The Sandwich Company

A friend suggested this place and if you are a sandwich person I think this would be a great little find.
Being someone who isn’t a sandwich person I thought it was really good. I enjoyed my Italian sandwich.
Beware the sandwiches are HUGE so split with someone or get a small one.

Fantastic sandwiches at a great price. The egg salad is outstanding!

This is a hidden gem, closes early (I think 2:00), and is now getting busy at lunch. Small place in a not so nice looking strip mall (why am I always in crummy strip malls?).
The food, Sandwiches are large and interesting, not your normal everyday ingredients, and taste WONDERFUL! I had the Italiano and it rocked! Potato salad had a nice vinegar taste. Be adventurous and try this place! The Red Bull Brisket chili looked and smelled awesome, but I was full, so couldn’t try it. Large sandwiches are MASSIVE. Enjoy!

Nom Nom Nom Sammiches. Seriously. This place is awesome. It might not look like it from the outside… or the inside. But these sandwiches are legit. Some notes:
–They are huge. Go with the half size unless you’re making it another meal later or you want to eat a loaf of bread the size of your arm. (it comes with a side: chips, potato salad or egg salad.)
–The menu is not extensive, but the choices are solid. Tuna, roast beef, italian options… I had the waldorf sandwich. There may have been a clever name for it. I forget. It was good. Nice light chicken salad with apples, and mandarin oranges, did not taste overly mayo’ed. I do wish the bread had been toasted, but I probably could’ve requested that. Went with the egg salad as my side (protein vs. carbs…) It was good, but I heard the other table next to me raving about the potato salad. stupid carbs…
–The service was great. The girl behind the counter was helpful, patient, brought our food to the table and extremely nice.
–Drink options are canned soda, bottled gatorade or brewed tea.
–The place is small, not much to look at, but clean and parking is easy.
Wish the first time I tried this place wasn’t on the day I moved out of the neighborhood. Need a reason to go back there…

Genuine sandwich-​craft is back! SODO desperately needed an authentic mom-​and-​pop gem and now it has one with the Sandwich Company. It’s worth the detour to visit this friendly, family-​owned shop!

The bread, OMG, the bread. It is like heavenly pillows and you want to get a huge roll and just lay in it. Instead though, ignore those cravings like I did and just eat the heck out of it.
Very unassuming spot and highly delicious lunch. Headed in and everyone had a smile on their face and the young lady that helped us inquired if it was our first visit. She suggested two must tries for beginning: Steak in the grass or Italiano. Each hot. I went with the Italiano without Capicola. It arrived piping hot and it was delicious. It was not overflowing with meat but the flavors of everything was great. It was a large sammie too and the chips were the perfect pair. I am usually a cold sandwich fan but this was awesome hot. I also tasted a bite of the Steak in the grass and it was as impressive.
The bread, I am telling you, WOW! They get it from a bakery in Tampa and it’s just divine. I can’t wait to head back and try more sandwiches. The prices are a great value as well.

I was surprised & saddened to see that Chili Daddy closed. Luckily, I’m a big fan of the humble sandwich, so I was pleased that the Sandwich Company opened in this location.
The menu hits has the usuals (turkey, ham, roast beef), but the highlights are their Signature Sandwiches. The Black & Blue has tender chunks of beef and tasty blue cheese crumbles… a definite winner. The New Englander has turkey on top of a unique cranberry orange spread. I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something a little different.
The seating area is small and basic but it gets the job done. Service was fast, and the price is right. I will certainly return.

Great Sandwiches!!! They took the spot where Chili Daddy was (RIP). Tony is very friendly and gives his recommendations. I’ve steak in the grass and the little Guido. Both are great. Bread is sooooooo fresh!!! Soups are great. Very happy with this place.

Great sandwich! Being from Dallas, I miss the good Italian sandwich and anytime I’m on the East coast i do my best to find a good sandwich place. I found Sandwich Company while searching on Unilocal and it was fantastic! I had the Italian sandwich and it was great with the bread really making it incredible!
It’s a great local spot, I only wish I lived in Orlando to try it again. They said they are about to redesign the inside and will even be lowering their prices! If you are in the area I’d highly recommend it.

The fresh bread is amazing! True test of a sandwich shop is their Italian and The Sandwich Company’s Italian is great.

My new favorite sandwich shop! Bread is fantastic. The owner is super nice.

The albacore tuna on a whole wheat hoagie is da bomb! The lettuce (no iceberg here) and sliced cucumbers are fresh and add a fine earthy taste to the sandwich.
The Sandwich Company on Michigan Street (home of the former Chili Daddy’s) is a fine addition to Wadeview Park (That’s what Unilocal calls the neighborhood; I call it Downtown South.)
The half sandwich was more than enough for lunch and was accompanied by one of several fine-​looking home-​made sides. I chose a potato salad which I’d love to have the recipe for.
I can barely wait to try the soup and desserts and the vegetarian sandwich.
The service was friendly and helpful. I wish them the best.

My husband and I just finished up a great lunch here! The owner explained everything and even offered free samples of the deli sides. My husband had the steak in the grass (roast beef, provolone, and sautéed spinach +mushrooms and caramelized onions) with a side of potato salad. I stole a bite of each and loved the sandwich… The potato salad was great too. The true star was my Waldorf style chicken salad sandwich. Classic chicken salad taken up a notch with the addition of cranberries, granny smith apples, and orange zest. I recommend it classic style on white toast. I had pasta salad on the side, which was also wonderful– classic vinaigrette style pasta salad with feta cheese and fresh veggies. A great, no frills sandwich spot that was most needed on this side of town!

Today I decided to check out The Sandwich Company. Tony recommended the «Steak in the Grass», which is a steak sandwich with provolone and freshly sauteed spinach. I added onions, but mushrooms were also available.
A side also comes with the sandwich, so I got the potato salad, which was perfectly seasoned. They probably don’t need the salt and pepper shakers on the tables.
I finished up with some homemade tiramisu, which might be the lightest I’ve ever had — absolutely delicious!
Nice job, Tony. I’ll be back!

Saw the sign where Chili Daddy’s used to be and had to stop in for a bite. They have been open 3 weeks now and didn’t exist on Unilocal — so I added them. The place is pretty small — only a half dozen tables or so. They have a good sized menu of both sandwiches and salads. Some flatbread options.
The food took a bit long to get to us. But we were in no hurry and it was after Lunch rush. When the sandwiches came out they were all rather large and put together with care. You could tell everything was fresh. The fruit was immaculately prepared and delicious.
I plan on going back and trying this place again, perhaps get into their soup and see how good it is. (I heard a soup nazi in the back teaching someone how to make a soup and was impressed with the care she took).
