Stopped in for lunch to grab a quick bite to eat. First there was no air conditioning on I was the only customer in a huge space with very little Decour. I ordered the lunch special three combo rolls and when it came to the table I put the Philadelphia roll in my mouth and quickly had to spit it out because it smelled horrible and tasted very bad. they quickly gave me something else new to eat but after that bad taste it was not good. I would not recommend

Close to work and has a good lunch menu. I am happy! I had discovered this restaurant one day while running errands in the plaza and we decided to give it a try. We are simple in our taste so we ordered a few rolls off the lunch menu. We were wowed(is that how you say it) by the presentation. I have never been anywhere that takes such care to make your food this pretty at lunch. Kudo’s to you. The rolls were of good size and quite tasty. Definitely a go-to for us now when craving some rolls at lunch.

Ever since I’ve been able to talk Chad into trying the veggie rolls at a local sushi joint, he’s been a willing participant to join me when I get a craving for raw fish. I have always joked about the endless supply of pizza and Chinese restaurants on every corner in Orlando. Lately, I’ve noticed that the same goes for sushi. You can get sushi in any neighborhood in Orlando. A few years ago, in a shopping plaza at the corner of Turkey Lake and Conroy in West Orlando there stood a local bar called Froggers. When that closed, a karoke bar opened briefly in this location, and that didn’t last very long. Today, in that same spot stands a place called Satini Sushi and Tioca Bar. I had to look up what«tioca» was. All I could find was that it was a omnivorous cooncat. After going over to the Satini website, I’ve learned it is a sushi taco. Interesting. We ducked in for lunch on a weekday afternoon. The menu is pretty extensive– your usual sushi fare– California, Eel and Spicy Avocado rolls. Then there is the tioca menu. Sushi in a tapioca shell with varieties such as salmon, tuna or octopus. We, however, opted for the lunch specials. For $ 7.95, you get a choice of three from a list of sushi rolls. Add $ 1 for a soup or salad. I’ve never had a salad with ginger dressing that I didn’t like. However basic, it’s always iceberg lettuce with a few carrot strings and tomatoes topped with a ginger dressing. It’s the same everywhere. Chad tried the Avocado Roll, the Sweet Cucumber Roll and in an unexpected twist for him– the Philadelphia Roll. The Avocado Roll was nothing special– just avocado wrapped in nori and rice. The Sweet Cucumber Roll was a bit different. Cucumber wrapped in seaweed and rice then topped with a sweet melon sauce. There wasn’t much«melon» in the sauce but it was nice and unexpected. It made the cucumber roll a little less boring. But that’s just me. I am a little more adventurous. I also ordered the Philadelphia Roll– smoked salmon with cream cheese. The same as everywhere else. I also had the California Roll. Also the same as everywhere else. «Krab», cucumber and avocado. However, what I really enjoyed was the Typhoon Roll. Whitefish, avocado, scallions, eel sauce and berries wrapped in nori and rice then deep fried. It was incredible! In looking over the menu, there are plenty of unique offerings including rolls with watermelon sauce and mango. I didn’t try any of those as they weren’t included in the lunch special, but I am intrigued enough for another visit.

I came in at three asking for a happy hour menu & my host told me that it wasn’t until four. As he sat me down, I saw him & his friend put out a «happy hour» flag outside and now it is always there. I didn’t bother asking about it. I ordered a Thai tea boba and my boba was old. I tried to just let that pass and just ordered something as simple as tofu & broccoli. It was the saltiest thing that I have ever tasted. After one bite, I thought maybe it’s because I didn’t eat it with my rice. I took one more and I couldn’t do it. I requested a new dish with my server, who is also the owner, & she went on about how her chef was in training and she would give me ten percent off. No. I couldn’t even eat it and she wanted me to pay for it. On the way out, I heard her tell her chef in Vietnamese, «I keep telling you stop making the food so salty! The girl couldn’t even eat it.» She didn’t know I understood her. I paid. I left, and I tell all my clients about my experience. UPDATE: After she saw this review, she responded to it through a Unilocal message where you can read in the tips.

We drove up from Miami and were in the mood for sushi. I asked Siri to find the closest sushi restaurant and up popped Satini. We were surprised they were open at the odd hour(4pm) and we sat down for dinner. The place was very clean and fresh. Has a large bar reminiscent of a sports bar and was quite roomy for a sushi restaurant where we are typically used to being crammed into a small table in between 2 other tables. The waitress was attentive, helped us with selections and pointed out some unique items they serve. We had the bubble tea, phở and some sushi rolls. We were impressed with how fresh and clean tasting the sushi was and how flavorful it was. Sauces were very unique and tasty. The prices were reasonable and our bill was fair. We will definitely be back for more. It was the best sushi we’ve had in a very long time!

I feel bad for this place because its really good and not getting the business it deserves. Tried this place after discussing a few times with the BF. He’s not as adventurous as I, so he was expecting the worst. He was wrong and admitted it! We each had a roll and a tioca. My roll was wrapped in tapioca vs seaweed, couldn’t tell expect less chewy. Tasty and fresh. BFs roll was white diamond and he enjoyed. good sweet with crunch. The tiocas were delicious! He had spicy tuna and I had yellowtail. both were flavorful as the ticoa(tapioca shell) was flavorless so you taster the fish and toppings. We will definitely be back, hopefully before they close!

I came here hoping to get some inexpensive sushi with a unique blend but was honestly quite disappointed. The place was completely deserted when I went there(during Thanksgiving time) The summer roll we got was mostly lettuce and dough and barely any shrimp in it. The sushi was just Okay. What I really didn’t like about it was the mushy bad quality rice in the sushi. The fish they put in each piece was tiny. The only cool thing about the sushi here is the sauce that they put on top of each unique roll, giving each roll a special flavor to it.

I ventured out to have dinner with a friend at this sushi place, not knowing what to expect. I(like any good Unilocaler would) read the reviews, and was on the fence on whether I would enjoy it. As we walked in, we faced every employee jumping up to help us, because the place was absolutley empty. I actually felt bad for the employees having not one table at 730 at night. I was also concerned there might be a reason there was no one else there. We were seated prmptly, and each decided on a saketini(sake and fruit juice) I was floored when my watermelon saketini had FRESH watermelon juice! They had me right then and there. So here is a break down of how the rest of the meal went: 1. I ordered the tempura sampler for an appitizer. It came with one piece each of brocolli, zuchinni, sweet potato, onion, and a cute little shrimp. For the price the amount was fine, however the batter is not the traditional tempura batter. Not a deal breaker for me, just different. 2. Shrimp tempura Tioca– Now this was the highlight! I was willing to try something new and different and boy was this it. With the looks of a taco but the soul of sushi these handheld babies pack a flavor a texture punch you simply are not expecting. The«shell» is made of tapioca, and because this root(which tapioca is, a root) is flavorless, it allows the flavors of the rest of the food stand out.(I may have stolen some of the spiel from the lovely owner/manager when she stopped by the table to chat with us). Even better 0 carbs! you read that right the shell is 0 carbs. Now what is inside the shell is another story, but you can at least feel better shoving it in your pie hole. 3. Sauces– Another neat thing Satini does is unusal sauces meant to compliment the different rolls and Tioca. I believe I had taro, and some sort of berry sauce on my food, and was pleasently surprised at the light flavor the sauces gave. They were a nice compliment to the rest of the food. 4. The only item I did not enjoy was the miso soup.(which is a weird thing not to enoy). The seaweed in the soup had a very fishy taste to it, so I chose not to finish it. I will be back to try some of the other tioca and rolls, and I am looking forward to telling others about this funky little place.

We’re greeted and sat right away, the waitress was very helpful and explained the menu to us. The sushi was good, the tioca concept is very interesting. Would definitely go back!

Great sushi. This is my favorite place to go when I can round up some friends. Everything is presented extremely well and is always delicious. It can be expensive, but hey, thats sushi for ya. Overall this is an awesome place and I look forward to my next visit.

My gf and I have been here twice and will definitely come back for more. Large menu, creative rolls with unique sauces… Yes, sauces for your rolls! Located in a shopping center that has had some really big bombs, most people probably just assume it’s another bad sushi place. It’s definitely not. We go to sushi places all the time so we know good sushi when we have it. Santini has quality food at great prices and awesome service. Definitely worth giving a try. I bet you’ll come back.

My girlfriend and I have been here twice, and both times were great. We have yet to try the rest of the menu, so this review speaks mainly for their sushi. It’s delicious! We highly recommend the Double S for lovers of eel and smoked flavors and the Dynamite roll for fried roll lovers. The dynamite was better than the volcano, and the Double S better than the Longfin Eel, in our opinion. They do some creative savory /sweet mixtures with the sauces they put on their rolls– if you don’t like that, ask for the sauce on the side. If you do(like us) you will LOVE it. On top of all that, they have Mochi!!! The service is great and the people very friendly. This place, unlike many sushi places, can also accommodate a large crowd, which is awesome. VERY good!

This place mixes a variety of Asian cuisines, although sushi dominates. There’s a bit of Vietnamese, and some Chinese, too. I actually wish they’d go farther with the fusion concept. Also it would be helpful if dishes has their traditional names. For example, they have their own version of Bahn Mi sandwiches, but they are simply called Vietnamese style sandwiches. I think they underestimate their customers. Anyway, the Vietnamese vermicelli bowl I had was excellent, with a nice crispy spring roll and very tasty fish sauce. The did a pretty good job of redecorating this place from a sports bar, although it will be better when the smell of paint subsides. Service is friendly and helpful.

I’ll say this plainly; this is obviously a sports bar converted into a Pan-Asian affair and I am thinking they fell a little short. I know they are both Japanese affairs but sushi and karaōke go together like an apple pie filled with sliced hot dogs in my book. But let me put down my glass of hater-ade as I think someone had a good idea here. For the variety offered in this campy environment I need to hand out props for the level of creativity. But one step at a time grasshopper! Go hometown, focus on tricking out your menu and flavor first. Its seems someone is trying entirely too hard on creating a model business rather than a good dining experience. Let the word of mouth do the advertising for you folks. The Youtube video is also over the top, take it easy super cats… you AREN’T ALLTHAT. Let’s call this a sports bar with a sushi menu. Hmmm, yeah that’s basically it. I don’t see this taking off but hey, lets see if it lasts or disappears like Fuji Sushi did. The menu contains the basics and I find myself unimpressed with the dish presentations. They too have a sports bar feel and I’ll everyone else dare disagree. I ordered the basic rolls and they satiated me. In the realm of sushi I would call this an average experience. I also had a yakisoba soup concoction that required lots of hot sauce to give it the needed flavor. Between this place and the former Fuji Sushi I would choose Fuji Sushi. Quite honestly I won’t be back. However there are other items on the menu that might please the locals in need of something Asian. I’ll give this spot one star above meh…

On 1st impression, we almost left. but I’m glad we forged onward — this spot could have potential. It is a huge space(formerly Frogger’s), so they have SF to do damn near anything. They have a small patio, which is cool & they’re adjacent to a shisha lounge(although I didn’t get a warm fuzzy when we strolled in after dinner (damn, I miss the old Alchemy!) anyhoo. We were the only guests, so svc was quick. Sake menu wasn’t impressive & menu was not benchmarked for what they possess. They have created their OWN wraps, shells(from tapioca) & sushi burgers on grilled sushi rice«buns». Shout THAT from the eaves to sep yourself from the other sushi restaurants on autopilot. Tioca wraps are low calorie, low carb, easily digestible for tikes & cocoon crew alike. Take that, estrogen inducing soy paper. They are new & don’t have my sashimi staples, but perhaps some other Unilocalers will suggest(hint: uni, ikura, quail egg, baby octopus) Some ambient lighting & tasty tunes would be a plus; reminiscent of fave sushi joints down south(what up, JO!) Also, on a side note. I think they need Drag Karaōke 1 night a week.

Had 4 different rolls, including one of the tioca rolls. Tioca is short for tapioca. A thin layer of tapioca is added to hold the roll together. All of the rolls were delicious and fresh. We also had the spicy edamame. It had just enough kick. I also saw on the menu that they have phở, banh mi, and boba drinks. I will definitely go back to try some of these Vietnamese offerings. Our server was very friendly and made many suggestions. We were the only patrons in the restaurant so service was very quick. They also had a special on bottle beer that night so that was a plus. The dining room is quite large, decorated nicely and clean. You should give it a try. I enjoyed it, I think you will too.

With just a slight Vietnamese influence, Satini by far bests the two nearby sushi restaurants I’ve tried on Restaurant Row: Seito and Amura. Satini is located in a strip mall at the intersection of Turkey Lake and Conroy Roads. I hope for the best for Satini because on my first visit I was already figuring to be a regular there. The full-bar restaurant with a large bar in the center is spacious and attractive, with soothing green walls, and the menu will impress. I began with a Shrimp Ramen Noodle soup with zucchini and broccoli, served in a phở-sized bowl. It was simply delicious. Ask for the hot sauce to give it some spice. Salmon sashimi and eel nigiri were fresh and well-presented. I also had two rolls, the best being the«Wheel of Colors,» consisting of tuna, yellowtail, salmon, roe and avocado. For dessert, I had a small mocha«Moose Shot,» a mousse with five percent alcohol served in a large shot glass. I searched Google, Wikipedia and Dictionary.Com for«tioca» and came up empty. Tioca as explained by my very helpful waiter(I didn’t get her name), is similar to a taco but with no flavor. It’s filled with sashimi — an interesting concept. Fuji Sushi and G&G Thai have failed to make it at this shopping center. It seems that only Jersey Mike’s has had success at this location. I hope Satini will have better luck. On Fridays and Saturdays, they feature karaōke starting at 10:00 pm.
