Not a fan. It’s worth traveling a little further to Semoran Skating Rink. This place is seriously outdated but I could look past that if it wasn’t for the rental skates. Absolutely horrendous! The skates were so old and in horrible condition. They gave us a pair that was literally rip up! Disgusting. If you bring your own skates & just want a place to roll around in then go for it. One good thing was the staff. They gave us our money back with no issues.

Ok, the place needs updating, but let’s call it retro, ok? It is a skating rink after all, and this one is vintage 80’s.
The elementary school has a skate night here a couple times a year, and it is fantastic. Very age-​appropriate for the kids. The DJs play kid-​friendly pop music and do lots of games. The kids don’t care that the place needs paint… And ceiling tiles…
This place is my «last resort» summer camp. You can always show up the day of to put the kids in camp. $ 25/​day or $ 100/​week. The kids skate a ton and fill up on snack bar food. I hate it, the kids love it. But as I said, it’s my last resort when all other plans fall through.
Also frozen mozzarella cheese sticks taste soooo much better at the skating rink. ;)

My daughter recently had her birthday party here. It was a great price for the package we got. The birthday host was really nice. The girls at the ticket counter and snack counter were also great. The music they played was appropriate for a eleven year old crowd. The refs helped the kids learn how to skate, in fact I took my son a few weeks before and tried to teach him but he only lasted 10 minutes. When they showed him how to do it, he was skating in a half hour and ended up winning the race for his age group.
The only complaint I really had was, they didnt use wristbands or anything to keep track of the kids that were in our party. Some of my daughters gifts ended up on the other party’s table. Some kids crashed the party room for pizza and cake, when we were going through the photos after the party, we had three kids in the room with us that my daughter did not know. I had a few kids that were a part of the party, that did not get pizza. The birthday host did get them some, but I was in a panic about it at the time.
It’s a great, inexpensive place to take the kids. It gets them out of the house for a few hours and it’s great exercise.

This place is in serious need of updating. The common area floors are absolutely disgusting and the majority of the carpet is being held together with duct tape and electrical tape.
The skating floor itself is really large and so-​so in terms of quality. Just do not look up at the gross ceiling, there are all kinds of nasty things stuck to it.
I’d go to Semoran Skateway instead.

Went here one random night with my friends to try something new and the experience is worth it due to the fact that Orlando has a limited amount of skating rinks. However dear yes they can definitely upgrade those terrible wobbly worn out skates! Although they have budget night (which is $ 3.50 to skate plus $ 1 for the rentals) one can automatically fear of breaking off their leg with the way so many people fall.
I recommend coming on a night that isn’t so jammed pack with teenagers that try to dance while skating showing off and fall thus creating unnecessary injuries for themselves and those around them.
Due to the fact that skating rinks are fun regardless and that they sale $ 1 churros I will leave that third star.

Avoid this place. Why?
–It has not been renovated in 20 years
–The DJ’s playlist should be outlawed not to mention the DJ himself
–The location is scary
–Teenage skating refs who abuse their whistling privileges
–Ghetto skates
–Broken tables

When I was growing up everyone who was anyone went to the skating rink in the summertime and with their after school program (also known as extended). It was the place to be Wednesday afternoons and on the weekends. When I reached middle school, it was the place to be on Friday or Saturday nights not to skate, but to shake your booty in the dance room… which my dad didn’t allow me to do very often. Universal Skating Rink was everyone’s favorite hang out.
What made this place so appealing to kids and adults alike is that it is and was the only skating rink in the area allowing children and teens to socialize, exercise and simply have fun in a safe environment. Upon entering the rather old establishment, you are hit with smell of feet and sweets with a hint of sweat in there. Directly to the left you will find the snack bar which carries the usual pizza, nachos, fountain soda, churros, candy and so on. To the right is the skate shop where you can purchase skates, skate accessories and random other odds and ends related to skating in some way. Booths and tables sit between the actual skating rink and the snack bar, with a few arcade games to the right and more sitting areas to the left. In the far left hand corner is the infamous dance room, which is also used for parties and other special events that take place there from time to time.
If you’re interested in learning how to skate for competitions, races or a sport like hockey they offer those lessons and classes too, as well as host competitions from time to time. Most classes usually take place in the summer and on the weekends. They also offer camps and this place is a haven for extended day programs and summer camp programs. For holidays like Halloween and Easter they always do something special such as an Easter egg hunt, costume contest or the like. There is a live DJ who plays the music and coordinates fun activities in between so you’re not simply skating in a circle the whole time. As I mentioned earlier, Fridays and sometimes Saturdays are meant for teens to hangout and skate or dance. At least once month they usually host an all night skate which means they stay open until 6 or 7 in the morning. My parents never let me partake in this, but I hear it’s a good time if you can stay up all night.
Prices aren’t too bad, but then again I haven’t been here for a few years so they are probably not quite the same. If you don’t have skates of your own, they do have rentals… you can choose between regular, speed or inline skates. If you are a parent and sending your kid there with a program or another parent, I recommend giving them at least $ 5 to $ 10 for snacks and games. All of the attendants are usually fairly young usually 18 to 24ish.
I must warn you that this place is at least 20 years old and looks like on the inside and outside. It is in desperate need of upgrades and renovations and maybe a serious steam clean of the carpets. But in a weird way there’s something nostalgic and comforting about this place as it is, stained carpet and all.
Overall, not a bad place to go if you’re a kid or teen, but not so cool if you’re an adult with no children.

I consider myself a connoisseur of skating rinks and this place sucks. Everything is worn out and in serious need of upgrades. I’m giving an extra star for serving soft pretzels!
