I was duped into trying this place thinking it was the Korean BBQ Taco Box food truck. They take the Korean trucks place, name their truck almost identically and even paint the truck the same color?!? Tricky! I was standing in line to order when I noticed. Apparently I missed the Korean truck by a mere five days. They were handing out samples of the spicy taco, which wasn’t spicy at all! Good thing, because I’m not a spice fan. I decided to give the teriyaki chicken a try. I must say that the portions were HUGE! Way too much for one person to eat! The chicken was very, very salty and tasted rubbery like low quality chicken. The chicken came with some lettuce on the side and refried beans. All in all a very unimpressive meal. I know the portion was big but I thought the prices were high. This is a food truck with very little overhead and your charging people as if it were a sit down fast food restaurant? The guys working behind the counter were very friendly though but I won’t be back to this truck.

I know that food trucks have been all the rage in Orlando, but today was my first time(shame I know!) getting to one. That being said, I’m really happy my first food truck experience was with the Mexican BBQ Taco Box! The people working the truck were amazing; nice, friendly, real people. The food was delicious and fresh, made to order, and even though there is no picnic table or anything set-up for seating, there is a counter you can enjoy your meal at and it works just fine. I ordered the spicy bbq pork taco box and was delighted with the tastes! The sauce isn’t too spicy, but nothing close to bland either. It’s a lovely blend of deliciousness. My friend ordered the fajita taco box and he contently ate every bite. Love it. Can’t wait to go back and I can’t wait to experience other trucks around town!

I actually stumbled upon his place on accident while looking for Korea BBQ taco box. The address for the Korean place pointed me to this place– the Citgo gas station lot for some reason. The truck was also conveniently colored the same yellow color as the Korean BBQ taco box so I didn’t even notice I was at a Mexican one until I ordered haha. I guess I should have read. I did not regret it though! The food was great! Most of their plate items range from a flat rate of $ 6 to $ 7(no tax!). I ended up ordering a chicken dish(sorry, forgot the name) that came with sides of red rice, refried beans, small salad w/dressing(probably for taco), and smaller taco(corn tortilla). It was really good! The chicken was tender and didn’t seem like the traditional cut most Mexican food uses. Also, I believe they make their own corn tortilla because they have a hand tool for making them that’s visible. The only minor part is that the chicken plate I got was a little greasy, but hey, it’s a food truck right? Overall I ended up liking this place. The place seemed like a family business. A young girl was the cashier who took my order and money. She seemed to be the apprentice while the mom(I assume) cooked the food. I felt I had to tip her a dollar for being kind and polite for a young age. That $ 1 shall go towards her college tuition? :-P It was a hot day outside for me so when you order, be expected to stand outside for about ten or fifteen minutes for cooking/prep(depending on your order(s)). Small shade is provided, however, there is no where to eat your food comfortably. If you use the«bar» table outside you will be staring straight into their kitchen where the cook is facing you(awkward). It is best to bring this dish back to your place or a nice sitting area. Also, the food is best when hot because of the melty cheese so find a place quick! Mmm, now I want more.

Over the weekend was my first visit to Orlando’s Food Truck scene. Well, I am happy we picked the Mexican BBQ Taco Box as our first stop. The Al Pastor and the Chicken Taco was great! I am going back for more soon. Will update my review after my 2nd and 3rd visits.

Love to find new Foodtrucks to try so headed here on my day off. Was greeted by two very polite, happy gentleman who were to be my company, waiters, cooks & cashier. I was given a complimentary pork taco, with their spicy sauce and avocado sauce to try. Excellent, loved the kick in the spice sauce, had my lips tingling :) I ordered the chicken taco box which came with, ofcourse — chicken, shredded white cabbage, their avocado sauce, fresh wedges of lime, a small salad, their rice which was lightly seasoned with what I don’t know but very good, it also had some corn and I think, Lima beans, and the best refried beans I’ve ever had, with that came a little pot of whiteish sauce which was lovely, I dipped my tacos in it. Yum. They don’t serve anything to drink, but they’re parked in a citgo lot so you just run into the gas station for that. Oh and it does come with a fork and napkins. Excellent food, excellent service, great experience. I’ll be back, and next time with friends…

Opening in the past week, Orlando has yet another new entry into their lineup of food trucks. Hooray, another winner! I briefly skimmed their menu but didn’t really consider anything else other than the Mexican Taco Box(beef) that I ordered. Of course, after ordering I started paying more attention to their other offerings. A pretty limited selection, which is quite ok when you do something right. While my food was being made the chef asked how spicy I wanted my tacos. If you want any spice at all, you have 2 options… medium, or spicy. Not knowing their levels I opted for medium which it turns out is almost no spice at all. Live and learn. Next time, I’ll get spicy. I think he caught me eying some of their other options while I waited as he offered a plate with some of the other meat. The chicken was quite delicious and I instantly wondered if I would regret my decision. Nope! The tacos were awesome. I love soft corn tortillas and these were unlike any I have had before. Soft and a bit fluffy. While eating my tacos I was tearing off bits of the tortilla and eating that by itself. The beef inside was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I’m not entirely sure what the green shit is that they squirt into the tacos and I’m an idiot for not trying it by itself. I do know they made the tacos that much more delicious. At this point you could tell me it was vomit from the little demon girl in the Exorcist and I wouldn’t care. My main complaint is that everything offered is in box form. I’m glad I got a box on this visit, so I could try more items, but honestly I would rather just order a few of the tacos. The rice and beans were good, but come on, it’s hard to screw up rice and beans. I thought the salad was more of a garnish. Sure, I ate it, but I am a pig and would probably eat a ball of hair pulled out of a tub drain if somebody included it as a side. If you could order the tacos individually that’s totally the route I would take, getting a variety. Oh well. There were no posted hours so I asked one of the guys inside and he said they would be there 7 days a week from 9 – 9. So now 3 reviews and 3 different sets of operating hours. To play it safe for a few weeks it may be wise to assume they are open from about 11am-7pm. That stretch of time seems to be the only overlap in all of the reviews. I’m sure once they’ve been in business for a while they will have some more steady hours.

Until recently I have overlooked street vendors. I am so thankful I did not over look this one. It would have been my loss because this place is awesome. They have Quesadilla, Burrito, Fajitas, BBQ Taco and Mexican Taco Boxes. The truck is located in the Citgo Plaza on Colonial & Primerose. I believe they are open M-F 10 – 7 and S 7 – 11. Don’t quote me on the times but I am pretty sure that is what he said. The guys working were incredibly friendly, approachable and personable. They were very quick to explain the menu if you had questions and how things were made. I decided to get the Mexican Taco Box with Beef. It smelled incredible as it cooked, it was hard to wait until we got home to eat. The box comes with a small salad, rice, beans and 3 tacos. The beef is very flavorful, not spicy but flavorful. They make all their tortillas from scratch. Which is obvious because they are like nothing you would get from a store. Hands down one of the best tasting tacos I have had.

Fellow Unilocaler Chris R. pointed out on Facebook yesterday that a new food truck had opened on Colonial Dr. near Colonialtown. This one is the Mexican BBQ Taco Box truck, and here’s a link to an article about it that recently appeared in the Orlando Weekly’s content: As you can see from the pictures in the article — and, of course, its name — this is similar to the Korean BBQ Taco Box truck(which I have yet to try). I’ve seen the Korean food truck many times but always find myself going to The Crooked Spoon/Big Wheel/Treehouse food trucks at the bazaars/get-togethers. Since I’ve never tried the Korean food truck’s food, I can’t tell you how much different it is than the food served at the Mexican BBQ Taco Box truck. If you’ve been to the former, you’ll probably enjoy the latter, though. Just as the article I provided above says, this truck offers quesadilla, burrito, fajita, BBQ taco and Mexican taco boxes.(See the picture I added for prices.) I wasn’t offered a drink here during my visit(perhaps the truck does not have beverages yet; one of the people working in it today mentioned that the truck has been open for only 3 days), but am looking forward to a return visit if/when the truck begins to serve horchatas. I love that stuff! I ordered the chicken teriyaki BBQ taco, which was very good. You get a lot of teriyaki chicken for the price. I wish that this box, or perhaps any/all of the boxes, came with more than one tortilla since there was plenty of chicken, but nothing in which to put it once the small tortilla(which already has chicken in it) it comes with is gone. Anyway, it’s not a big deal. Is this how it is at the Korean truck, too? I’ll check the reviews out to see. The staff is friendly and provided me with some useful information, which I’ll pass along to you now. For the immediate future, the truck will be open daily from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. in this location, which is at the corner of Colonial Dr. and Primrose Ave. in the Citgo gas station’s parking lot. The temporary phone # to call is(817) 448‑2082. The truck doesn’t have a permanent business # set up, but if you want to call this other # in the meantime to confirm that it’s open and that it’s still in the same spot, go ahead and do so. A new phone # probably will be up and running not too far from now, though, so disregard the above number after about the next week or so. It seemed to me that more of the business-related matters were still yet to be finalized, but were in process of that. Stop by this truck if you can and if you enjoy the other area food trucks, particularly the Korean BBQ Taco Box one. I recommend it and will be back here at some point, though probably not until I’ve been to my favorite food trucks again as well as tried some others.
