Value Rent A Car

Trust me. Go anywhere else. These guys have their own contracts over and above what the car agency requires. You’re screwed, because you are unaware of it and really can’t go anywhere else because it’s off the airport. Just don’t waste your time. These guys are real outlaws. They make you sign a contract that basically (among other things) requires you to pay for lost revenue if the car gets damaged. Even if you are not at fault. You’re screwed because you need a ca

After flying down from NY, I went to pick up a car that I reserved 3 weeks prior and because I didn’t want to upgrade, they outright refused to have me a car.
A bunch of shady people!

I had a dreadful experience with this company. We were forced to rent from Value after literally every car rental company at the Orlando airport ran out of cars during the 2013 – 2014 New Year week. The employee that picked us up from the airport and drove us to Value’s location (they are located in hotels around the Orlando area) was an absolute delight. Everything that followed was terrible.
The attendant that completed our rental said that under Florida law we were required to purchase Value’s personal liability insurance for an additional per-​day fee. My wife and I are attorneys and rent cars frequently and knew that was not true. For a good 5 minutes, he maintained that the *law* required us to buy his insurance product. When my wife disclosed that she is an attorney with insurance experience he reversed course and said it was not the law but company policy that required us to buy the insurance for an additional fee. Having no other options, we paid the fee (whether Value is still misrepresenting the legal requirement I have no idea).
Two weeks after my rental with Value they charged my credit card again for $ 26. I called to inquire, and an employee named Alex told me he could not speak to me right away but would call back in 15 minutes. 40 minutes later I called again and Alex (no apology for never calling back) told me the $ 26 mystery charge was probably $ 1 for a missed toll, and then a $ 25 administrative charge Value assessed for having to deal with the toll. I said I did not miss any tolls. He said it might be a mistake and would leave a note for his manager. When I tried to discuss the matter further he refused to provide the manager’s name and hung up on me. I dialed again and he hung up before even speaking. I dialed a third time and Alex answered, heard my voice, and then promptly hung up on me for a third time.
If you have any choice whatsoever in your car rental provider, choose someone else.

STAY AWAY
«Value» is the a misnomer for this rental car operation. They double charged on a holiday weekend by hiding the extra fee for a using a debit card instead of a credit card at the very bottom of the internet small print.
To top it off, these guys working at the front desk were complete jerks.
I would have walked back to the airport like Marc B but this is a holiday weekend and I had no choice.
I hope others learn from my experience

On vacation with my family and we chose to get our rental car from Orlando and then drive down to West Palm Beach. Value Rent a Car is housed in the lobby of the Comfort Inn & Suites not far from the airport. Very convenient that they have a shuttle to and from the airport. The only car we could get was a Chevy Cruze without power windows, and a lot of other basic features. Really pathetic and kind of gross. Almost instantly the check engine light came on. We didn’t call in to report that though because we weren’t in Orlando. All in all the car made it through the trip and wasn’t that expensive. Just remember to bring proof of insurance so that they don’t charge you their plan.
I think the best part of this rental car business would be that the employees at the Comfort Inn are so nice. They let us eat the continental breakfast for free so that it wouldn’t go to waste!
