The Broken Plate

Inspired little place with approachable menu and good food. Proportions were perfect and tastebuds happy. Hours of operation are odd, parking is challenging, but outdoor patio, indoor décor and friendly staff make it a good stop. I recommend bringing 3 – 4 friends who order different items to share. The food is tastes really good. My only recommendation would be to offer unusually Greek specials, play Greek music and remove the distracting TVs. Place is to cute and has too much potential not to go «full Greek». One of the things I notice is how happy the customers are enjoying the space and the food. Everyone smiles and enjoys this fun little find in Oroville. Opa!

Everything is amazing! I highly recommend the original Gyro plate and feta fries. I always get extra Tzatziki sauce because it is so flavorful with garlic, cucumber and yogurt.

This place is great. The food was delicious and the customer service was wonderful. I am a vegetarian and it was nice to see vegetarian food on the menu. I will definitely be going back.

I ordered the chicken buffalo wrap and it was on point. The Buffalo sauce was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. A healthy amount of french fries with a nice seasoning. The service was really friendly and I will be back again when I come to Oroville for work.

Great Gyros and what a value! Lunch for under $ 8 — and enough to leave left overs! I have had the Gyros and homemade hummus — both excellent. Fries are good too! I can’t wait for cooler weather to enjoy a meal outdoors with my dog :)

I came here with my parents, nice restaurant w/​outdoor seating and a cute waitress, overall everyone liked what they ordered, especially the fries. The only thing I think I would add would be make the spanikopita with fresh feta, spinach, dill, parsley and green onions, I tried some of the ones my mom ordered and I didnt really get that extreme flavor rush, that I normally get when I eat spanikopita, these tasted like pre frozen trader joes spanikopta triangles. Also, my dad said the falafels had too much flour in the mix. I had the original gyro platter and it was ok, the pita bread tasted like sara lee brand and I think the gyro sauce had cream cheese, I like it more traditional… other than that this place has a HUGE potential to be really popular here in Oroville.

Thanks for your comment Samantha. I had the leftover spreads and pita for breakfast the next morning. I especially loved the spicy feta spread !! I don’t live in that area but when I come to visit family I certainly will plan to eat at your restaurant again !

Came in for dinner around 6pm evening, and I can say I was more impressed than my previous visits. The food is good and I’m glad I was able to try it on a few different visits.
Customer service was friendly and the place wasn’t too busy, a couple tables inside and one table outside were occupied. I am glad that Oroville has a Greek place to eat, it’s something new, different, and refreshing in a healthy way. So far my favorite thing here is the pita bread! I just love it, especially how it comes warm. I ordered an appetizer of Hummus which comes with pita bread, the Original Gyro Wrap which comes with fries, and a Spinach Feta pizza cone. Total came out to $ 18.71, it was a good amount of food for the price!
The hummus was very good, pita bread perfect, cut in little wedges. My Gyro wrap was very good, I liked the Tzatziki sauce, and the meat was soft flavorful. They gave me a lot of fries and it was nice to see them crinkle cut, they were great! I tried a couple bites of the Spinach Feta pizza cone and it was delicious! Would definitely order this again, it was much better than the Pepperoni cone. Near the fountain soda machine they have extra ketchups, Cholula hot sauce, Parmesan, red pepper flakes, and S & P.
Possible next visit, I’ll have to try some pasta…

Super clean and good food. Sitting inside or outside and decent prices very friendly. Also if you have pets they are pet friendly as well

Nice different place to eat in oroville. I have eaten here twice now and so far so good. I had the group platter with friends the first time and it gave me an opportunity to try all the different flavors of meat, spreads, along with the pita bread. It’s a great value for the money and I liked all of it. My second trip was today and I got a pizza cone. I got the meat lovers which was good but not very much meat. It had a lot of cheese which was good and the dough was also good. I would have given 5 stars if my cone would of had more meat but the flavor and quality was still excellent. The only thing they need is wine and beer!

I got the combo pizza cone, it had a lot of cheese and very little meat. It really needed more sauce, Very dry! The feta fries were ok.

I love this joint. Its in a little cute cozy place and outside have lots table to dine in.
I order a original Gryo and it was pretty declious. Service was good. I will be going back to try all the food on the menu.
–Pizza cone: I was excited to order the cone but disappointed when eating it. There was just no flavor… It definitely need some kind of sauce on the side, I think it will go good with mariani sauce. (5.50 was a waste of my money)

I loved this place!
Ive been here one two deprecate occasions. The first time I went I got two pepperoni pizza comes and a side of feta fries to go. I really liked the fries and liked the cones but I should have got a side of sauce for dipping g, didn’t even realize they don’t come with that much sauce in them (so they don’t get soggy or spill everywhere). Wasn’t very busy, there were a few others eating their lunch when u went the first time.
Second time I went though, the place was PACKED. We stood in line for a minute, and as soon as we ordered our food and got a seat, the lunch rush happened. So happy to see that business is doing well because it was SOOOOOO busy!!! Even though it was busy our food came out in about ten minutes. We got a BBQ chicken pizza (incredible.) and a side of the feta fries again.
I don’t understand why the only bad review on here is about the owner not getting a customer. Are you going to a restaurant or a bar? Their job is my to greet you when they walk by, especially if they are working. I did notice a little bit of what seemed like an attitude the one time I ever talked to a younger girl that was working there, but I’m a big girl and don’t get pissy just because some teenager answered me a certain way. No biggie. :) the woman who works the register has always been really cool. People need to get off their high horses, I am so sick of the attitude that if they are spending their money at this place, they should be served like kings. Get over yourselves.
Anyways! Food is pretty good, wait is my bad at all. Next time I want to try a gyro.

I’ve had the Margarita pizza, the chicken Caesar salad and the tzaziki, the baklava, the lemoncelo dessert and some fried dough ball drizzled with honey (omgood!) and the original gyro. All delicious. Truly, 5 Star Food. The reason for only four stars is the packaging seems a bit excessive and wasteful. Can’t wait for the award winning pizza to be on the menu!

Greek food in Oroville? YES!
I was invited here on a whim and ordered the gyro plate. Amazing flavor, generous portions and very fresh.
Not a huge seating area indoors, but the patio will be very inviting once it gets cooler.

Wow! Enough food for two meals! A great change of pace for food in this town. A little confusing regarding entry from parking in rear. After parking, proceed toward street in front, then make a left at patio to enter the restaurant. Limited indoor seating. Outdoor patio seating an option. Great Greek food and service!

Wow! Gotta start with that. I love Greek food! I have always enjoyed the Mediterranean flavors and spices. Greek flavor combinations are sometimes difficult for some people to understand. But it’s simple, «if it tastes good then just eat it!» And trust me friends, this food tastes good! The flavors are authentic and the preparation is simple. The portions are great and the prices match.
Reviewing a new restaurant in Oroville has become bitter sweet for me when I enjoy the food. I always fear that the establishment won’t last. And that’s usually the case in this small town dominated by fast food and Mexican food.
Our small town needs a place like The Broken Plate. The owner and his staff are all friendly and personable. The place is clean and I really enjoyed the Banksy style stencil art on the walls. My only hopes for The Broken Plate are that they 1. Not change a thing! 2. Not change locations. (in cooler weather the outdoor seating area will be awesome) 3. Start serving Turkish Coffee like other Greek restaurants I’ve visited in my travels. And lastly 4. Find a way to connect with the community so the customers will continue to enjoy this great food for years to come.
Thank you Broken Plate and staff, thank you for bringing an ethnic food to our town that truly can break the fast food and Mexican food curse this town has suffered for so so long.

Super yummy! Got a whole pizza, a Ceasar salad, and original Gyro platter all for just $ 20.
Staff is great as well, place is clean, and lively. Very refreshing!

Pizza Cone? Yep! Good hot food dripping with cheesy sauce. Anita salad was yummy with mozzarella balls and prosciutto = fantastic.

Amazing! The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. Its not everyday when the owner will come out and have a conversation with you and make sure your food is up to par. The owner answered all the questions we had asked him and was always happy to answer. I would definatly recomend this resturaunt its about time Oroville got a quality place to eat with amazing customer service.
