Big Scoop Ice Cream

First time visit for the kids and I. We were staying at the Super 8 across the street, and decided to go out for some ice cream. We drove across the street, got into the parking lot and couldn’t find it right away. We took a few minutes to drive around with Google Maps running to try and find this place with no success. So I called them, and what happened next is something you’d have to hear to believe! When the proprietor answered, I asked where he was located. Told him my family and I were from out of town, and couldn’t see it. He was like, «Yeah.» I told him we were behind the Houligan’s Sports Bar & Grill, and asked where he was in relation to that. He said, «Yeah.» I looked at my kids with a face that said «Seriously?!» He then asked me how many kids I had. Now I was starting to get irritated, and I almost said to him, «Why do you need to know how many kids I have and what difference does that make?» Instead, I told him that I was a potential customer simply looking for a place to buy ice cream for my children. Then he called me… Eric! I’m thinking to myself, «Who the hell is Eric?!» I then told him, my name isn’t Eric. Of course I don’t tell him my real name because this conversation was taking quite the disturbing turn, and I was getting ready to tell this guy to forget it, and tell my kids we would have to go somewhere else, when he told me that I sounded like his son Eric! After this misunderstanding was clarified, my eldest son saw the ice cream restaurant. We parked, stepped up to the ice cream counter, and before we could identify ourselves, he asked if I was the one he spoke to, and I confirmed that I was. That’s when he told me that his son like to call from time to time playing practical jokes on his dad by pretending to be random customers ordering this or that. Not very smart on Eric’s part! Eric didn’t seem to realize that this kind of behavior can drive away potential customers! But the ice cream made up for this misunderstanding. My eldest had cookies & cream on a cone, my daughter had chocolate ice cream in a cup, my youngest had a vanilla milk shake, and I was going to have the same thing as my eldest, but I saw this flavor, that I just had to try. Cherry Oblivion! It was black cherry ice cream, with black cherries and chocolate chips. It was heaven in a cup! Man I was so glad to try something different. I remember I used to have that when I was a kid. It was exactly like I remember minus the chocolate chips, that was a beautiful additional memory! :)

Great place for a different «cold one» at destination daytona. Next to Saints and Sinners bar you can sit outside at the picnic tables and enjoy the people watching. The ice cream is very good and the staff is great as well.

I was knocking around Destination Daytona when I saw Big Scoop. It was amazing. I had a no sugar added ice cream that tasted great. I also talked to Mike, and he is 1 funny dude. If you are in the area, or just passing through Ormond Beach/​Daytona area on I-​95, you will make the whole trip worthwhile by stopping. I’ll be back.

Great place for ice cream… probably one of the best places for it. Michael you the man!!!

Very creamy and delicious! I had banana cream pie — it had vanilla wafer type crumbles and marshmallow. It had a non-​fake banana flavor and was very refreshing on a hot day. My mom had cherry oblivion with chunks of cherries and chocolate. She really liked it as well. It’s in an outdoor mall across from the Harley Davidson building and next to a pub called saints and sinners. We had large cups and they were $ 3.50 each. If you check in on Unilocal,they have a promo for 20% off!

Delicious ice cream, great flavor combinations and of course all of your basic favorites! You won’t b disappointed!
