Literally the toughest steak I’ve ever eaten. It was cooked well beyond well done. You’ll see in the photo. It’s impossible to cut through with this plastic knife because it’s so hard, stiff and dry. The salad dressing is amazing, arroz com pollo is very good the maduros and tostones are good and having it delivered to our pool was nice but if I spend $ 50 for lunch I would like to have my steak cooked correctly.

Fantastic for what it is: a hole-in-the-wall lunch spot. Don’t expect anything fancy. The food is kind of greasy and that’s the best part. The food is more reminiscent of a sandwich you’d have at a friend’s mom’s house than at a restaurant. I’ve been here twice, once for a friend’s birthday dinner and once for a quick lunch. This place definitely fits the bill better for lunch. I had a Media Noche sandwich with black bean soup and it was fantastic. If you’re curious, stop in. The workers are really friendly and hard-working. And the food is definitely as authentic as it gets.

Delicious with reasonable prices. The food is authentic, the Cuban sandwich is big, the plantains are perfect. Would recommend if you want authentic cuban food.

I think I found my favorite Cuban restaurant in Orlando. The kind that reminds me of the Cuban dives in Hialeah where I grew up. I went with the $ 5.99 lunch special(uh, yes please). I ordered the Media Noche(midnight sandwich?) with black bean soup. It was phenomenal! The kind of Media Noche I grew up on. It wasn’t clean and dry like most Americanized Cuban spots in Orlando, but thick, flavorful & a little greasy, just like they’re supposed to be. I plan on coming back and trying one of their actual plates. I’ll update my review once I do so! :-)

Amazing dinner! Great waitress(Nellie)! Great prices! Seriously, this might be my new favorite place in town… If you go, order the #18 with yellow rice. You won’t regret it!

4 Stars for good Cuban food, a friendly/family-owned vibe, and rice that reminded me of my grandfather’s cooking! This ain’t the prettiest spot in town– I’ll get that out of the way. It doesn’t look like much from outside but it delivers! We grabbed a table and had our order taken shortly thereafter. I opted for the Ropa Vieja meal(comes with white rice and sweet plantains) and my husband got the chicken platter lunch special(yellow rice and grilled peppers). They came out and immediately me eyes were drawn to the white rice. It was buttery and tasted like my grandfather’s rice(I can’t tell you how much butter he put in his recipe… But it’s a lot). The Ropa Vieja was nice and tasty. It wasn’t the best I’ve had, but dang it hit the spot! The chicken on my husband’s dish was packed full of flavor but a bit dry. Either way we barely spoke because we were stuffing our faces so vigorously. I saved half of both meals and has plenty for a second lunch later that day. The server was very accommodating with an additional to-go order we put in as well as proactively asking if we needed boxes and bags. I was too full to try their desserts so I now have even more incentive to return!

This is a small restaurant that makes some of the best Cuban food in the Orlando area. From Cuban sandwiches to lamb shank fricase are delicious, properly prepared and what you might get in someone’s home. The dining room is small, but warm and the staff is very friendly. If you are looking for white table cloths, this isn’t the place. Today’s lunch was a wonderful Cuban sandwich. I will be back next week to enjoy the lamb shank. I highly recommend their food. I have had one meal, deep fried pork chunks that was over cooked and dry. Other than that every meal has been excellent.

I got the Churrasco with onions, white rice, and black bean soup. It was delicious. The steak had so much flavor and everything was cooked to perfection. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. It was my first time at the restaurant and they were very helpful in figuring out what I might like. I strongly recommend checking this place out. Excellent!

Having never had Cuban fare, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Wow — were my taste buds happy!!! Obviously been there a while in this kitchy little spot. But the aromas alone will drag you in from the street! We had #11& #12, wanting good combo plates fairly indicative of the region. The idea was to share, but both were reluctant to stop eating our own or give too much to the other. Hearty, comforting & reasonably priced. I just wish it were a closer drive to my home, Seattle.

What can I say? It was exactly what I expected. The cuban was a solid cuban sandwich, nothing spectacular, I did like that the lunch special came with a side and I could swap out the black beans for plantains which were pretty good. I’d consider going back, but certainly wouldn’t go out of my way. Black Bean Deli or Latin Square are much better for a cuban sandwich. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their platters more than I enjoyed my sandwich, so maybe if I went back I would try something else.

I think they may have been over confident when naming themselves«número uno.» I tried the black bean soup, which was really watery and taste like straight up onion, and the medianoche, which was a disappointment. On the plus side it has a nice mom and pop vibe, but if you’re looking for authentic Cuban food(being Cuban I think I have some authority on the subject), I worked just keep looking.

Yummy!!! The older I get the more flavor I desire and Numero Uno exceeded my expectations! I ordered the Mojo chicken yellow rice and plantains. It was delish and the ½ chicken was huge! Service was quick and the food didn’t take very long to reach the table. If you are looking for a cosy spot with not a lot of noise this is the perfect place, the lighting is dim which provides for a peaceful atmosphere. Keep in mind what time of day you would like to dine-in. Parking is horrible and the actual parking spots are not to code. I’m certain someone went outside on their own and just painted parking lines. The lines are off and even compact cars can’t fit in some of them. Be aware because leaving can become chaotic if more than one vehicle is trying to leave. I would totally go back to try something else but I’m not driving next time.

It’s a small Cuban hole in the wall type of restaurant with limited parking. I had their number 6 lunch special, and it was the comfort food I needed. I don’t find much authentic Cuban food, but this is the place to go if you want that homey, authentic lunch or dinner experience.

Great place to grab a quick lunch at. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was yummy. The prices online are not correct, and the lunches actually start at $ 5.99. I ordered the picadillo, and it came with white rice, a side salad, black beans, and tostones. It hit the spot! Definitely will come back again.

Numero Uno is a small Cuban Restaurant located near the corner of Orange Ave. and Michigan in Orlando. I’ve been searching for a place to get good Cuban food for a while so when I had the opportunity to check this place out I was all in! 1. Parking: Horrible! This restaurant is on the smaller side and the parking lot is very small. There are about 12 parking spots in the whole lot and they are very small and difficult to maneuver into. Just an FYI. 2. The Venue: Small but quaint with dim lighting. The staff members that we encountered were all friendly and service was pretty good as well. 3. The Food: G R E A T ! ! ! ! The menu has several options including chicken, seafood, beef and pork entrees. Several appetizers and desert options as well. They start with a basket of Cuban bread and butter which was warm and really good. After careful deliberation I ordered the Pollo Salteado which was grilled chicken breast with peppers and onions. It was served with a side of white rice, black beans, and plantains. OMG it was SOOOOO good. The chicken was grilled perfectly and seasoned just right. The flavor was magical. I’m normally not a big fan of white rice, but this white rice was phenomenal. And the black beans and plantains were fantastic as well! The whole meal was excellent! The meal was about $ 12. They have lunch specials Monday through Friday. I can’t wait to go back to Numero Uno. There are so many other options that I can’t wait to go back and try!

I was looking for a place to grab some coffee and work remotely when I realized I forgot to eat today. I saw Numero Uno and Cuban food hit me right so I pulled in. I will warn you now that their parking lot is small… DONOT park in the bank’s parking lot next door or they WILL tow you. The outside of the building has some cool artwork on the side where the parking lot is and when you walk inside, it has the feel of being in little Havana. The staff were very friendly and seated me right away. I wanted a window seat and they moved me without any question. Soon after that the lunch rush showed up and service slowed down a bit but in all fairness, the place filled up in about 15 minutes. I was amazed. I ordered my unsweetened iced tea but had to settle for a lemon since they did not offer limes. I am a little puzzled that they offer Corona beer and don’t have limes so that is a detail they should revisit in my opinion. Even the gentleman I was talking to that is a long time regular finds it odd they do not have limes in a Cuban Restaurant and he is heading to Cuba for a visit in 10 days. I ordered the Mofongo and the Cuban Sandwich and my server pointed out the lunch special of a Cuban Sandwich and Black Bean Soup that would have saved me some money. I really appreciated that but elected to stick to what I was in the mood for even though it cost more. About 15 minutes later my Mofongo arrived and I will say… It was one of the best I have had in Orlando. The taste and texture was spot on and the sauce was served on the side. It has some bits meat in the sauce and really complemented the Mofongo without overpowering the flavor. I was down to the last 4 bites when my Cuban Sandwich arrived. The presentation was a little blah but the taste was excellent. The pulled pork had a great flavor and the ham was not too salty. I prefer a few more pickles but that is just my personal preference. The bread however was a rock star! If you want a good Cuban Sandwich, it all starts with the bread! If the worst I can say is the parking lot is too small, they don’t have limes and I would have preferred a few more pickles… That means they did a great job during a busy lunch and believe me… It was busy…

Good was good, but a little bit over priced for what it was. Sweet plantains and fresh bread were great! I will go back to try the Cuban sandwich.

My first time here, going in with no expectations. Vibe was a mom and pop establishment Cuban style. Simple flavorful food, nothing fancy. Cuban basics and popular dishes. Will definitely be returning. Service was on key and polite. Never felt rushed or received a hint of impatience by waitress, very sweet young lady. Towards the end of our meal I was greeted by an older gentleman(I assumed he was manager or owner) to thank us for coming. Friendly, welcoming, good hospitality. I’ll take pictures next time I go.

I have been dining here for many years now. They serve up some authentic Cuban food. They always have a couple of specials on the board. I usually get chicken with yellow rice and plantains. It comes with a salad. And the price is under $ 7. Extremely reasonable! I would highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for Cuban food.

Small and cozy restaurant, across the street from SoDo. Really tasteful food at an affordable price. Pernil is the best! Yummy!
