The Point Orlando Resort

Stayed here in March 2015 while visiting the Universal parks. This place is a great location and they have shuttles to the park. It is also a great location for getting to the restaurants and bars on International Blvd. The room was very reasonably priced for being so large and having a kitchenette. We didn’t use it much but it also had a nice pool area. Definitely would stay here again.

Stayed at The Point Orlando Resort during a 4.5 day vacation with the boyfriend in December 2015. We would totally stay here again and frequently talk about when we can visit again. This will be our go-​to Orlando accommodations in the future. Here’s why.
1) Affordability: had a high-​level pool-​view one bedroom suite room with full kitchen, got a special by booking a certain amount of time in advance that also came with a gift card and paid for our groceries for the week so we could eat a few meals at the hotel before hitting the parks
2) Location: Excellent location with minimal fare Über/​Lyft rides to Universal. Even Disney wasn’t that badly priced. Right near International Drive for restaurants and groceries (although we didn’t make it to a restaurant once).
3) Amenities: Pool and hot tub were clean — we enjoyed both. Poolside bar. This was hit or miss — the first couple of nights the bartender was great. Unfortunately the menu features specialty cocktails that look nothing like what we ordered and stated they come with a collectors glass with the *high* price of the cocktail — instead they came in a plastic cub for the same price. The second to last night the bartender was different and was frankly quite rude. We were hoping to watch a sporting event (rather than the HGTV or whatever channel was on) and she rudely stated she «didn’t usually work here and we could figure out the remotes ourselves». So we promptly did not give her a penny, went up to the room and watched the game on our TV and relaxed in peace with our own wine we got with the gift card (see above). Otherwise the staff was friendly and accommodating.
4) Room: When we walked in the bed was full of kisses, towel swans and rose petals. This was our first trip together and made it extra special (for me, anyway). The pool view was gorgeous to wake up to. We also enjoyed ordering pizza and drinking wine on the balcony with the pool view after a long day at the parks. The kitchen was a FULL kitchen — it literally had everything my apartment has. The bathroom was large with a jet tub (we didn’t use this, went down to the hot tub instead) and walk-​in shower with extra room for the toilet. Fresh towels and freshly made bed every morning. The room was exquisitely clean.
The only negative things I can think to say is about the rude bartender and the lack of free continental breakfast, which many hotels in the area do include and would make the cost even more affordable.
Can’t wait to visit The Point again!

We arrived rather late and due to «occupancy issues» we were told our room had been upgraded. We had a second floor suite with a balcony overlooking the pool. The suite was very spacious and clean but the bed was uncomfortable. Our first day there our maid only gave us fresh towels. She never made our bed nor emptied our trash. Not really a huge issue but did factor into my rating. Elevators were extremely slow. We waited 20 minutes once because both times they were being occupied by staff with either the maid carts or mattresses. I would have taken the stairs but they were at the opposite end which I didn’t realize until I asked. Our biggest issue was the smell of sewage. We didn’t smell it continuously but we did smell it on and off our entire stay. My husband told the front desk they had a septic issue which they denied but the smell and the puddles on top of the grass spoke otherwise (it hadn’t rained in several days). The shower also didn’t drain very well. Management was very nice and friendly but we won’t be back.

I love this place! It’s a great hotel for the price! I travel to Orlando for business a lot and always stay here. I usually book the 1 bedroom Suite. It’s spacious, clean, and has a fully equipped kitchen, which is great for a long stay. The hotel is also very quiet, unlike other Orlando area hotels. The front desk staff is always super friendly and efficient. I definitely would recommend staying at The Point Orlando resort and I will be staying here again on my next trip!

I am updating my recent 1 star review to 3 stars. They are in the process of updating the building to improve future stays. Florida is know for ghost ants (not mites) and that is what was found in our room. They moved us to a clean bug free room with a beautifully view and they were sincerely sorry for the inconvenience. They gave us drink vouchers and breakfast vouchers and credited us of all fees and the lunch we ordered previously and said they would credit us for 1 nights stay because of the issues (credit pending from third party site). The staff is very friendly and approachable. It is conveniently located to most attractions. The shuttle will take you to Universal Studios, Epcot, and SeaWorld with specific times. This place is fairly priced for what it is.

Room is clean with a kitchenette. But
Room wasn’t freshened up until we requested. Won’t leave us even an extra moisturizer. Safe was locked upon arrival. There was work being done in lobby and the whole place was covered in dust.

Stayed here 4 nights for a ‘girls weekend getaway.” Had requested a room with Balcony and pool view — did not get either. Stayed in a double king room which was ok, however, some major infractions were found: bathroom floor was yucky (shirt button in plastic sleeve) was behind the trash can upon arrival and was still there when we checked out. Windows were filthy, very difficult to determine outside weather or sunshine level. Room had a single Keurig coffee maker, however, hotel only provides 1^st night (3 K cups). One bed had holes in the fitted sheet and a large tear in a top sheet. Bathroom was small with very little space to hold any personal items. Bathroom counter, sink and mirror was never cleaned after our arrival. Kitchen counter also never cleaned. Most upsetting was the carpet, not only ugly but quite work, several stains and never vacummed well — as we were constantly finding ‘chunky things’ on our shoes, socks and feet. Bartenders at «cabana» with the exception of one Sunday afternoon were unfriendly and seemed annoyed to be there. Many guests were smokers (including my travel partner) and there was only one ashtray on the entire property. Prior to departing had lunch with a friend and for convenience, once again tried the Cabana — girl behind bar was pleasant however when I ordered a Caesar Salad, I was told there were no croutons available — so I ordered a BLT with Fries, my companion ordered a Turkey wrap with fries. Then we were told they were changing the oil and the fries would be delayed. BLT and wrap came with no available mayonaise. Upon finishing our sandwiches (and chips, as the fries were still not done) A gentlemen did eventually find mayo, however we had finished lunch — and then our fries showed up. He compensated buy purchasing one glass of wine for me (nice gesture but would not recommend eating here again)
Highlight of our stay here, was both JOSH — the bellman and Favio the front desk attendant. Both were very pleasant and made our visit to the Point Orlando more tolerable.

Loved it here! We stayed over Halloween weekend and didn’t get in until midnight because our flight was delayed. Even though it was late, the staff was sooooooo nice and accommodating. Our room had a pool view which I didn’t request or expect, so that was a nice surprise! Everything was incredibly clean. The location was great — we took the shuttle to Disney the next morning, and it was a quick drive to Epcot and then an even quicker connecting bus to Magic Kingdom (the monorails were down).
That was the only time we took the shuttle all weekend, as the times weren’t convenient for when we wanted to go or leave, but Ubers everywhere were cheap. They were under $ 5 back and forth to Universal, and around $ 15 to Downtown Disney/​home from Magic Kingdom. The shuttle runs three times a day to and from Epcot, Universal, and I think one other location, so it isn’t that they don’t offer enough times, it was that we were on a different schedule.
Each morning I had coffee in the lobby before we left. There’s a quick service counter like a Starbucks, almost, where they have coffee and pastries you can buy, and then there’s also an all you can eat buffet breakfast, though it’s pretty lacking and small. Not really worth the money, but I didn’t eat it, so I don’t know. The coffee was good and the staff was friendly.
Our room was nice. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but it was clean and spacious, and everything we needed replaced (towels, shampoo, etc) was done so without asking. I would stay here again. You can’t beat the location or price. I didn’t have any issues checking in or out, which is more than I could ever ask for. Our Über to the airport was also under $ 20, though we did take a cab FROM the airport TO the hotel when we got in (Ubers are not allowed to pick up from the airport) and it cost $ 50. Other than that, our whole stay here was great.

The location is not as nice as everyone makes it out to be. Yes is close to the Universal parks but the location needs to be cleaned up. I stayed at The Point last week and there was a shooting right outside across the street at glitz nightclub. We didn’t feel safe walking around prior and couldn’t wait to check out after the shooting. There was about 50 cop cars swarming the area as well as helicopters. Apparently the area and the club «Glitz» in particular is crime ridden and there have been multiple shootings there.
I’m n to the hotel. The staff was extremely nice. The building location has a lot of empty land and lots around it. Looking out the window was not visually appealing. We even had a pool view room. The rooms were pretty clean. I wouldn’t say immaculate. The furniture in the room was very old both physically and style wise and worn. Scratches in the wood table and dressers. The couch was something out of a 70s movie. Dark maroon leather couch. Damage to the couch as well. The distance from the parks was ideal but other than that this is an over priced hotel. Not a resort as it states. Parking was impossible if you came back after 11pm. We parked wrong the sidewalk which was probably illegal. Against fire lane codes. Would not stay here again.

The main thing that people want to know. would I stay here again? No. Why you may ask? Because there are tons of other hotels to choose from in Orlando. Was my stay horrible? No, but it wasn’t worth the money in my opinion. I stayed here on Sunday night and my main reason for choosing this specific hotel was because I was told on the phone before I booked that it was right across the street from Universal Studios which was in fact not true. Now I guess I am partially to blame for not looking it up myself just to verify that indeed it was but nonetheless I didn’t.
The most annoying thing about the hotel was that there was barely any hot water when I went to shower and on top of the barely warm water I was standing in about 3 – 4 inches of standing water because the drain was clogged. NOT COOL! During my checkout I mentioned those two things and her response was did I call the front desk so they could send maintenance to fix it? My response back was no I didn’t because checkout was at 11 am and I didn’t want to risk being charged extra because I didn’t get out of my room in time.
Bottom line is she ended up waiving the $ 12 resort fee for my inconvenience. I paid $ 125 to sleep in a not so comfy bed, so I’ll look for something better next time.

I recently stayed here on vacation with my boyfriend since it’s close to both Wet’n’Wild & Universal theme parks. The hotel looked nice and clean, staff was very friendly and accommodating, but truthfully, our experience was so-​so.
We had a room on the 9^th floor with view of the pool downstairs and the parks in the distance. I liked that our single room had a kitchenette with a mini-​fridge, microwave, plates and silverware. Our king size bed was alright, but it did sort of sink in on the righthand side, which wasn’t terrible but I did notice it immediately. The hotel had free wi-​fi, but it was pretty spotty and I lost connection a few times in our room. Bathroom was a nice size, but didn’t have basic amenities like q-​tips, toothpaste or mouthwash and there was no lock on the door. My boyfriend actually found a bug one night in there, but when we told Juliana at the front desk, she kindly comped their «resort fee» as an apology. «Full» housekeeping facilities were an extra fee, but they remade the beds with the same sheets every morning and replaced towels we used for free. It was obvious deep cleaning wasn’t a major concern, and appearing clean was adequate enough.
My biggest complaint is that this hotel charges for everything. When we checked in, the front desk told us we were «VIP elite» members for booking through Expedia and said we received free amenities because of it. They really meant 4 water bottles and some chocolate covered strawberries. Breakfast was not included in our «VIP package» as it turned out, although we were given all the information about breakfast service without anyone mentioning it was an extra fee. They wanted $ 12 per person for the «breakfast buffet» which offered your basic hotel breakfast. They did comp us breakfast on the first morning, since we weren’t given the right information upon check-​in. They also charged for shuttle service to the theme parks, so we opted to drive ourselves and just pay the parking fees.
The best part of our stay was thanks to the poolside bartender, Alyssa. She was so friendly & personable, and made my bf and I feel right at home. She recommended awesome drinks and provided speedy food & beverage service. We ordered a chicken quesadilla and chicken tenders with fries, which had some great-​tasting seasoning on them. The food was delicious, which I didn’t expect from a hotel bar, and I’m pretty sure she cooked it on top of bartending and serving everyone else at the pool. We would come back just for the incredible service Alyssa and the rest of the concierge staff provided.
Long story short: nice hotel, but definitely not a resort, friendly staff and a great poolside bar.

We checked in around 10pm. They keep the carts locked up so we ended up tipping the the bellmen, Josh, to bring our bags to the room. It was worth it in my opinion. Friendly staff. Parking was easy. Got reservations on
for $ 100/​night plus a $ 11 daily resort fee. Free parking, smoke free. Clean rooms, wifi is free, but slow. Went to the pool it is salt water. Towels are available at the pool. Nice atmosphere around the pool. Overall, good experience and would stay again.

I’ve always been a big fan of this hotel. Stayed here before with friends but never got a chance to take good pics and write a review… until now. Location is not on I-​drive so you most likely will need a car and they have plenty of parking for guests. It’s kinda walking distance to Wet n Wild and Universal but might be hike for some. They do offer shuttle to the parks. The room I stayed at was on the 3^rd floor w/​the view of the back parking lot. Here are some highlights:
1) Staff was very friendly and professional. There was a quite a wait during check-​in so they waived the resort fee.
2) Stayed at the Grand 1 Bedroom Suite and it was enormous. More than enough space for 4 people.
3) Full kitchen w/​fridge, micro, stove, coffee maker, blender, toaster, dishwasher, highball & wine glasses, some cookware, utensils.
4) Living & dining combo area w/​pullout sofa. The balcony complete with patio chairs was a plus.
5) LCD TVs in both bedroom and living room.
6) Big size closets in living room and bedroom. Lots of cabinet drawers too.
7) Bathroom was large. Separate whirlpool tub, shower & toilet.
8) Comfy king size bed w/​laundry fresh linens.
9) Nice pool area with outdoor bar showing sports. Good drinks too.
10) Lobby café called Barista served breakfast buffet and Starbucks coffee.
This is one my favorite hotels in Orlando. It’s not on the I-​drive strip but that’s ok. It’s clean, well maintained and service is great. The rate I paid for the suite was decent…$ 106 plus $ 11 bucks resort fee on Memorial Day weekend. So between 4 people, this is a bargain for nice accommodations. Will definitely stay here again but I’ll ask for a higher floor room with a better view.

The good.
–Close enough to everything, but not too close… like can enjoy the area without being exactly IN in the area.
–I love that the rooms have a little kitchen, I stayed in a regular king suite.
–The outside bar and grill area was wonderful, the drinks were good and not too expensive.
–The on site fitness center was great.
–The staff were very pleasant and courteous.
–The salt water pool was awesome.
The bad.
–The bed. oh my god. for over $ 100 a night, you would EXPECT a pillowtop mattress, This mattress feels like the ones you see people leave by dumpsters behind walmart. I felt every spring, it was noisey to even turn over. now my back, shoulders, ect are killing me.
–The breakfast buffet is way overpriced. $ 11 for cereal and bagels? really?
–They went the cheap route on a lot. you can tell. The towels feel cheap, the toilet paper is what you would find in a public rest room, no mouth wash, wifi is spotty, ect. again for $ 100+ a night, you would expect a bit more
–They were redoing their parking lot before we came, it would have been nice for a email to everyone that was about to head down there, saying. hey btw, were redoing our lot.
–When booking, I asked for a quiet room, I got. no lie. first floor, right next to the pool. Not only are the walls super thin, the pool deck is very noisy.
Overall this place is just okay, good for a extended stay maybe, I know some suites come with full kitchens, washer and dryer ect. The staff is nice.
as for me, for 2 nights, I will chose to pay just a bit more for much nicer next time.

Everything about this hotel (service, price, room size and cleanliness, and pool) is excellent until you spend $ 50 for a family of 4 on a breakfast buffet that I might not eat at if it were free.
I’d stay here again, but wouldn’t eat here. Also the drinks at the pool bar are good.

I am very hard to impress in customer service and I can say confidently that this is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The customer service was the best I’ve received. That goes a long way in today’s world where it’s hard to find anyone who even cares about customers anymore. Everyone we worked with was so friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and made us feel at home. We arrived early and they were happy to hold our luggage for us while we went to the park.
We stayed in a one bedroom suite (W/​D, fully applianced kitchen, dishes, plates, cups, silverware, Keurig, laundry detergent, TV in each room, pull out couch, table & chairs, HUGE bathtub/​bathroom) which was clean and beautiful. Shortly after our arrival, the General Manager called us to make sure we were happy and asked if we needed anything.
The pool area is modern and updated and is equipped with an outdoor bar. The food is OK but the drinks were great. The whole entire resort has free Wi-​Fi. I didn’t have any issues accessing it. One feature I LOVED about The Pointe is that you have to sign up for the shuttle to and from, which is great so that you don’t have to worry about beating other people to it or worrying about making it on.
We walked to Universal one day, which took us about 20 minutes to the entrance. An Über is only about $ 5. There is an IHOP about a 10 – 12 minute walk away, but the hotel does do a buffet breakfast (just OK) for $ 10-​$ 15 with coffee included. Overall extremely pleasant experience and I would HIGHLY recommend staying here if you don’t mind being about a mile from Universal.

We had a large party of 10 for a Bachelorette party. Although we had attempted an early check-​in, we patiently waited at the poolside bar for an hour and a half until the guaranteed check-​in time of 4pm. At 4:15, our room was still only partially ready, and our group was growing restless, as we needed to refresh in time for 7pm dinner reservations. After a little frustration, management relocated us to another set of adjoining rooms, and credited $ 50 back to our card. Not a completely perfect experience, but management worked hard to rectify the situation, and their commitment to excellent customer service was definitely appreciated. The bell hop was awesome, too… Moving a ton of bags and party goodies with a smile.

Stayed here for my best friend’s birthday about a year ago with a bunch of college kids. We’re pretty easy to please… booze and a pool is all we need.
The room was extravagant compared to my expectations, and much bigger than I thought it would be. I truly enjoyed my time here and felt as if I got much more bang for my buck than I expected.
I think this is a good pick for anyone traveling with multiple people, especially larger families.
The staff was nice, but didn’t go out of their way to make us feel at home.

Pretty nice place to stay, and we saw the room a lot considering the illness that inflicted us when we went over to Orlando to do «touristy stuff.»
The suites are well set up with all the amenities you’d hope for to be self sufficient for a week of vacation with a full kitchen including fridge, stove, toaster, microwave, garbage disposal, and dishwasher.
They serve a breakfast for two in the lobby each morning, so be sure to get your coupons to enjoy a hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, and other common selections.
The pool here is nice and warm with the Cabana bar to give you refreshment through the day. The pool ranges between 3′ and 5′ deep. There is also a hot tub on the location, but it’s extremely hot and not the best thing to submerge in after a few margaritas. Clean towels are available at the pool for when you swim.
You can buy tickets to Universal right in the lobby (even though we couldn’t take advantage) to save some time and taxis were quickly available on request at the business.
A good experience, easy check in and good service by the front desk. Check out was slow, with only one staff member dealing with a complex guest issue that made a 2 minute checkout take about 25 minutes — an express checkout option couldn’t easily be found, so I am unaware if that is available.
Overall, a solid experience at a convenient property for what Orlando has to offer. A very nice pool and convenient amenities in each of the rooms.

–Free shuttle to and from Universal/​Epcot/​Disney but the downside is 8:20am pickup from the hotel and 7:20pm pickup from Universal
–Hotel automatically charges $ 50 onto your charge if you decide to order food or drinks from your room. The unused portion will be credited back within 7 business days.
