The Resume Writing Guild

Guild is a real service… It’s a good service. You email them – (or call them at first, as I did) – and they get all sorts of info from you about your background. They have this team of writers —and at least 2 appear to work on your resume – but you stay in contact with one main «lead» person. For a ‘net company, my writer was pretty good about answering questions quickly – maybe with some delay on Sunday — but I can forgive that… I liked what I received – and got some minor revisions – and liked it more— I was able to use the resume they prepared to get the promotion I wanted – though I’m not sure if their resume was what made the difference – as I also had to make it through two interviews– Either way, their resume definitely didn’t hinder me – and I’m happy now with the results – Got what I wanted!

I hired this company to rewrite my cover letter for a job I was very interested in applying for. Not only did I provide them with my a fairly well written 2-​page cover letter that I wrote, but I also provided them with the job announcement. They returned to me a ONE paragraph cover letter. Over half of this paragraph was completely borrowed from the version I provided. The unique language they provided was stock text and did not even align with my skills or interests. I would STRONGLY urge you not to use this company. Unfortunately I didn’t find this Unilocal page before purchasing services with them.

My first bit of advice is do NOT hire them for the JumpStart job search package. HUGE RIP-​OFF. What they do is search job engines and company sites, and send you a random list of companies, regardless of whether they have jobs you would apply for. The second half of the list we got was related to an old career. Common sense and logic should automatically suggest that information will not be helpful. A better name for this service would be JumpStart Rip-​off.
The resume rewriting service is a joke as well. This chick Tracy used another client’s resume to put mine into and left their information in it as if it was mine. Lame. They specifically ask you what type of position you’re seeking and request an actual job description of your ideal job. For reasons unknown to me, all that was ignored in favor of what they wanted me to apply for instead. I got back this convoluted extra long four-​page document into which old girl had placed my photo (photos on resumes are unacceptable in my field), some random generic cover photo graphic from social media, and job titles as a headline that had nothing to do with my goals. She also CREATED errors.
They couldn’t PAY ME to EVER hire them again. Fricking total waste of time, energy and money.
I have since found a totally impressive resume writing service that does EXACTLY what they promise they will do without any of the errors, omissions, and horrible customer service, and they put this company to shame. Feel free to message me for the name/​contact info.
Edit: I noticed the owner’s name is David Pabon. He wasn’t the one who created my resume, but I can’t help but wonder if this failure is simply a matter of his hiring a jackleg staff and if he would have done a better job himself!
