Provisions & Buzz

This restaurant is new, but overly priced for the quality of the food and recipes. I got the jalapeño infused margarita, and it may well have been a generic sour mix at a dive bar. We also got the stuffed trout and pork belly kimchi. The kimchi and pickles were good, but the pork belly itself was bland, and we had to send back the trout because it was horrible. Cheese puffs were good, but the b&b salad seemed like it was made from canned beets. Do yourself a favor and go to Osprey instead!
Same owner as Jack’s Steakhouse, but they missed the mark on trying to keep up with the trends. If you’re gonna have those prices, the quality needs to be there!

This was my 4^th time visiting Provisions and Co. I will keep recomending people leaving reviews on restaurants to leave reviews after visiting the place more than one time.
The previous 3 visits were good in general. Good and consistent cocktails and food. The most recent visit our server Brynna make our visit memorable, she had a great knowledge of the menus and was attentive without being intense. For appetizer we ordered the Smoke salmon, it was perfectly cooked and great flavor. For Entrees we had the Duck breast and the stuffed trout, both dishes were perfectly executed with a great flavor profile. We also had the Cucumber cooler and the Moscow Mule (bartenders now what they are doing).
We will be back!!!

3 stars looks bad. But it’s not. If you look at the slider, 3 stars means «A-​OK.» And yes, I would say that Provisions & Buzz Co is A-​OK. That’s the short of my review. But if you stick around, I’ll tell you exactly that same sentiment using several hundred more words. That’s what a great writer does, right? Brevity is the soul of boredom.
Before I get into the actual review, let’s be honest and talk about who is a most likely Provisions customer, and specifically why they might go there. Your local Baldwin Park resident doesn’t want to leave the neighborhood. You know who you are. That’s the whole reason why we moved here. We’re trying to emulate what it’s like to live in a real city where you can just walk to where you want to go. It’s the dream. The only thing we’re missing is a subway that goes from the gym to Publix. What’s that — we do have a Subway?
Yet, Baldwin is still a bit limited in its eating options. You’ve got Seito, of course. But you’ve already been there twice this week and there’s a long wait. You’ve got Five Guys, but you generally save that for a prize after a really killer leg day, or when you just got back from a trip and need to have a comfort meal after a 9 hour flight with a baby screaming behind you. You’ve got that generic Mexican place you still haven’t tried but has a nice view of the lake (you’ll pass again). And you’ve got Subway, but honestly even in post-​apocalyptic America I’d settle for scavenging over that. That leaves you with Osprey Tavern, which is amazing in terms of quality and ambience, but their menu is a bit limited and can get pricey.
«Wait, isn’t there another option? That place where Jack’s Steakhouse used to be. What’s it called? Concessions & Fuzz Co? Supplies & Ham Flow? Oh, whatever, let’s just walk over there and look at the menu.»
And that’s how I think they get at least 50% of their customers. I honestly don’t think most of them even noticed that the name has changed. The bar is still there and they still have Miller Light, so what’s the problem? If I’ve hit your threshold of obnoxious and pretentious, my job here is done.
So how does Provisions rate as «that place you’ll walk into because you literally can’t take another minute of not wanting to cook dinner but unable to think of somewhere to eat?» It’s pretty good. I’ve been here twice and the food has been great each time. I love fish, and their stuffed trout and honey miso marinated black grouper are both decent. Their kimchi bowl isn’t exactly authentic but it’s good. The food quality/​freshness isn’t as high as Osprey but there are more entrée options at Provisions, and perhaps even a bit more variety. I think anyone can find something they like on the menu. The drink selection is OK — the beer could be better. The mixed cocktails aren’t the best you’ll find in town but it’s a pleasant offering.
Now let’s look at the downsides. Compared to Opsrey, the décor at Provisions leaves something to be desired. It’s not bad, but it’s a bit dull. And of course, there is the pricing. I think this is a symptom of their location: it can’t be cheap. But the place just doesn’t *seem* like it should warrant prices as high as they are. They need to up their game in terms of the look and feel of the restaurant, the uniqueness of their entrees, the beverage selection (needs way more craft beer on tap), etc. Or they need to lower their prices a bit. Figure out how to cut costs somewhere else to make up for it. I would come here more often if the prices were a bit lower.
The frustrating thing is that to compete with Osprey it seems like they just did the bare minimum required to update their brand and change things up. I don’t feel passion in what they’re doing. I feel like if the market pressure wasn’t there, they’d still be Jack’s Steakhouse, pushing the status quo. It feels like they didn’t change because it’s what they wanted to do; they changed it’s because what they had to do. That’s what I’m hit with as soon as I walk into the door. I mean, through the door. Whatever. Maybe I want to walk into it. Don’t judge me.
So alas, that’s how they end up being «that place you end up because you ran out of options.» It’s sad, too, because it’s not that bad of a place. The employees are very friendly and I’ve always had great service there. I don’t actually want to detract anyone from going there. I think people should go and eat there, but I also think people should encourage Provisions & Buzz Co to keep going down the route they’ve been going. Keep growing, keep changing. They *have* improved in this brand shifting. They can do better. And as Baldwin grows and potentially more competition moves in, they’ll have to.

Went here for Sunday brunch with a group of friends. I was a little concerned by how empty it was, but decided to stick with it because the menu looked great. Our waitress was pretty terrible. She was unaware of what items on the menu were no longer in the kitchen. She gave one of our friends the wrong drink, and gave me a second drink when I clearly said I didn’t want a second. Someone in our group asked for bacon in his omelet and she gave him a side of bacon. The food was otherwise good, but the waitress was very unapologetic. Will probably not go again.

The drinks are over priced but they do taste good. The Brussel sprout Caesar and tuna tartare were amazing! The fried cheese was my least favourite. Tasted like fried mashed potatoes, not cheesy at all. The gnocchi was just okay, wouldn’t order it again. Overall food was okay — service on the other hand… Terrible. The hostess who seated us made it seem like something was wrong with our table. «Is it okay if you sit here?» The way she said it made us all ask «what’s wrong with the table?!» Then we sat for 15 – 20 min while not a soul served us or brought us menus. We asked if we could get menus and we still had to wait another 5 to 10 min after asking. It wasn’t even packed, don’t know what the hold up was. We saw the servers all standing around chatting with each other. Food was good, but not sure it was good enough to put up with the slow service again.

This place was really nice. We went for Sunday brunch. Sorry guys no unlimited mimosas but they were only $ 3. Not to shabby.
I got the Truffled eggs. Completely recommend. You can get the eggs anyway you want them which is kind of strange because it says fried egg on the menu. I would probably go with over easy. I panicked and went with scrambled this time.
The bathroom is great and smelled oddly nice. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would go back. I would like to try some other menu items too.

I’ve only been to Provisions & Buzz one other time and that was just for cocktails. From what I remember, my cocktail was well made and cost $ 10 — $ 12. This time I went for brunch as there were several items on the food menu that caught my eye.
I ordered the Truffled Eggs with caramelized onions instead of pancetta. The eggs came over medium on a piece of fresh, chewy ciabatta bread with asparagus (that didn’t taste seasoned) and the onions with a few splashes of truffle oil. I’m glad the truffle oil wasn’t overwhelming. I was quite surprised that with a price tag of $ 14 it didn’t come with a side.(fruit or potatoes).
My friend ordered the Truffled Eggs as well except scrambled and with the pancetta. The pancetta was very well done and in entire strips (we were expecting it to be chopped).
We were happy with the taste and price ($ 3) of the traditional mimosas, however, it took about 10 minutes to get the mimosas once we were actual able to order them. So lesson learned, come for drinks when you’re not in a hurry because service is slow.

I was very impressed with this place… I see people giving it bad reviews and clearly they are just bitter that the other place closed. The food is delicious and it’s a fun atmosphere. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is there were some annoying people at the bar after the football game who clearly should have been cut off and sent on their way… But hey it was entertaining so you can’t complain too much.

I haven’t heard a ton of great things about this place, but haven’t heard a lot of bad things either. So walking in I was initially really excited to see what Provisions & Buzz had to offer. The answer is: not a lot.
When first walking in I was greeted warmly and brought over to a table by the bar. I asked for a drink menu which they did not have placed anywhere on the tables. Only when I looked it up on their website was one presented. I initially ordered the peach-​ambrosia mule, but when the drink came out it was a regular Moscow Mule. Only when I inquired about the lack of peach was I informed that they were out of it and changing the menu. I ended up with a grapefruit mule and loved it.
The appetizer I had was the caramelized onion and smoked Gouda quesadilla, and that was executed perfectly. For the main course I ordered the B&B Salad, which is literally just beets and special types of cheese. It was not explained that this dish was not a typical salad, so I switched out for the Brussels sprouts Caesar salad. The salad was very interesting but not terrible.
The theme of the restaurant appears to be bee based, but that is not carried on throughout their menu. Actually, the menu does not appear to have a theme at all. I will say the staff is extremely kind and patient which was the only redeeming aspect of the night. The only downside to them is the lack of knowledge about their own menu and what it has to offer.
Overall not the worst place I’ve ever been to. But I would definitely say it is not worth going out of your way to experience.

Friendly servers and hosts. Nice atmosphere. The service was slow, especially later in the meal. The food is completely mediocre, including the house specialties we tried. The food is not fresh or local or special in any way. It was fine, but not really worth a second trip with so many better options close by.

Walking into Buzz there were no expectaions, as we simply walked by and there were open tables. The resturant itself is set up well with an ample number of spaces for indoor and outdoor dining. The «honey/​bee» theme was not evident until we were sat and started digesting the décor. At first glance of the menu I noticed the prices of most of the main dishes, and while not turned away by the price they did set my expectations for elevated American cuisine.
Our waitress was attentive and very apologetic for even the slightest delay in service. We ordered a bottle of wine and garlic bread (at a near outrageous price tag of $ 8 for something you normally receive for free) to start. The wine was good for its price point but the bread was mildly overcooked and bland. On a high note the butter had hints of honey that made it slightly more rich than normal.
For dinner we ordered: the pork belly and Kimchi, half chicken and seafood stew. The Pork Belly was well cooked and the combination of flavor worked well for the dish. The Seafood Stew, however, included a handful of undercooked bivalves and was lacking any real flavor. While mussels that are still able to sing to you are unappetizing the chicken was possibly the definition of poultry mediocrity. Dry, tasteless and unappealing the best part of this dish was the squash and zucchini succatash, which oddly enough, did not resemble any succatash I have ever seen.
With a total price tag of over $ 100 for three people the food underdelivered and the kitchen seems horribly inconsistent with quality from dish to dish. The waitstaff, with their workerbee mentality, and décor are the saving graces for this venue. The experience will not prevent me from dining at the resturant again but it will make me skeptical about the quality of food.

love the re-​brand they just did here! feels fresh and vibrant inside. just a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere.
came on a busy night and sat at the bar. service was so attentive! there was a wide menu of craft cocktails, and bartender gave us insightful recommendations when we told her about our tastes. and our gin blossoms were great. the sage gnocchi, fried brussel caesar (!!!) and tuna tartare all hit the mark.
$ 2.50 tacos on Tuesdays, and $ 5 burger night. perfect for a local neighborhood spot. can’t wait to go back for their brunch :)

Just went there for NYE. They had a 4 course prix fixe menu which wasn’t noted on OpenTable. Brought our entrees before our apps and made us decide if we wanted them. Had 3 different items that were room temp at best and had to send one of them back. Messed up a special instruction on salad. Server was nice but was stretched too thin. Was NOT worth the money.
WE WILL NOT BE BACK and completely disappointed and shocked there was not an adjustment to the bill being that I ate my entrée before my appetizer.
DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE.

WE MISS JACK’s :(
My boyfriend and I live in Baldwin Park and frequently dined at Jack’s (our favorite place in downtown Baldwin proper) because we loved the service, drinks, and the food! Jack’s had THE best lobster bisque we’ve ever had. We loved the dark, cozy atmosphere of the classic steak house. Our favorite bar tenders and servers confided in us that they were leaving because they did not support the changes.
Why change a good thing? Why fix something that is clearly not broken? Unfortunately, Provisions & Buzz, Co.(previously Jack’s Steakhouse) is an abysmal attempt to compete with Prato, Cask & Larder, Ravenous Pig, and Osprey Tavern (which in it’s own right, not worth the money). Steer clear of Osprey Tavern and Provisions & Buzz. Your pallet and wallet are better served at Orlando’s other, finer gastro pubs. Unilocal makes me give it at least one star… We’d give it zero if we could :(

I stumbled upon Provisions this past weekend & ended up there for several hours enjoying beer at the bar & watching NFL football — yes, friends, that’s called winning. I like that Baldwin Park now has another option for sports lovers who just want to sit back, watch sports on multiple screens, & enjoy beer, cocktails & food at reasonable prices.
I enjoyed the goat cheese enchiladas which were a nice spin on one of my favorite Mexican staples. That said, looking at the food on the menu I couldn’t tell you what their focus is. Though they claim to have American food there’s a little bit of everything on the menu; I think they can benefit from some focus. I’m sure they’ll work out the kinks as they continue to be in operation. In all, a decent place to hang out with friends.

We came to Baldwin after what appears to have been the parade so kids everywhere, big groups, and unrealistic wait times BUT this place had three spots at the bar so we came in, it looked cool, and we didn’t have anywhere else honestly. The drink menu was good and it tasted pretty okay. The food was expensive and NOT WORTH IT. I had a $ 15 burger but it looked and tasted like a $ 6 burger. The cheese puffs were weird and the wings were overcooked. Cute interior and good ambiance but come full.

I received an email this morning from Provisions and Buzz Co. offering a $ 5.00 burger special tonight. The offer specified that the burger is normally priced $ 15.00. I looked at their menu and saw one burger listed, the «STEAK BURGER House-​ground and served on a ciabatta bun with lettuce, tomato and onion with your choice of cheese, served with fries.» The burger is listed as costing $ 15.00. I assumed that this would be the burger I would get for the deal. However, upon arriving I was told the $ 5 burger was a smaller 4 ounce burger and did not include fries.
The burger itself was okay but tasted like a burger that they were trying to save money on. Also, it had WAY too much raw onion on it. I ordered a side of fries to go with my burger. I like my fries salty, but these were too salty, even for me.
The new design of the space is nice and inviting. Their new menu might be delicious. However, I felt like their offer was misleading and they offered a sub-​par discounted special burger, so I won’t be returning.

Giving this place 3 stars with room for improvement. They just opened, so it’s understandable that they have a few kinks to work out.
Before walking in, we were told it is «fresh American food.» I think they’re confused about their brand identity. A lot of the items on the menu were Asian fusion, which is cool, but unexpected when the restaurant is touted as something else. They do have roast chicken, a burger, duck and steak on the menu, so maybe we just ordered the items that were Asian fusion.
THE FOOD:
We got the cheese puff appetizer, the fried snapper and the miso grouper.
The cheese puffs were awesome. The food took a long time to come out (surprising for how slow they were, but a kink that will surely be worked out the longer the restaurant is around) so they were a lifesaver. Highly recommend.
The fried snapper– it is a whole fish. Be expecting to look into a fish face while you eat. The fish was tasty, but I was told the salad dressing was too exotic and that a starch would have made the dish better. I was thinking grilled or sautéed veggies including a squash would go well. I actually liked this meal best.
The grouper– it had a miso sauce and was served over rice, surrounded by grilled green onions. The presentation was beautiful. It was a bit salty for me, but that’s to be expected with miso. I also feel like the grouper is a pretty meaty fish for the delicate miso flavor. Maybe a lighter/​thinner/​more buttery fish would have been better in this dish. The rice had big pieces of ginger in it, which was surprising. I could have just missed that on the menu. Even though the onions were pretty, I would have preferred something else green to eat with that meal.
Next time, I would try the kimchee pork rice dish.
Based on the name, the music, all of the bee hive looking décor, the mason jars with baby’s breath on the tables, I feel like they’re going for a hipster vibe. I wasn’t a fan of the music.
The menus looked like a mistake, the print was too small for the page and was pretty hard to see. The lighting was also pretty harsh in some areas. When I think hipster watering hole with fresh fare, I want it to seem a little more romantic. I was also put off by the $ 40 price tag for an 8 oz steak. You could easily go to $ 80 per person with a salad, a steak and a couple of cocktails.
I think this place could be great with some fine tuning. I kind of felt like the brand was all over the place, but the food was pretty tasty.

We went to Provisions & Buzz Co. for dinner last night. Our drinks were made really well– I got the Moscow Mule and my husband got the Old Fashioned. We started with the cheese puffs which are the consistency of churros. We thought they were pretty good and creative– perfect gastropub food. We ordered the grouper special and were disappointed in the taste– it was clear the fish was not fresh. We tried the pineapple upside-​down cake and were unfortunately disappointed with that as well. The presentation was really nice, but when I broke into it with my fork the cake crumbled all around. It had a chemical-​quality, like it was a store bought cake with some kind of preservative that tasted weird when heated. We both had a bite and pushed it aside. We’ll probably come back to sit at the bar, have some drinks and listen to live music, but we probably wont try the food again.

We stopped in for a quick bite while they are still running their soft opening. John the bartender gave us quite a few recommendations as the entire menu is new. We chose the Sage Gnocchi and Garlic Board, both were great for splitting and SUPER flavorful. Chef Josh came to check on us right away for our opinion, and Becky and John were SUPER attentitive as always. Crystal was off but is always amazing as well. Our friend had the grouper and garlic bread appetizer which they raved about.
As Baldwin residents we are so happy to have a friendly spot with good plates for sharing right in the neighborhood!
