are also really nice! I went when it wasn’t busy and was just such a great experience. I could lay down anywhere that I wanted, people came over with drink menus and in general had an easy time relaxing. They also have a lot of trees and greenery along with the lagoon pools so it really feels like your in a tropical oasis.
Parking was a bit of pain, but I guess they have to be strict to avoid Disney visitors from parking there. Staff in general were pretty nice and they helped me every time I had questions and also fixed my issue when I couldn’t pay for parking.

Alright everyone, this post is long overdue but better late than never, right? A while back, my family and I (including my beloved maltese pup, Daisy) made our annual trip down to Orlando, FL for a week of fun in the sun. We go there for Christmas every year! It’s always a good time so we were really looking forward to vacationing there again. We’ve stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress twice before and had a wonderful trip so we booked yet another stay there. Since it’s a dog-​friendly hotel, I’ve always brought my furbaby along with me!
On the morning of the 26^th, we went out to grab breakfast and left Daisy in our room. After a wonderful meal, we came back to our hotel. She always greets us at the door so we expected to find her waiting, but she was nowhere to be found. I can’t even start to explain what I was feeling with words. I felt like my heart had stopped — I literally couldn’t breathe. I’m genuinely shocked that I didn’t faint. I was bawling hysterically, but I managed to pull myself together and call the front desk to report her missing when the operator told me she’d transfer me to the manager. Apparently, they had noise complaints so they decided to take her… without getting in touch with me personally. I had given them my mom’s cell number when I first checked in, but she had left her phone in our room so I obviously missed their call. Honestly, at that point, I was just relieved that they had her. I went down to the lobby to get her, and the manager met me up front. She explained that it was «policy,» mentioning the pet waiver I had signed at check-​in. I wanted to argue, but I was too drained and exhausted to say anything. My brain was numb, and truthfully, I was just happy to have my baby back in my arms.
That night, we went out to eat at Hanamizuki, a delish japanese restaurant nearby. We didn’t think we’d have another problem so we let Daisy relax in our room. I left MY number at the front desk this time in case of an emergency. To our dismay, we got another call from the Hyatt. Apparently, they received complaints again so we left in the middle of our meal.
At that point, I was really upset. If you market your hotel as a dog-​friendly place, you take into account that dogs are going to make some noise. Daisy is a well-​trained pup, and she does NOT bark incessantly. Believe me, I live in an apartment complex in Maryland, and I’ve NEVER had issues — she stays at home by herself while I go to school/​work every day. Not to mention, she’s also stayed at a bunch of other dog-​friendly hotels without any problems whatsoever. Yes, she will bark if someone startles her… because she’s a dog for god’s sake. Babies cry, children scream, and dogs bark.
The next morning, we went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. I wasn’t worried about Daisy, but I had my phone out just in case since I gave them my number the night before! I was relieved but unsurprised that I didn’t get a call. After finishing our meal, we went up to see Daisy and saw that our «do not disturb» sign had been removed. We went in and saw that they had taken her once again. This time, not only did they take her, they went through our stuff to find her leash (I had stored her harness and leash in the front zipper of my bag before I had left). My parents and I felt totally violated.
When my dad saw how upset I was, he decided to go down to the lobby in my place. When he got back, he told me that the day manager seemed annoyed with us. She said that they were losing money because neighbors were complaining about Daisy. Apparently, they had to give them discounts. Now, keep in mind that we’re paying a pet fee of $ 150, and we’re staying on a dog-​friendly floor. I don’t blame the other guests one bit — I understand where they’re coming from — but I blame the Hyatt Grand Cypress. They booked non-​pet owners on a dog-​friendly floor, which is fine, but they should’ve told them straight up that they were being booked there and offered a discount in advance. They inconvenienced the other guests for sure, but they inconvenienced us as well, and by tenfold.
They eventually refunded our pet fee, but it didn’t make any difference whatsoever. They ruined our trip. Yes, they gave us back our $ 150, but what about the thousands of dollars that went into our entire vacation. We had to stay in our room, order takeout, and cancel EVERYTHING because of their «policy.» I do NOT recommend this hotel! If you’re bringing a furry family member, look elsewhere! There are plenty of other dog-​friendly hotels in the area.

Wow! What a beautiful hotel and grounds, with some of the most attentive and friendliest, service oriented staff that you will ever meet.
Stayed here for 2 nights for a business meeting, and everything was wonderful. I highly considered changing my flight and staying an extra day to enjoy all that this resort has to offer.
Perfect for any event. Didn’t see a lot of kids, which is nice when you are traveling for business, but I did see a few things that would keep children entertained.
The food was amazing, although pricey.
Rooms were clean, bed was very comfortable, and the overall feel was classy.

Had a stay cation here over the weekend. Have been here before but wasn’t a Unilocal-​er back then
Super friendly staff. Very helpful and don’t try to get you to do things you don’t want. Our hotel room overlooked the pond/​lake area and I was told we could see the fireworks from Disney at night (we were out by 930 both nights we stayed).
My favorite was the on the rocks bar by the pool/​beach area close to the kayaks, paddle boats, etc. I was there with family and the atmosphere was relaxed and my daughter was able to play on the sand while I enjoyed a few drinks with her grandfather.
Had the breakfast buffet Saturday and this morning, was really impressed! Great selection, the server from yesterday even recognized us today and welcomed us back.
We will stay here again. A lot of great amenities, close to theme parks and all around good experience. I’m including a photo of our breakfast setup from this morning — too delicious not to share!

Il est impossible dans ce palace de recevoir sa clé de chambre avant quatre heures. (4:00PM)
Pendant ce temps il n’y a nulle part où aller, car il n’y a absolument aucune place autour de la piscine, et tous les restaurants sont fermés.
Il y a un espèce de buffet bar où vous pouvez soit disant acheter de la nourriture, mais il est impossible de s’y faire servir car le personnel est complètement débordé. De plus il est impossible de s’asseoir soit sur la terrasse ou autour des piscines car toutes les tables sont occupées. Et par des gens qui squattent sans consommation ou qui comme nous attendent leur clé pendant des heures.
La self parking est très éloigné de l’hôtel, il faut compter cinq bonnes minutes à pied pour retourner au bâtiment principal. Pour autant que vous né vous né perdiez pas, car le parcours est très mal indiqué et vous avez tendance à vous perdre dans ce magnifique jardin qui entoure l’hôtel.
Comme je viens de le dire, un point positif, le magnifique parc qui entoure l’hôtel avec des plantes tropicales.
Les chambres sont spacieuses, de très bonne facture, silencieuse est très propre. Le lit est très confortable. Pas de mini bar dans la chambre. La salle de bain est très grande et moderne.
Dès que vous rentrez dans cet hôtel, vous êtes perdus comme sur une île dès que vous avez franchi les barrières de la sécurité. Tout est fait pour que vous né quittiez pas ce complexe.
Je né retournerai pas dans cet hôtel, où j’ai moins bien été traité qu’au Best Western du coin.

I was here with my family for our Orlando amusement park getaway. We have always enjoyed the Hyatt in Maui, HI. This property provided a similar experience, with lots to explore and do for my kids.
To start — the extra amenities definitely make this location worth the money! It’s super family oriented, and the staff are extremely friendly and very accommodating, they expect families. The service at the pool was a little slow at first, but once you get served, they are very cordial, I got the feeling that they need to know you need service before they are overly attentive.
Food — I can’t speak for the restaurants as we didn’t really get a chance to actually eat at the onsite restaurants. We did attempt breakfast one morning, but it was really crowded. We did have lunch poolside and the food was really good. They start their BBQ around noon and make tasty dogs and hamburgers. I also had their club which was delicious. They have a convenient little walk up breakfast spot for the mornings, which is located on the way to the parking lot, it serves the basics; coffee, bagels, banana’s, and oatmeal — ideal for a quick bite on your way to the amusement parks in the early morning.
Amenities — AWESOME, very well kept, everything in good and working condition. If you have a family, they will appreciate this aspect; rock walls, paddle boards, pitch-​n-​putt golf course, kids activity room, video games, lagoon, and bikes.
Rooms — nothing super special, but clean and nice enough (there were not suites available during our stay, so we were in a double with our kids). The pullout couch worked fine for the kids, and the room still had plenty of room.
Parking — A bit out of the way — they really do charge you for everything here, but I guess that’s expected. Aside from the room rate, expect a resort fee @$ 25, and parking fee at $ 17. But again, the property offers a lot to do, and the upkeep is quality.
Overall, a great family experience and I would go back. POOL WAS AWESOME as was waterslide and rock walls and all the other cool amenities available.
This place had a true resort feel to it — lots to do for adults and kids of all ages! As it relates to the parks, Disney is about 10 minutes away & Universal is about 20 minutes away. Just off the property there are also other restaurant options. The Hyatt experience added to our overall Orlando experience.
