If your around OBT in Orlando, FL. You should go to Tortas el Rey. Best tacos, burritos and sandwiches. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The location, is a bit tight to see and enter. But once your there, you can either order at the front or do the drive-tru. Their flan of queso is amazing and also the agua de horchata. Its very cheap! This place is a kickass!

Tortas El Rey gets 4.5 stars from me; they’re Great! You read these reviews about street tacos and this is about as close without having to hit a busted down food truck or the deadland(DeLand) flea market before Walmart flushes it out. Fainter types won’t like driving to Tortas given it’s part of the worn out OBT landscape but there’s a church across the street lol and day by day, this part of town’s getting more and more commercially rebooted. Best repurposed Checkers ever. And watch out, they’re picante, if you’re of weaker resolve, order the salsa on the side. I like everything I’ve ever tried.

The closest thing to real Mexican tacos. Omg I love this place. And the aqua de Pina is the best ever.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, so I grew up on street tacos… This place by far is the closest thing you will get to street tacos this side of the country. I come here at least twice a week now. At least I really try to. Any one else who says otherwise doesn’t know what the f@$k their talking about.

They are located in a seedy part of Orlando but don’t be discouraged. It’s in an old Checkers. You order at the window and eat at the outside tables or you can go through the drive thru. I see a lot of reviews looking for authentic Mexican and this is the real deal. The tacos are fresh, moist and hot. They are served with cilantro and diced onions. You can add other things like cheese and sour cream, if you ask. If you are skittish when it comes to spice, like me, order the sauce on the side. One small drop of the hot sauce is enough to burn off your taste buds. But the best thing is the price; $ 1.25 for a really good taco is unbeatable!

Grilled chicken and pork burritos were amazing!!! Leave room for the Tres Leches cake! Totally worth driving out of the way to go on our way to Universal!

Ok went here because of the great reviews. Let me start with the good. The flavor of the food was incredible, the only reason I didn’t give it a 4 star was because there was to much rice and beans hardly any chicken at all in my burrito. I ordered the .50 cent tacos because I was told they were ground beef but they aren’t that all instead they are just crushed beans that was disappointing totally. So I would of enjoyed this place better if I knew how to order the food. The burrito order with no beans and little rice and get the chicken tacos or carnitas instead of the cheap tacos and all will be GREAT. I promise to up date this review if all goes well the next time I order from there. Thank You!

Oh my goodness, this is such authentic, fresh, & tasty Mexican food. I used the drive through, and like others have said, you do have to wait a few minutes but worthwhile. I ordered in English with no issues, something I wasn’t sure would be possible driving up to it. Definitely coming back here whenever nearby the Florida Mall.

The only thing I can rate here are the tacos, and let me just say they are phenomenal! I always get the steak tacos with cilantro and onions, and the steak is always perfectly seasoned. I honestly haven’t found a better taco in Orlando. The hard shell tacos are really good too and are only 50 cents, but the actual real Mexican tacos are so delicious. The service is slow, so expect to wait for your food. I’m sure they are making it by hand when you order, so it’s worth the wait 100% Also they have the best Horchata too. One of these days I will try to Torta, but it’s hard to say no to the tacos. This place is worth the wait and coming to a «sketchy» area if OBT worries you. Just come during the day and you’ll be fine!

When you stop mid-taco to exclaim, «Wow,» odds are you’re in love. I can’t attest that these are authentic — they seem a little too greasy — but what I can say is that you won’t find a better $ 5 four taco and a drink combo in town. Heck, you probably won’t find a better taco in Orlando. Like a lot of other folks, I’ve passed by Tortas El Rey numerous over the last few years and never paid any mind to it. After getting some recommendations from co-workers, a few of us went over yesterday for lunch and I’m so happy we did. Yeah, the place doesn’t look inviting(there are bars on all the windows but I guess that’s more a reaction to the location’s area than anything) and the language barrier made ordering a little difficult(be patient!), but it was totally worth it. The street tacos included in the lunch special are double corn tortillas filled with chicken or pork(I went with the pork). They’re a little on the small side so four is definitely the way to go. There are two hot sauces to choose from. They’re both good, but I favored the red over the green — it had a little more kick. After one visit, I’ve decided to become a regular. Not only is it good but it’s super cheap. All the pictures on here convinced me to grab a torta next time.

I go here for the tortas. Best place for tortas I have been to in Florida. I have eaten the best in Mexico and this is closest to that I have found. Makes me happy I found this place. I also like their aguas.

Talk about real authentic Mexican tortas and tacos. You will experience the real taqueria taste without being in mexico… Trust me, I grew up in mexico and this dive is as real as it gets. Note: try to visit during business hours before 7pm… Orange blossom is 100% criminal ave. Pimps, hoes, dealers, thugs hang around the area.

«The most of a couple Authentic South Mexican Food places in a former ~Checkers~ hilly drive thru» + tons of grease! I had been eating at «Tortas El Rey~The King of Sandwich» since about 3 Administrations ago. The Original Owner“s food was the best(it kicked ~ss), but now the price$ are better. You cannot beat the $ 4.95 Lunch Special(4 Tacos & Soda) The best choices are«Carnitas»(Pulled Fried Pork), «Cabeza»(Slowly Cooked Steamed Beef Head soft meat) and«Chorizo»(Mexican Pork Spicy Sausage). I also enjoy the $ 4.95 «Chicken Flautas»(Deep fried rolled up hard taquitos with chicken, sour cream, queso fresco, lettuce, tomato and salsa). «The Pastor» is far from being a Good«Pastor tacos» like in Mexico, but that is the norm in U.S. Mexican food places… I guess, «I can live with that»! Everything is overgreasy(which is not an authentic Mexican food caractheristic but still delicious & easy to wipe out, just use an extra napkin!) Yes, the Mexican food is greasy sometimes but not overgreasy. The Salsas are housemade and authentic: Mild Green: Green Tomatillo, Serrano Peppers. Hot Dark Red: Tomato, Guajillo Pepper, Chile de Arbol. It Opens Late, but please always watch out, close your windows and lock yourself up while you are waiting for your food or just visit during the day instead. This is located at a heavy commercial area during the day but it becomes«Shady O.B.T» at night! This is only Drive Thru, my favorite divey drive thru! It may not be the fastest, but hey! Food is prepared at ordering which is a good sign and worth to wait!

Authentic, late night, DRIVETHRU, tacos etc. What more do you need? The tacos are small but cheap and sooo yummy. You can’t get guac and chips here but they do offer burritos, flautas(also delish!) and tortas. It takes a while to get the food, but consider its made to order. I am a fan!

Love this place. It’s quickly become one of my favorite places to eat at. You just can’t beat the combination of open-late drive-thru and great, inexpensive Mexican. I mean, the tacos are like a buck each! Might as well try a few, right? The menu is kind of limited, but what they have actually rivals a lot of Mexican restaurants I’ve eaten at. Can’t recommend this place highly enough if you’re looking for fresh, authentic, and tasty«fast food.»

I finally found a reasonable Mexican food drive thru!!! Tacos are small, burritos huge, so consider the burrito a meal, the taco more of a side. You can tell how Authentic a Mexican restaurant is from how they make the enchiladas and the refried beans. this place did not disappoint. But, to be honest here, it wasn’t excellent. So. Here’s Mexican Food, that doesn’t taste at all like Chain Mexican, even though it’s a budding chain. But, it’s not necessarily a better taste, just different. And, I’ve eaten a LOT in restaurants in Mexico, and this is, still, just a bit different. Again, not at all in a bad way. Give it a try, see what you think. Poke around, and find some items you like!
